MARLEY DIAS ISABELLA GOMEZ 2021 HONOREE EMCEE

This year, award winning actor Isabella Gomez can be seen reprising her starring role as headstrong yet loving Elena Álvarez in season four of the critically acclaimed series “One Day at a Time.” The show debuted on Netflix in 201, and follows three generations of a Cuban-American family living under the same roof. Critics and audiences alike were instantly drawn to the comedy, being called “clever on every level” by Indie Wire, “thought-provoking” by TV Line, “amazing performances, incredible writing, and genuine dialogue” by Awards Circuit, and “compulsively watchable” by The Daily Beast. However in February 2019, the sitcom aired its final season on Netflix before being revived on a traditional network, Pop TV. In an unprecedented move, Pop TV picked up the show for a fourth season, which debut March 24, 2020. Isabella is current scheduled to shoot the lead role of Alicia in Head of the Class for HBO Max. On the film front, Gomez can next be seen starring as Kylie in Shatterproof Films’ horror-mystery “Initiation.” The story follows the murder of a star-athlete at Whiton University, which kicks off a spree of social media slayings that forces students to uncover the truth behind the school’s hidden secrets. Gomez also lends her voice to the Disney Channel’s “Big Hero 6: The Series.” Additional credits include: Netflix’s “A Cinderella Story: Christmas Wish,” ABC’s “Modern Family,” and Disney Channel’s “Star vs. the Forces of Evil.” Born in Medellin, Colombia, Gomez got her start in the entertainment industry at just five years old. Gomez landed her first television role as Cristina Sandoval on El Rey’s “Matador” (2014), moved to Los Angeles with her family in 2015 and has been working ever since. When she isn't on set, you can find Gomez kickboxing, hiking, watching documentaries, and she has a vice for reality television. She is currently based in the Los Angeles area

CASSANDRA LIN 2021 HONOREE

In 2008, the recession created a massive economic downturn in Cassandra Lin’s Rhode Island community. Many families could not afford to heat their homes in the winter, and charities were running out of funds. Her idea evolved into Project Turn Grease Into Fuel (TGIF), a sustainable system that collects used cooking oil from residents and restaurants, converts it to biodiesel, and distributes the biofuel to local families for emergency heating assistance. To date, TGIF has donated more than 68,000 gallons of biodiesel fuel, which has helped heat the homes of 680 families. Cassandra is a recent graduate of Stanford University, where she obtained her master’s and bachelor’s degrees in sociology.
