Blue plaque and information at St Margaret’s Hospital

In June, Epping Town Council installed a blue plaque and information board at St Margaret’s Hospital detailing the hospital’s historic role as a workhouse and its relationship to an outbreak of Jaundice in Epping.

The idea was put forward by the Epping Society and they helped develop the concept, wording and the unveiling.

The blue plaque commemorates Dr Harry Kopelman and we were honoured to be joined by Dr Kopelman’s son Michael and family at the unveiling.

We were also joined by one of the medical team involved at the time, John Warren, and the speeches were most interesting.

Do go and have a look at the blue plaque and information which is near the café towards the entrance to the Hospital. You can also find lots of information about the Hospital and Epping Jaundice online.

Thank you to the Epping Society and the team at St Margaret’s Hospital for assisting us with this project.
