Getting Ready for an Energy Assessment

Make a list of any existing problems, such as condensation and uncomfortable or draughty rooms, before the energy assessor comes to your house Have copies or a summary of the home's annual energy bills on hand (Your utility company may be able to provide these, or you may be able to obtain them online.) This information is used by assessors to determine what to look for during the assessment The assessor will also speak with you to better understand your assessment needs and interests The assessor will look at the outside of the house to determine its size and features (i.e., wall area, number, and size of windows). The assessor will then examine how you use your home:

Is anyone home during the day?

· What is the typical summer and winter thermostat setting?

How many people do you think live in the house?

· Is every room occupied?
