Courses took place across Erewash during the 2022 school holidays. Instructors within the Sport and Health Development team have delivered six separate courses, comprising of 18 different sessions of free activity accessed by more than 80 children across the borough.

The photo shows some of the children enjoying the free Balanceability sessions that took place in the borough. An Erewash woman has started a walking group for beginners after recovering from a stroke.

Jane Burgess took part in free walk leader training which is available through the Walk Derbyshire scheme.

Since her stroke Jane has been able to rebuild her ability and stamina. She started the group at the beginning of September and it now has eight regular members. The next gentle walk will be at 10.30am on 22 December at Willow Avenue, Long Eaton. More information can be found at erewash.gov.uk/walking

Balanceability is the UK’s first and only accredited ‘learn to cycle’ scheme for children aged two to six.

It is specifically designed to help children learn to ride pedal bikes
