Daily’s Premium Meats Bacon Plant

This plant focuses on producing sliced-toorder naturally hardwood smoked bacon and will employ over 200 people when capacity is reached. The Daily’s plant also includes approximately 22,000 square feet of refrigerated storage and coolers ranging in temperature from 34 degrees to a -10 degree freezer. The 15,000 square foot office portion of the plant includes reception, workstations, private offices, conference rooms, a client demonstration kitchen as well as an employee welfare area.

Epstein is currently working on an expansion of this plant.

Prestage Farms Pork Processing

GROVE, IOWA

Facility

This facility, located on a 155-acre site and was designed to process approximately 600 million pounds of pork annually. The site consists of the primary processing facility that includes office spaces and several outbuildings, including a guard-house, rendering facility, and waste water treatment facility (all north of the main building). As part of this project, Epstein’s architects and engineers were asked to design 82,103 square feet of refrigerated storage.

Testa Produce Refrigerated Distribution Center

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS

The 12.86-acre project includes 20,000 square feet of Class A offi ce space and a distribution center containing a 7,600 square foot 0° freezer, 24,700 square feet of cooler space, approximately 39,000 square feet of dry warehouse and 40 truck dock positions on two refrigerated cross docks. This building is one of the most sustainable industrial facilities of its kind and the fi rst LEED-NC Platinum Refrigerated Distribution Facility.

Alpina Foods Yogurt Processing Facility

BATAVIA, NEW YORK

The facility provides enough space for an estimated 55 employees when expanded to its fullest capacity and was designed in compliance with both FDA and USDA regulations The production portion of the building consists of receiving areas, a production core, a packaging component, a laboratory and warehousing and distribution functions. The employee office and amenity spaces include locker rooms, a break room, a front lobby, and an office component.

Albertsons Dry Storage & Freezer Expansion

Epstein provided full-service architectural, engineering and construction management services for a freezer expansion and 38-foot clear height roof raising for the existing dry storage warehouse.

Wholesome Farms Protein Processing Plant

FREMONT, NEBRASKA

Epstein served as the design-builder for Wholestone Farms after completing a multiyear master plan to modernize and rebuild an existing protein processing plant. The new plant involved a boiler plant replacement, snap chill, new rendering & wastewater pre-treatment building, state-of-the-art cut floor, automated packaging, cold storage, and office expansion.

Winco Foods Grocery Distribution Center

BOISE, IDAHO

The facility sits on an 80-acre site, the new full-line grocery distribution center consists of 393,000 square feet of dry warehouse and 238,000 square feet of refrigerated space in addition to offices, employee amenity areas and other support spaces. Outbuildings include a dispatch and truck maintenance building and a truck return center with truck wash. A re-fueling system for the Winco owned tractors and trucks was installed as part of the project. The system included two 20,000 gallon double wall self-contained fuel tanks holding two different blends of diesel fuel.
