As of 2022, the foundation pile market is worth 1.5 trillion won per yearnote1), with 1 trillion won for PHC piles and 500 billion won for steel pipe piles and others. On October 11, 2022, the building foundation structure design standard (KDS 41 1900:2022) was revised, completing the legislation for seismic design of foundation piles. The Korean Institute of Architects' 'Building Foundation Pile Seismic Design Guideline Study (2022.8.30.)' and lectures on foundation pile seismic design in architectural designers' remuneration education are processes to introduce the changed foundation structure seismic design standards into practice. If the existing foundation pile market is converted to the seismic reinforcement foundation pile market, it will explode into a market of approximately 5 trillion won per year

Micropiles are piles made of steel pipe or steel bar with a diameter of 300 mm or less. The micropiles in the consultation are foundation piles made of steel rods (threaded bars) of ∅50mm, ∅60mm, and ∅75mm. The domestic micro pile market is estimated to be worth KRW 175 billion in sales of micro pile materials and KRW 262.5 billion in installing sales, totaling KRW 435.5 billion annually. Note2)

The important factors of seismic piles for foundations are 1) seismic capacity and
2)cost-effectiveness. The cost of construction is calculated as the cost of constructability under objective and strict standards. The two construction methods, micropiles and triaxial seismic piles, share the advantage of being constructed with small equipment in a small area, but experiments have shown significant differences. The tri-axial seismic piles showed +260% seismic capacityNote3) and (- ) 33% municipal park price compared to micropiles, proving its overwhelming competitive advantage.
