MUSICAL PERFORMERS

Siaira Shawn has a voice that is as rousing as it is soothing, as pillowy as it is soulful. Her ability to depict the nuances of love in both mood and lyric has carried her from recording studios to the television; her song "Wrong Speed," earned a spot on the acclaimed HBO series Insecure. Her 2019 e.p. “Tender” showcased an evolved and unique sound full of “dystopian love songs” and went on to grow her fanbase and her musical profile. She released the single “Racing Home” late last year and is currently finishing her upcoming e.p. “Ephemera.”

SINGER, WRITER & PRODUCER SIAIRA SHAWN HARRIS

We all fulfill a higher purpose. In some cases, it finds us earlier than others. Keedron Bryant lives the life of any other 15-year-old boy. However, he also answers a call far beyond standard tenth grade expectations as the voice of revolution. Keedron is a lifetime member of the NAACP. He stood up by singing straight from the heart about the systemic injustices faced by the black community, and the entire world took notice. His first single “I JUST WANNA LIVE” went viral on a rare level with impressions exponentially increasing. Uniting the spirit of R&B, the honesty of soul, and the grace of gospel, he cultivates a sound of his own as pure as it is poignant.

Samantha Garong (also known as Sammi G) is a multi-faceted Los Angeles based producer, event coordinator, curator, DJ, and co-founder She is currently 10 years deep into the music industry, having worked for record labels, recording studios, music blogs, music venues, and to most recently - the world’s most renowned DJ school. Sammi G graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Audio Engineering from the Art Institute of California, with a focus on live sound. She has dedicated her life to producing concerts and events, eventually working her way from all things backstage to front stage Sammi G established Ladies of Sound LLC, an organization dedicated to empowering women in the music industry. She is currently listed as one of R&B Only DJ tour and just recently completed a 40-day North American tour with Grammy AwardWinning R&B singers Lucky Daye and Joyce Wrice.

EmpowHer Social Justice STEAM Student Project Competition

Special Thanks to Our Judges

JP M Ch

Our eighth and ninth grade classes have been challenged to identify a social justice issue important to them and develop a project proposal outlining how a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math) technique can be used to address the problem. The challenge is designed to foster innovation, engage in social justice, and develop 21st Century Skills – critical thinking, communication and collaboration. In completing the challenge, students must: (1) identify and learn about a pressing issue that impacts young women in their community; (2) use creativity and innovation; (3) communicate with group members to complete assignments; and (4) conduct research and develop a project proposal presentation. The top three teams in each grade level are preselected to present their project proposal to a panel of judges during the Girls to Greatness Teen Summit.
