WILD DANCE

The decision to breed your mare and raise a foal is one of the most exciting and challenging choices an owner will make. It is important to carefully follow the Society’s established guidelines to ensure the resulting foal is eligible for registration.

Stallion Status Verification

The mare owner is responsible for verifying that a stallion is approved and activated for Hanoverian and/or Rhineland breeding. Approved and activated stallions can be found in the annual Stallion Directory or on the Society’s website. Other approved stallions can be found in the annual German Jarbuch Hengst or the Verband’s website. Mare owners can inquire about other stallions not listed in the resources referenced above.

1b Stallions

Stallions deemed to have world-class performance or sired offspring with world-class performance careers may be approved for breeding on request without inspection/licensing provided such stallions:

• have an acceptable pedigree (as determined by the Society and/or the Verband), and

• are already licensed by a warmblood registry whose breeding program is approved by the Society and/or the Verband.

A stallion shall be deemed to have world-class performance if he appears in the year-end rankings of the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBFSH):

• within the top 100 show jumping stallions,

• within the top 50 dressage stallions, or

• within the top 25 eventing stallions.

Stallions meeting all of these criteria shall be deemed approved for breeding upon approval from the Society and the Verband. Upon payment of a 1b sire fee, offspring by such stallions, and out of mares approved by the Society and the Verband, shall be eligible for registration, provided all other requirements are met.

Breeders will be more competitive in the marketplace making use of excellent stallions from other breeds proven either through their own performance, as based upon WBFSH rankings, or topclass progeny results, again based upon WBFSH year-end rankings.

If you have any questions about a proposed breeding, please contact the Society office.

TRANSFER

The Society recognizes embryo transfer and allows an unlimited number of foal registrations per donor mare, provided both the sire and dam are inspected and entered in the Hanoverian Studbook or Rhineland Studbook.
