Celebrating every dad
Father’s Day celebrations are marked on different days in different parts of the world. In the US, the day is celebrated every third Sunday of June. In 2020, the great day will be marked on June 21. Celebrating this special day reminds every one of the significance and the challenges of fatherhood to appreciate them and their presence in our lives. Often, fathers don’t always get to enjoy the spark of intimacy and admiration like our mothers do. F athers have painted the image of being the breadwinners, disciplinarians, and the figure of authority in most cases. When we were all growing up, I could often hear my mother say, “Just wait until your father gets back,” whenever there was an issue. This implicates how significant our fathers are as we grow up. It also shows how our societies have put fathers in very challenging roles; they must be compassionate but disciplinarian, they must be work from far but be present to their families, they may be very far, but they must be intimate. For sure, we have all the reasons to celebrate every dad out there.
HOW FATHER’S DAY CAME TO BE
To understand and appreciate the purpose of Father’s Day fully, you must know the history behind it. The first known Father’s Day celebration in the books of history was celebrated on tJuly5, 1908, at a church service at the Williams
Memorial Episcopal Church in Fairmount, West Virginia. The day was celebrated at the request of Grace Golden Clayton, who was honoring her father, who died in 1896. Mrs. Clayton’s father died with over 200 other fathers in the famous Monongah mining explosion that occurred on Dec 6, 1895. As of today, the mining explosion is reported as the worst mining disaster in the history of the US that left more than 1000 children fatherless.
Several other people across the country borrowed Mrs. Claytons’ idea throughout the
years. However, the Fairmount service was no behind the marking of Father’s Day as an annual event. Mrs. Sonora Smart Dodd is, however, accredited for having popularized the event to a point it was declared a national holiday in the US. While keenly following up in a Mother’s Day sermon in 1909, Mrs. Dodd saw that it would be so lovely to celebrate fathers as well. She had been brought up in a family of six siblings by their father alone after their mother passed away while delivering their 6th child.

Mrs. Dodd approached the Spokane Ministerial Association and the YMCA with the proposal to celebrate a father’s day and choose the celebration to be done on June 5, which was her father’s birthday. The proposal got a lot of support, but the dates were changed to give the Spokane ministers enough time to prepare. The day was celebrated on June 19, 1910, which was the third Sunday of June. Since then, the day became an annual event. In 1972, the then-president Richard Nixon signed into law declaring the third Sunday of June to be marked as Father’s Day.
WHY CELEBRATE EVERY DAD?
If you are wondering why you should celebrate your dad, well, I will give a few reasons why you should find it in you to celebrate every dad.
Dads are an everlasting source of motivation for their kids and everyone around them. Dads never give up on their children no matter how messy it gets; instead, they continually spur them to try harder and do better. Dads set a pace that their children follow throughout their lives. An American college basketball coach and a broadcaster, Jim Valvano said, “My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could ever give another person: he believed in me.” This serves as
• SOURCES OF MOTIVATION
• OFFER STABILITY
Dad’s presence and good relationship with their kids play a significant role in ensuring the wellbeing of their mental health. Without a dad’s existence, the kids tend to face so many psychological problems as compared to when there is the presence of a father figure in their life.
• DISCIPLINE
Dads play a major role in instilling discipline to their kids. The best way to instill solid discipline as a dad is by teaching your kids to take personal responsibilities of their actions. Dads ensure discipline not by bullying or yelling but by enforcing consequences for both good and bad actions.
• SECURITY
Dads are always superheroes to their kids. In the big and unfair world, kids tend to feel 100% safe when they are with their dads.
During this year’s Father’s day celebrations, grab that opportunity to get closer to your dad. Make him feel special and loved. There are so many things you can try out with your dad on that special day. You can help your dad cool off by getting out on the water, get a boat, and take your dad to a fishing trip. If your dad is adventurous, also you could hire him a jet ski and be sure he will love it. You can hit the golf; you can fire up the grill at home, take him on a hike. You can also rock out his favorite live show. Every dad deserves the best on this day.
To all the dads out there, I want you to know that you matter so much. Science has proven it, research has proven it, but above all, you prove it every time you fill in the gap for your family in this cruel world. From The Power Is Now Inc. we wish a happy Father’s Day to every father figure out there.

Home Ownership
By Eric Lawrence Frazier MBA
Home ownership brings stability to individuals and families who have never had a dwelling place that they could call their own. There is something special about owning real estate that is unlike anything else on earth you can own.
Real Estate you own is not like cars that decay over time and you have to replace them. Real Estate you own is not like clothes that go out of style and you have to buy new ones. Real Estate you own is not like expensive vacations or experiences that only last a moment in time. Real Estate you own is not like an apartment where the landlord may increase the rent until it’s no longer affordable. Real Estate you own is not like staying at your parents house where you know can’t stay forever.
Home ownership is the beginning of wealth that increases over time and becomes your estate & legacy Home ownership is the pride of a mother nurturer and the kitchen her domain Home ownership is the pride of a father provider and protector of his territory and family. Home ownership is the foundation of permanence and the place where life happens, birthdays celebrated, deaths mourned.
Home ownership is the place you build memories that can never be taken from you. Memories etched in walls and concrete, experienced in rooms and floors, Memories living in trees and shrubs planted by your hand. Howe ownership is the manifestation of you - your style, your colors, your smell, your stuff, your junk, your memories, your yard and your spaces, your life.
It’s the height markers on your first child’s bedroom wall. It’s the hearts drawn in the concrete slabs when you pour your patio floor It’s the birthday parties, and anniversaries in the living room and kitchen. It’s the back yard barbecue with friends, neighbors and family contentions it’s the high school and college graduation, and wedding receptions Its’ the family nights and block parties and the fellowship of family connections
Home ownership
It’s more than real estate. Land, brick and mortar, wood frame construction and chicken wire. It’s more than money saved, gifts recieved and grants obtained It’s more than the debt you incur to buy it. It’s more than the payments you make to own it. It’s more than the appreciation that comes with keeping it over time. It’s memories, it’s family, and it’s life that can happen in one place
