This will ensure that the system protecting our children’s mental health doesn’t get eroded further during this pandemic.

In California, at least 6 out of 10 children are covered by Medicaid, before this emergency struck, the state was in the process of renegotiating two federal waivers relevant to the children’s mental health. I encourage the state should use this opportunity to expand the scope of these negotiations. Finally, families should tap the increasingly available and virtual network. Reach out, not just to your children, but there are so many resources online. Even if the schools are closed, try to reach out to your children, make them feel at home and at peace.
