The lineup is the culmination of the Festival’s commitment to bringing a diverse and unique group of jazz and blues musicians to Porthcawl to deliver a collection of top class performances. This all creates a unique musical experience and an atmosphere that cannot be beaten.

“Porthcawl is a place filled with music, culture and creativity, and we have a great legacy of jazz and blues here.

Our Festival – one of the longest running jazz and blues festivals in Wales – truly showcases what makes our town special,” said Cllr Robert Lee, Mayor of Porthcawl 2016 to 2017 of last years festival.

This year the Festival is proud to have DARIUS BRUBECK QUARTET Featuring DAVE O’HIGGINS on Sax headlining the Jazz Day on Saturday– a world class act with an undisputed heritage.

All this wonderful JAZZ and BLUES music, the FRINGE events, a Jazz Day parade through John Street and the Jazz Day Market in the grounds of the Pavilion means it’s going to be a weekend to remember in sunny Porthcawl.

Bossa Nova Quartet ‘Ocaso’ 8pm - Grand Pavillion

Featuring: Inês Castillo vocals, Pedro Asencio on piano, Matheus Prado on bass and Mark O’Connor on drums.

This Portuguese/Brazilian and Welsh lineup perform the wonderful rhythms of Bossa Nova – music that makes you want to dance, telling the stories of love and experience. Jazz Day - Stage Door Rumblestrutters

Saturday 14th April

12 noon - Grand Pavillion The Rumblestrutters bring you feel-good blues, jazz and ragtime of the Prohibition era. The band’s vivid evocations of the music of the 1920’s and ‘30’s has earned them a reputation as one of the most authentic and popular roots bands around, with highlights including stellar performances at Birmingham International Jazz Festival and Gloucester Blues Festival.

Started during a spring clean when Jon Toft (vocals, mandolin, banjo) found an ink jug at the back of an old cupboard, the Swansea-based acoustic three-piece features the virtuoso guitar- playing and voice of Jonathan Nicholas, and Liam Ward on vocals, harmonica and jug.

Liberty Street Jazz Band 1.30pm - Grand Pavillion

The Liberty Street Jazz Band is one of the longest established and most popular New Orleans style bands around. Their

impressive gig list takes them to all parts of South Wales, the South West and the M4 corridor as far as Henley-on-Thames where they are regularly featured on the popular New Orleans Riverboat. They have become firm favourites at successive

Porthcawl Jazz Festivals and always look forward to re-establishing their special rapport with the event. Led by Marcus on

cornet, John, Simon, Graham, Dewi and Richard never fail to please with a varied programme centred on the traditional rags, shouts and blues as played by jazz’s founding pioneers.

Bring your dancing shoes, there’s space on the floor or just sit back and enjoy an exhilarating evening of fabulous music.

To create the unique, sophisticated and widely appealing sound of Afternoon in Paris, and are all delivered with a heartfelt and irresistible joie de vivre.

Afternoon in Paris are a uniquely talented bunch. They are that rare and fabulous thing… real musicians who can really perform.

Jazz Market & Parade Saturday 14th April

The Jazz Parade is back for 2018 and will start at 12 noon at the top of John Street and come down the pedestrianised road to the Jazz Market. Follow the Porthcawl Festival Brass Quintet and the Town Crier…even the Easter bunny may still be at large!

Bring flags and whistles to join the fun!

The all new Jazz Day Market is part of the Porthcawl Jazz & Blues Festival 2018 this year.

From 1pm until 4pm there will be a vibrant mix of stalls and entertainment in the grounds of the Grand Pavilion. Come and visit us. All the stalls are protected from the elements and a few meters from the famous Porthcawl esplanade and prom!!

The DARIUS BRUBECK QUARTET celebrated a decade together when they launched their latest cd, “YEARS AGO” at Ronnie Scotts earlier this year. The band reformed in 2017 with most of the original members after many people wanted to see them again, playing infectious Swing, R n B, Blues & Rock n roll. We are from Cwmbran & Cardiff mainly.
