On behalf of the team at BOSS™, we’d like to thank you for joining us at the Pointe at the Walter Pyramid on the Long Beach State campus for a showcase of BOSS™, the year-round, multi-year STEAM-focused academic enrichment, leadership, life skills and personal development “process” through which we are taking area boys (target boys) starting in middle school
Our goal is simple: help target boys develop the character, discipline, habits, mindset and skills to achieve success notwithstanding the inequities in education laid bare by COVID, with an emphasis on careers in STEAM and those requiring critical thinking/writing and related skills
Today’s mentors represent careers in accounting, banking, business, finance, entertainment, law, media, real estate, sports and tech. They were each once in your shoes and will share how the achieved success in their chosen fields and how timeless and universally applicable leadership, life and personal development imperatives helped them overcome the challenges and obstacles in their paths.
The Showcase is our opportunity to share the BOSS “process” with you with a view towards your taking advantage of the year-round, multi-year programming we are providing from the Long Beach State campus.

What started as a 1-day event at Super Bowls 43-50, and beta tested through summer camps in Los Angeles and Hayward, CA, has evolved into a yearround, multi-year “process” that is increasing the number of Southern CA boys, especially those of color and/or from under-resourced communities and schools, who attain proficiency in the core content areas; take Algebra as 8th graders; achieve proficient/advanced status in reading and math by the end of the 8th grade; are high school ready entering 9th grade; college ready entering 12th grade; and ultimately positioned and prepared to pursue success in any industry and every profession with an emphasis on STEAM, critical thinking/writing and related fields.
BOSS™ has grown from a few participants eager to make a change in their lives and plan a future they can believe in to over 175 (and counting) who believe in our committed-tosuccess “process” and have committed to do what it takes to move from poor to fair (we don’t cherry pick students), from fair to good, and from good to great in school, at home and in the community through programming delivered from the campus of Long Beach State University.
