CHAPTER 1
Dualities Spring 2021 in collaboration with Mason Schultz This project was a collaboration to understand how two buildings with the same program and typology would differ in two vastly different environments, the coastal, and the alpine. The building itself is a research laboratory for our client Sofia Wagner, a graduate student studying Hydroelectricity, and organizing her graduate thesis at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Sophia’s goal, among several others in her field, is to bring more effecient and usable hydroelectric power to millions and reduce the use of crude, expendable resources. This building seeks to address the 7th sustainable sevelopment goal of affordable clean energy, devised by the United Nations. The resulting buildings are labs utilizing the courtyard typology to divide work and relaxation spaces, while interacting with the water, and the surrounding environment in order to establish a sustainable workflow.

Spatial Relationships (Above) / Evolutionary Studies (Right)
Designing Spatial Relationships Initial Studies of the program were conducted in order to gain an understanding of how the spaces will interact with each other, not only horizontally, but also vertically. It was important for both buildings to interact with the water, particularly in the courtyard. Environmental studies were also conducted in order to inform the formal design of the exterior.

CHAPTER 2
Precedent Study Spring 2021 ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS This project is located in Ribamontan Al Mar Spain on a hill that slopes downwards and is cut by a 30 meter-high cliff against which the waves break. The Northern sea wind is very rough, making it hard for trees to grow by the coastline. VERNACULAR CONTEXT Ribamontán al Mar is a small sea-side village in Spain at 14.26 mi2 of land, housing around 4,450 people with a population density of 118.9/km2 ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN The building is enclosed in a squared prism (22x22 m), measuring three and a half meters in height. The most exposed façade of the house is the green roof. The main program develops in the first floor, over a ground floor that consists of garage, facilities, storage, porch and south garden. None of the pieces over the roof is higher than the horizon line seen from the street.

Floor Plans and Site This was the precedent study conducted in order to understand how the coastal environment would affect the design of a building. Notable features that lead to the final product include the stilits that supported upper living areas, as well as the openess created by the courtyards to bring air and light to the interior

CHAPTER 3
Yamamoto Residence Fall 2020 The client’s name is Kaito Yamamoto. He is a senior manager at the auction house Christies specifically specializing in the asian art department. As such, he has grown an interest in Bonsai collecting and Japanese gardening. This house will be his vacation home away from work and as such will revolve around his hobby of gardening. The house will have all the normal requirements for a house with the addition of an extra bedroom and bath for the house’s caretaker who will be maintaining the house and garden when Yamamoto is not on vacation, a shed for the garden tools, as well as a courtyard, and the rooftop garden itself. The final design was constructed from a series of frames based on the modular which formed the basis for the program’s spaces. The house is organized linearly with the most private rooms to left transitioning to public on the right. ARCH 2551 Instructed by Krishnan Mistry

Modular Frames Five square frames were made to understand Le Corbusier’s theory on the Modular Series. The frames transition from closed to open with each iteration. These frames were then placed on a sloped site to inform the design of the residence.

CHAPTER 4
First Year Spring Spring 2020 The second Design Communications studio resulted in serveral projects including a semester-long sketchbook assignment, a kit-bashed physical collage model made from various toy modeling sets, an abstracted digital cube designed to house primary and secondary spaces, and many more. The Sketchbook assignment included various studies of plans, an exploration of axonometrics as well as isonometric representation of drawing, trips to well-known buildings documenting their spaces through sections as well as plans, and various other sketches The Physical Collage was conducted to understand space in a tangible manner, while also experimenting with premade forms in order to create a unique result. The Cube assignment was an introduction to the digital modeling 3D space through Sketchup. Through allignments wrapping the cube, extrusions were made to sculpt the spaces.

A year-long endevour to fill entire sketchbook with drawings and sketches. These are twenty five select spreads of the sketchbook documenting my explorations into architecture, art, and art history. These sketches are a mix of assigned studies to observational sketches to explorations of art history. The Sketchbook assignment included various studies of plans, an exploration of axonometrics as well as isonometric representation of drawing, trips to well-known buildings documenting their spaces through sections as well as plans, and various other sketches

CHAPTER 5
First Year Fall Fall 2019 The first Design Communications studio focuses on developing an understanding of basic methods of architectural representations through drawing and other tools. Basic topics include understanding value, composition, scale, contours, and perspectives. These were taught through various different excercises ranging from studying old masters to drawing from life, to interpreting reality and ploting them on paper. ARCH 1341 Instructed by Steve Quevedo

CHAPTER 6
Garland Animal Shelter Spring 2019 This was a project done in High School tasked with the objective of redesigning our local animal shelter. The concept behind the design consists of cubic sections with a courtyards sliced at an angle revealing a green roof. Dog kennels are aligned facing into the courtyard and alongside one corner of the cubes. These cubes are then arranged and connected with a winding hallway connecting the kennels to the rest of the facility. The resulting form is a crescent shaped building with an opening facing towards the neighboring forest. The implied space in between, becomes a public dog park allowing visitors to come and spend time with the newfound animals. At the same time, the courtyard within each cubic section allows private usage for the staff to work with animals without the need to confront with guests outside in the field.
