We encourage you to read the information leaflet on mobility opportunities Erasmus+ Mobility for Students of Lazarski University ERASMUS.OUTGOING@LAZARSKI.EDU.PL
When does the recruitment take place?
We announce recruitment for student mobility twice a year, usually in March and September. However, we encourage you to contact us earlier in order to set expectations and adjust the offer to a specific individual - you!
Where can I go?
The Erasmus+ programme involves 27 countries of the European Union plus the United Kingdom, the Faroe Islands, Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, the Republic of North Macedonia, the Republic of Turkey, the Republic of Serbia, Angora, Monaco, Vatican City, and San Marino A novelty in the program is that a university can allocate 20% of the Erasmus+ budget to mobility to countries not associated with the programme.
For how long can I go?
Students and recent graduates can take advantage of the following types of Erasmus+ mobilities: a traineeship at a company abroad lasting at least 2 months; going to a partner university for a semester to study; short-term physical mobility (5-30 days) combined with virtual mobility.
The total time spent by a student on different types of the Erasmus+ mobility cannot exceed 12 months.
What are the recruitment criteria for the Erasmus+ mobility?
Students during recruitment are assessed in the following four categories:
the level of motivation to participate in student mobility; the level of language competence for the purpose of student mobility implementation; the grade point average from a given cycle of studies.; the level of knowledge of three receiving organisations pre-selected by a candidate.
Can I extend my stay at a partner university?
Yes, but only if the mobility takes place in the fall semester and the student has not yet fully used his/her Erasmus+ mobility capital (12 months). You can extend your stay at a partner university within one academic year by submitting an appr application no later than by December, 15 of a given academic year.
I come from a country outside the EU, can I take part in the programme?
Yes. A student officially registered in the field of study leading to the bachelor's or master's degree has the opportunity to go abroad under the Erasmus+ programme, regardless of citizenship.
What higher education institutions does Lazarski University have
bilateral agreements with?
Every year, the list of universities with which Lazarski University has signed agreements for student mobility for studies is updated:
PARTNER UNIVERSITIES LIST
We want the mobilities to be tailored to the individual student as much as possible and that is why we are also open to suggestions from people interested in the Erasmus+ programme. We can always sign new agreements! A complete list of universities that have the Erasmus+ Charter can be found by entering "Higher education institutions holding an ECHE" in any search engine.
Where can I go for a traineeship?
Information on internships and traineeships can be found, for example, at ERASMUSINTERN.ORG or you ask your Faculty Erasmus+ Coordinator for advice. In this case, it is of great importance to independently search for a host company.
Will I get the entire grant amount at the beginning of the mobility?
Before departure, we make an advance payment of 80% of the total grant due. After settling the mobility and providing all the necessary documents (e.g. a list of grades from the host university, confirmation of the length of stay and syllabuses), we transfer another 20% of the total grant amount.
How many candidates are there?
This information is known only after the recruitment for a given academic year is closed and after Lazarski University receives a decision on cofinancing Erasmus+ mobilities.
As a part-time student am I eligible for Erasmus+ mobility?
Yes, part-time students are eligible to apply for Erasmus+ mobilities.
Do I need insurance?
Yes, the purchase of insurance is necessary. It must cover liability insurance, accident insurance and cover the costs of repatriation. The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is not a sufficient protection for participants during mobility under the Programme. In the case of going to countries outside the EU where the EHIC card is not applicable, the student is obliged to purchase health insurance on his/her own for the period of study/traineeship at the host institution. Programme participants with Polish citizenship are also recommended to register on the "Odyseusz" website run by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Do I have to take part in exams at Lazarski University during the mobility?
No, during your mobility you should do it at a partner university. Passing exams in the form offered at the host university is necessary to obtain credits for the courses at Lazarski University and obtaining ECTS points.
Can I be on dean's leave during the mobility?
No. During your stay at host institution under the Erasmus+ programme, you may not be on dean's leave or be on any leave (e.g. sick leave).
Can I go abroad during my diploma semester?
In the case of students applying for mobility in the last year of studies, a provision is applied that states that going to study/practice should not interfere with the timely completion of studies. The Faculty Coordinator of the Erasmus+ Programme makes the decision in this case.
Can I go abroad if I have to retake my course because of failing ?
To take part in the Erasmus+ exchange, you must unconditionally complete the entire first year of studies at first-cycle studies and the entire first semester at second-cycle studies one month before departure. In the case of failing the subject in later semesters / years, consultation with the Faculty Erasmus+ Coordinator is necessary.
Do I have to pass the language test?
Yes. Only native speakers of a given language are exempt from this obligation. The command of, for example, English/Spanish/French/German is tested online on the EU Academy platform (a tool of the European Commission).
Is it possible to study abroad during the first year?
The formal criteria for students under the Erasmus+ programme state that the student at the time of departure must be at least in the second year of first-cycle studies. Individuals entitled to travel: all (both bachelor's and master's) students of Lazarski University, who at the time of departure will be at least in the second year of first-cycle studies.
The possibility of internships also applies to university graduates, but recruitment must take place in the last year of studies. Moreover, from the defence of diploma thesis to mobility completion may pass 12 months.
What documents are required before and after the mobility?
Before leaving, it is necessary to send a Bank Account Statement, Personal Date Form, Learning Agreement with selected subjects at the partner university or with information about the internship, Letter of Acceptance from the university/host company, scan of insurance, language test result from the EU Academy, confirmation of payment of tuition fees, and a GDPR declaration.
After departure, please provide a Learning Agreement after the Mobility and a document containing the exact dates of mobility, and complete the EU Survey. In the case of studies, a list of grades and syllabuses for selected subjects is also necessary. Due to the fact that the list of documents can be updated, we invite you to visit our website, where you can find a list of the latest documents: ERASMUS+ OUTGOING STUDENTS
Can postgraduate students apply for an Erasmus+ programme?
Unfortunately not.
Who chooses subjects at the partner university?
In consultation with the Faculty Erasmus+ Coordinator, the student chooses subjects that best fit their study program and scientific interests.
Do I have to pick exactly the same classes at partner university as at LU?
We are aware that it is not always possible to choose subjects that perfectly coincide with the program of studies at Lazarski University. As a result, they do not have to be exactly the same. It is also important to follow your own interests as part of your field of study If you are unsure about which subjects to choose, the Faculty Erasmus+ Programme Coordinator is available to assist you.
Can I take foreign language or PE classes during the exchange?
Yes, of course However, it is worth first consulting your choice with the Faculty Coordinator of the Erasmus+ Programme. It should also be remembered that a foreign language or PE should not be the main subjects of mobility.
Who should I ask for advice on class selection?
Faculty Erasmus+ Coordinator possesses a vast amount of knowledge about the Erasmus+ Programme and will help you in choosing the right subjects and will advise you in case of any uncertainty:
ERASMUS+ OFFICE CONTACT INFORMATION
Will LU recognize a study semester completed at a partner university and/or traineeship completed in a company abroad?
Yes. For each person, an individual study program to be completed at the partner university and/or a program of obligatory traineeship to be completed in a foreign company will be agreed on before departure. The document is called Learning Agreement.
How many ECTS credits or how many subjects do I need to complete during the semester at a partner university?
30 ECTS credits as standard. The secondary issue is the number of subjects. We are more interested in whether these are subjects related to the field of study. These can also be classes that our university does not offer at all and are related to, for example, your specialization.
Can I change/add subjects during my stay at the partner university?
Sometimes it turns out that, for example, two selected subjects at the partner university take place at the same time in the schedule, or a certain subject will not start at all, or other random problems will arise. In such situations, it is possible to change or add items during the stay at the partner institution. Changes must be made without undue delay after consultation with the Faculty Erasmus+ Coordinator.
What happens if I fail a subject during my mobility?
It all depends on the number of ECTS credits that you will receive from the partner university. In a situation where only a few points are missing to have a complete set of grades, an additional subject may be appointed in exchange for the failed one. However, if you receive much less ECTS points that agreed on in the Learning Agreement, you may fail the semester and have to return the grant amount.
What is the grant amount?
The amount of the grant depends on the destination country and whether the student/graduate is going to study or to traineeship and ranges from EUR 600 to EUR 820 per month. The student may also receive an additional amount as a "person with fewer opportunities" and for "green travel". In addition, in some cases of traineeship/internship, the so called "pocket money" is voluntarily paid by the company accepting students/graduates.
More information on the amount of Erasmus+ grants: ERASMUS+ OUTGOING STUDENTS or RULES FOR ALLOCATION OF FUNDING FOR MOBILITY PROJECTS
Do I need a euro bank account?
The Erasmus+ grant is paid in EUR. To avoid commission and currency conversion costs, we recommend having a currency account in EUR. Most banks offer this service free of charge. However, it is not necessary to have an account in euros.
Is it possible to grant a scholarship to a person who has already been on an Erasmus+ mobility?
Yes, if the total duration of stay on all types of Erasmus+ mobilities does not exceed 12 months (360 days) Candidates for mobility decide themselves how to "distribute" the mobility capital on a given degree: for example, it can be used for 10-month studies and a 2-month traineeship (12 months in total), or 4-month studies, 3-month traineeship and again a 5-month study period (12 months in total).
Does the Erasmus+ grant cover all costs?
No. The student should also allocate funds for the mobility that he/she normally spends on living, e.g. money received from parents, other scholarships, social benefits, salary from work or student loan. It is difficult to estimate an exact amount of money that a student will have to take with him/her, as it depends on many factors: individual needs, amount of Erasmus+ grant awarded, destination country, costs related to ticket and accommodation, etc.
Will the student still receive scholarships and social benefits during the stay abroad?
Yes, of course, because the outgoing person has the status of a student and all the rights and obligations associated with it.
If I go to a partner university abroad for a semester, will I still have to pay tuition fees at LU?
Yes. During the stay at a partner university, the student is obliged to pay tuition fees for studies at Lazarski University. An outgoing person who goes to study under the Erasmus+ program must have the status of a student at LU.
Will I have to pay extra for studying abroad?
No. In accordance with the rules of the Erasmus+ program, the partner university will not charge tuition fees.
What is the "individuals with fewer opportunities" allowance?
Students who meet the criteria included in the definition of "individuals with fewer opportunities" (with disabilities and/or from poorer backgrounds) will receive an additional amount of EUR 250 per month (for studies / internships) or an amount of EUR 100-150 in the case of short-term mobilities. In addition, the above-mentioned students will also receive a lump sum for travel costs in for short-term moblities.
What
is "green travel"?
Although students do not receive a lump sum for travel costs to program countries, they are entitled to EUR 50 for meeting the requirements related to "green travel": for restraining from a plane and using, for example, a bus, train, bicycle, car sharing. Due to the extension of the time needed for such a trip, students receive a grant for living costs up to max. 4 additional days.
How well do you need to know the language of the country you are going to?
In the case of mobilities to a partner university, the student should speak English, Spanish, French or German, etc. to a degree that guarantees active participation in classes. Please note that you will have to take exams in a foreign language. In the case of traineeships, the student should use a foreign language to the extent that allows free communication. If a student goes to e.g. Sweden or Spain and does not speak the language of the destination country and the studies/traineeships are held in English, we offer online language courses as part of the EU Academy.
Can I work while studying?
If work does not interfere with studies, then it is perfectly acceptable
What are the benefits of Erasmus+ mobility?
getting an Erasmus+ grant; learning something new; improving command of foreign languages; visiting interesting places, e.g. all over Europe; getting to know a new cultural circle; increasing your chances on the labor market; improving your problem solving skills; branching out; acquiring interdisciplinary skills; entering adulthood; making international friendships.
Where can I get information about accommodation opportunities abroad?
In the case of going to a partner university, you can usually use dormitories. When it comes to going on an internship, the student can take advantage of the offer and assistance from the host institution. If such a solution is not possible, the student should arrange accommodation on their own, e g by contacting the Erasmus Student Network unit in the destination country.
