LOS ANGELES - Taylor Swift announced a new album titled “Reputation” on Wednesday, just over a week after scoring a court victory at a high-profile groping trial in Colorado.

The singer made the announcement in a series of Instagram images, including a possible album cover featuring a black and white illustration of Swift with newspaperstyle headlines overlapping part of her face. The album will be released Nov. 10, and the first single will debut on Thursday. Swift, 27, ended a six-month absence from the spotlight to deliver unflinching testimony against a radio DJ in a Denver court earlier this month. She was awarded the symbolic $1 in damages that she had sought after a federal jury in Denver found the DJ had grabbed her bottom while posing for a photo with her in 2013. The singer, one of the most followed people on social media, followed her court victory by deleting posts from Instagram, Twitter and removing her avatar from her Facebook page, sending fans into a frenzy speculating about

whether Swift had been hacked or was preparing to launch new music or reinvent herself. “Reputation” will come three years after Swift’s 2014 best-selling album “1989,” which spawned hits such as “Shake It Off” and “Bad Blood.” Swift, who broke out at the age of 16 with her debut album and has become one of pop music’s best-selling solo artists, carved a career writing songs that delve into her own experiences of love, friendship and growing up in the public eye. Her lyrics are often scrutinized by eager fans for references to former flames or friends such as her relationships with singers such as John Mayer and Harry Styles and feud with fellow pop star Katy Perry. “Reputation” may focus on the singer’s struggle with media scrutiny of her private life, which she has spoken about in previous interviews. Morgan Freeman to get Screen Actors lifetime award

LOS ANGELES - Morgan Freeman, the versatile actor known for playing gods, presidents and pimps, will be honored with the 2017 lifetime achievement award by the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) at its annual ceremony in January. Freeman, 80, whose prolific career spans 50 years and more than 100 movies, will join the likes of past recipients Lily Tomlin, Debbie Reynolds and Dick Van Dyke when he gets the honor at a Los Angeles ceremony on Jan. 21. SAG announced the award on Tuesday. “Some actors spend their entire careers waiting for the perfect role. Morgan showed us that true

perfection is what a performer brings to the part,” SAG-AFTRA president Gabrielle Carteris said in a statement. “He is innovative, fearless and completely unbound by expectations,” she added. The award is given annually to the actor who fosters the finest ideals of the acting profession. Danish police identify torso as missing submarine journalist

COPENHAGEN - Police on Wednesday identified a headless female torso washed ashore in Copenhagen as that of Swedish reporter Kim Wall, who they believe was killed by a Danish inventor on board his home-made submarine. Wall, who was researching a story on inventor Peter Madsen, went missing after he took her out to sea in his 17-metre (56-foot) submarine on Aug. 10. He denies killing her, saying she died in an accident.

Announcing the results of tests on the torso, discovered by a passing cyclist on Monday, police spokesman Jens Moller said it had suffered damage suggesting “an attempt to make sure air and gas inside should leave the body so that it would not rise from the seabed”. He added: “There was also some metal attached to the body, allegedly also to make sure the body would sink to the bottom.” The arms, legs and head had been sawn from the body. Analysis showed a match with Wall’s DNA, which the police had gathered from a toothbrush and a hairbrush, and with blood found in the submarine, Moller said. Police still do not know the cause of death, and divers are searching for more body parts. Madsen, 46, is charged with manslaughter, which carries a sentence of between five years and life in prison. From all corners of the world comes proof of Kim as a person who made a difference.” Madsen has told a court that following the alleged accident, he “buried” Wall at sea - changing his initial statement to police that he dropped her off alive in Copenhagen.

A day after taking Wall out on his UC3 Nautilus submarine, the inventor was rescued after the vessel sank. Police found nobody else on board. The submarine is one of three constructed by Madsen and one of the largest privately built ones in the world. Written gold leaf endek enters presidential palace BANGLI - A number of products yielded by Bangli society begin to draw the interest of presidential palace. In addition to Kintamani coffee, woven fabric products like written gold leaf endek produced by craftsman A.A. Tirta Ray also managed to attract the attention of spouses of the presidential palace officials. As planned, in the near future, the written gold leaf endek will be one of the products to be showcased at the presidential palace in the anniversary of Dekranasda. When met at Jehem Palace, Jehem Kelod, Tembuku, on Wednesday (Aug. 23), A.A. Tirta Ray, said that he has been innovating to create endek fabrics with gold leaf since 1994. However, the quality of gold leaf endek produced at that time was not as good as the quality of the current products. The gold leaf endek fabric was then made with painting technique, where the gold leaf quickly peeled out and was not durable. Then in 2015, he made innovation by applying gold leaf on a piece of endek cloth using special tools such as small bottles and gold leaf of better quality. Today, the result of gold leaf products has better quality and can be washed like a cloth in general and does not easily peel out. In the meantime, when asked about the price, Agung Tirta said it varies depending on the type. A piece of endek cloth decorated with glitter gold leaf is sold for IDR 750,000, while the endek cloth with pearl gold leaf decoration is sold in the range of IDR 500-IDR 600,000 per sheet and regular gold leaf is sold for IDR 400,000. SEMARAPURA - Dozens of family heads at Sente hamlet, Pikat, Dawan, no longer enjoy methane gas coming from waste at Sente landfill. This followed the dissolution of gas pipeline network one month ago. Under this condition, they entirely return to rely on LPG for daily needs. As seen on Wednesday (Aug. 23), the entire gas distribution pipelines previously installed in the trash have been entirely removed and only placed in the landfill park. One of the local scavengers, Nyoman Setiari, said that it has been going on since a month ago. “I do not know what it caused. Formerly, it was installed in the trash,” she said. Hamlet chief of Sente, Nengah Sutaryajana, said that withdrawal of the pipeline was done directly to the landfill management. It was done as considered to have disrupted the garbage trucks. “Withdrawal of the pipelines has been notified,” he said. He continued that such withdrawal has caused 30 families to no longer be able to enjoy the methane gas channeled for free. To meet daily needs, they are forced to entirely return to LPG. “Gas from the landfill is only auxiliary. Now, residents automatically return to the use of 3-kg LPG,” he said. In the meantime, the landfill of-

ficial, Ketut Sudiarta, explained the distribution network was withdrawn due to zero gas production after raining. AMLAPURA - Recent cold weather has not only made people’s skin shrivel but also made a number of public bathing places in Karangasem loose customers. The holy water bathing pool at Ujung Hyang Hamlet, Tumbu, Karangasem where people often come to perform the melukat purification rite was however crowded on Pagerwesi (Wednesday, Aug. 23). By 8:00 the Ujung Hyang bathing pool was filled with pilgrims from Amplapura and surrounding area, there were even people from outside of Karangasem. Many people came just to take a dip, while others performed melukat purification. This ritual purification of the unseen (niskala) is usually performed in front of the Trita Temple located in the upstream pool located in the north. The atmosphere of Ujung Hyang is still fresh with lush natrual surroundings and the entrance fee is only IDR 2,000, making this an attractive site for many. “If I don’t come to bathe here, I usually go to Tirtagagga”, said Gede Windu an 18 year old visitor from Subagan, Karangasem.

Although the water in the pool is fairly cold, visitors are willing to soak for hours, especially in the heat of the day. On Wednesday however it was not so much the blazing hot sun that brought visitors, but rather the fact that schools are closed in Pagerwesi and many offices are also closed. The Tirta pool is in fact located on private land owned by Ida Pedanda Manik Mas’ wife who is from Ujung Hyang. The Ujung Water Palace is about 1.5 Kilometers from downtown Amplapura. “We usually have visitors in the early morning or in the evening but lately it has been very quiet here because of the cold weather”, said Ni Nengah Sumi, 35, and Ni Nengah Sudi, 30, Ida Pedanda Manik Mas’ daughters in law who no manage the public bathing area. Sumi added that there were a lot a lot of visitors on Banyu Pinaruh recently when the pools were crowded all day with people of all ages. “ We rent floaters for IDR 5,000 a piece”, explained Sumi. Even in the heat of the day the pool remains cool because it is located in the a small forest. (117)

Meet Lulu Hashimoto, the “living doll” fashion model

TOKYO - Meet Lulu Hashimoto, a “living doll” and the latest trend in Tokyo’s fashion modelling scene. Lulu - a full-body doll suit consisting of a wig, a mask and stockings patterned with doll-like joints - was born from one woman’s desire to become cute. “I have always really liked dolls and for me, the epitome of cuteness is dolls,” said the 23-year-old fashion designer Hitomi Komaki, who created Lulu. Dressing up as a mascot, called

“kigurumi” in Japanese, is a popular art form in Japan. Komaki has taken it to a new level by creating a body suit that looks like a doll and lets you move like a human. “Many people call my project a fetish, but for me it’s not a fetish but fashion,” she said. “It’s like wearing nice clothes or putting on false eyelashes to become cuter.” There is only one Lulu body suit, Komaki said, but dancers, designers and models are among those who have worn the costume.

The identity of exactly who is inside is secret, she added. The stockings worn by Lulu were created by fellow fashion designer Koh Ueno, who airbrushes doll-like joints onto the material. “I want to see women wear these stockings and transform,” said 29-year-old Ueno. “I want them to experience the extraordinary - to become otherworldly, artificial, or like a doll,” he said. Four cultural traditions of Karangasem named as national cultural heritage AMLAPURA - After the TerTeran and Gebug Ende cultural attractions, four other cultural traditions of Karangasem have been established as national cultural heritages. The determination of the four cultural traditions as intangible national cultural heritages was established through a session at the Millennium Hotel on Tuesday (Aug. 22). With this determination, the central government becomes partly respinsible for conservation efforts. The four cultural traditions of Karangasem that were designated as national cultural heritage this year are: the Usaba Sumbu of Timbrah customary village, Usaba Dangsil of Bungaya customary village as well as Selonding and Mekare-kare or Mageret Pandan of Tenganan village. Head of the Karangasem Culture Agency, Putu Arnawa, said on Tuesday (Aug. 22) that the session was led by Prof. Pudentia Maria Sri Sunarti, from the expert team of cultural heritage of the Ministry of Education and Culture. “This is good news for our culture. We have a lot of unique traditions, others will be included gradually” siad Arnawa. These four traditions were proposed because they are considered the most feasible according to the requirements set by the central government, especially the ministry of education and culture. But Arnawa emphasized that there are a lot of traditions in Karangasem that need

to be preserved. Proposals for other traditions to be included as national cultural heritages will be done gradually every year due to budgetary constraints. Once a tradition has been determined as an intangible national cultural heritage, then the government must take action to restore or reconstruct these traditions to ensure their continuity. Such measures have been taken to revive the art of Wayang Wong and Gambuh at Ban village, Kubu. Last year, two Karangasem traditions were established as intangible national cultural heritages. The Gebug Ende at Seraya village and Terteran at Jasri villages. After going through a session at the ministry of education and culture, the two traditions were officially determined as national cultural heritage. After this national designation, there are plans to propose that they be recognized by UNESCO as world cultural heritages. The proposal process will be undertaken by the central government. Another national cultural heritage title for Karangasem was also achieved from Tenganan’s distinctive geringsing cloth. It was established as a national cultural heritage a few years ago after Bali’s provincial government submitted a proposal to the central government. Moreover, after holding the title as national cultural heritage, the typical geringsing cloth of Tenganan was also established by UNESCO as world cultural heritage. (kmb31)

Headman of Jasri, I Nyoman Sutirtayasa, while attending the coordination meeting for rural and urban tourist destination development at Villa Warak, Karangasem, on Tuesday (Aug. 22) said that Jasri tourism village has a lot to offer. In addition to the familiar beaches, it also has trekking paths and cultural attractions such as terteran that frequently draws the attention of tourists. The village is also often targeted by foreign surfers. However, Sutirtayasa added that they still have trouble generating substantial revenue. “Honestly, we are the best tourism village not only in Bali but also nationwide, yet we are not making any money. So far we have only become the object of comparative studies and student research”, he said. Sutirtayasa is therefore asking for guidance from the local government and resource persons regarding how to manage this tourism village so that the local residence become empowered. Aside from just being an additional tourist destination in Karangasem, revenue needs to be generated for both the villagers and the local government. This marketing approach also controls how the product is shaped and managed as well as how to design the messages to tourists and to determine what type of tourist is being targeted. “I’d like to emphasize that branding is a promise that management needs to make happen. Branding with no management is pointless”, she said. This one-day event invited tourism players, executives and tourism village management to discuss relevant issues. BANGLI — Cemcem herbal drink makers are now lacking of ingredient. This happens because the supply of cemcem leaf as the main ingredient turns sluggish as entering the autumn. This condition causes the production to slightly decreases. This was revealed by one of the cemcem herbal drink makers, Ni Nengah Budianti. She said that her cemcem herbal drink business develops quite rapidly. However, she has difficulty to get cemcem leaf. This condition is caused by the cemcem leaf experiencing autumn. “Cemcem leaves have fallen since the beginning of July. In addition to the transitional season, strong winds often come and trigger the leaves to fall,” said Budianti. She revealed that due to lacking of ingredients, her herbal drink production slightly decreases. Before the fall of cemcem leaves, she could produce 1,500 bottles per day. Now, with this condition, she is only able to produce 700 bottles. Cemcem leaf is obtained from other villages, such as Demulih village (Susut subdistrict), Pengotan and Bunutin village (Bangli) as well as Yangapi village (Tembuku). “Here, cemcem leaves have begun to fall. I am forced to look for cemcem leaves outside the area. If only relying on the ingredients from here, my production of cemcem herbal drink is quite limited,” she explained. Further, she explained that in line with the development of tourism at Penglipuran village, the interest of community to taste cemcem herbal drink is very high. Since this herbal drink has been an ancestral heritage, she continues to focus on this business. Previously, she opened a small stall to sell this cemcem herbal drink. However, over time and the development of Penglipuran tourist attraction continues to advance, she eventually developed the business. “I would like to focus on this business. Macau struggles to recover from Typhoon Hato’s destruction

MACAU - Chaos and confusion gripped Macau on Thursday after one of the strongest typhoons on record hit the territory, killing at least nine people, and leaving more than half the city still without water and power, and casinos relying on back-up generators. Rescuers on Thursday searched submerged cars for trapped people in the former Portuguese territory, while overwhelmed emergency services scrambled to respond to crisis calls. Many residents and tourists complained that the government was woefully unprepared for Typhoon Hato and its destructive winds of more than 200 kmh (124 mph). Macau’s government broadcaster TDM said Typhoon Hato, a maximum signal 10 storm, was the strongest since 1968 to hit the world’s biggest gambling hub and home to around 600,000 people. “The city looks like it was just in a war,” said one civil servant, who declined to be named as they were not authorised to speak to the media. Hato on Wednesday hit the nearby financial hub of Hong Kong, uprooting trees, flooding streets, forcing hundreds of airline flights to be cancelled and halting financial trading. There were reports of

Video footage from Macau residents sent to Reuters showed a man struggling to keep his head above water in an enclosed carpark filled with debris, while another showed a large truck toppling over and pedestrians flung across pavements. Lee is jailed for corruption, people familiar with the matter said. Lee, 49, has been in detention since February, on trial for charges ranging from embezzlement to perjury in a scandal that prompted the ouster of the country’s ex-president Park Geun-hye. He denies wrongdoing, and a lower court will give its verdict on Friday, with prosecutors demanding a 12-year jail term. He would likely appeal any conviction. Facing a possible leadership vacuum, Samsung Group - whose businesses range from the world’s leading smartphone and chip maker to hotels and insurance - has no plans to set up a leadership committee or a new executive role to drive strategy and take key decisions. Cambodia, KrisEnergy sign deal to develop offshore oil field, first oil expected in 2019

PHNOM PENH - Cambodia signed an agreement with Singaporelisted KrisEnergy Ltd on Wednesday to develop an offshore oil field that could finally see Cambodia produce its own oil after years of delays. Cambodia has struggled to develop oil fields in the Gulf of Thailand, as few companies are willing to invest in the area following the 2014 global oil price slump. The agreement between Cambodia and KrisEnergy covers 3,083 sq km (1,190 square miles) of the Khmer basin in the Gulf of Thailand known as Block A, the company said in a statement. Oil will be produced from the Apsara field within the block and output is expected within 24 months of the official launch of the project. “Shortly after signing, we will declare a final investment decision and proceed to deliver first oil in 24 months - sometime in 2019,” said KrisEnergy Chief Operating Officer Kelvin Tang at a signing ceremony in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh. Tang said that KrisEnergy is looking for partners to invest in the project and that Cambodia will receive around $500 million in fees, taxes and royalties over the project’s lifespan. Cambodia’s Finance Minister Aun Pornmoniroth said the area is estimated to yield over 30 million barrels over a nine-year period and that Cambodia was ready to learn from other countries’ lessons and would not become oil-dependent. “It will not allow itself to become a heavily oil dependent economy,” Aun Pornmoniroth said. “It will instead use oil revenue to fuel structural transformation to sustain economic growth.” According to the agreement, KrisEnergy will own a 95 percent interest in the field while the Cambodian government will own the rest. The first phase of development of the Apsara field will start with a single production platform and could potentially expand to 10 platforms depending on a final oil output determination, KrisEnergy said in their statement. KrisEnergy bought out U.S. oil major Chevron Corp’s operating interest in Block A in 2014 for $65 million. Chevron found oil in 2004 in the block but failed to reach a development agreement with the Cambodian government.(rtr)

EU worker exodus threatens UK food industry, some leaving already - survey

LONDON - Nearly half of businesses operating in Britain’s food supply chain say European Union workers are thinking about leaving because of uncertainty around Brexit, an industry survey showed on Thursday. Food processing makes up the biggest chunk of British manufacturing and relies heavily on immigrants, all though much of debate so far around Britain’s departure from the EU has focused on sectors like car production and aerospace. Forty-seven percent of companies in Britain’s food supply chain -- which includes farms, food processors, supermarkets and restaurants -- said their EU workers were considering their future as a direct result of the June 2016 Brexit vote, according to the survey compiled by several trade bodies. Nearly a third of respondents to the survey, conducted between March and May, said some EU staff had already departed. While Britain’s economy has slowed sharply this year, evidence that the Brexit vote made an impact on the labour market is less clear. Still, official data last week showed the number of EU-born people working in Britain rose just 1.6 percent year-on-year in the second quarter, the weakest increase in seven years. “An abrupt reduction in the number of EU workers eligible to work in the UK after

Brexit would result in significant disruption for the entire food supply chain,” said Andrew Opie, director of food and sustainability at the British Retail Consortium. He added that this would have consequences for the availability and price of food in Britain. Around a fifth of the 2 million EU nationals working in Britain are employed in the food and drink supply chain. Thirty-six percent of companies in the survey said their businesses would be unviable without access to EU workers. Prime Minister Theresa May has said the government will guarantee the rights of EU citizens already in resident in Britain, but the details of a future immigration system are still unclear. “We must stress the urgency for more detailed information about a new system before 2019, if it is to be implemented once the two-year Article 50 period ends,” the report said.

The future of the border between the British province of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland was another worry cited by respondents in the survey. Britain wants no border posts or immigration checks between Ireland and the British province of Northern Ireland after Brexit, but critics have said this goal may be unworkable. The report said some companies could move to the Republic of Ireland if Brexit disrupts the Common Travel Area that currently exists with Northern Ireland. The survey, based on 627 companies, was compiled by the Food and Drink Federation. The banana heart or flower must remain intact at the end of each bunch. The stem and some pieces of banana leaf are also included. Dr. I Gusti Made Ngurah explained similar criteria adding that height of biu lalung is approximately 60 cm because the banana plant is still growing. Biu lalung is only complete he said, if the heart, fruit (phalam) and little leaves (patram) are intact. In the ritual procession, the banana will surely be sprinkled with holy water as the toyam. He added that it is imperative that biu lalung be available because the offerings on the surya shrine are the head of all the offerings in the yadnya or ritual implemented. All the ayaban-ayaban represent the body, while the bottom starting from the stage, caru to segehan including sate gelar sanga plays an important role as the legs. The head should be filled in with proper offerings on the surya shrine. “In this case, biu lalung is an offering and serves as a representation of something remaining natural that we can use as is. The U.S. State Department criticised Cambodia’s decision to expel the National Democratic Institute (NDI) on Wednesday and a statement from the U.S. embassy in Phnom Penh questioned whether Cambodia was a democracy. In an open letter on Thursday, the Cambodian government asked whether the United States was “coming to Cambodia to help or hinder the Khmer people” and blamed it for contributing to the rise of the genocidal Khmer Rouge in the 1970s. “Cambodians are well aware of what a democratic process means. You do not need to tell us what it is,” the letter said, describing U.S.-style democracy as “bloody and brutal”. “We wish to send a clear message again to the U.S. Embassy that we defend our national sovereignty,” it added. Tensions have risen anew in Cambodia, with rights groups and the United Nations expressing alarm and the opposition accusing Hun Sen of persecution ahead of next year’s election. After the government’s order to expel the NDI and a threat to shut a newspaper founded by an American journalist if it didn’t pay back taxes immediately, the U.S. State Department voiced concern at the government “curtailing freedom of the press and civil society’s ability

to operate”.

‘AMERICAN INTERFERENCE’

Government supporters have threatened to protest at the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh, the progovernment “Fresh News” web site reported on Thursday. “The protests are likely to be in large scale against the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh like in the 1960s because of the American interference in Cambodia’s sovereignty,” it said, citing an anonymous government source. The spillover from the U.S. war in neighbouring Vietnam in the 1960s and 70s helped bring to power the Khmer Rouge regime, whose rule was marked by the genocide of at least 1.8 million Cambodians through starvation, torture, disease and execution. Hun Sen, the former Khmer Rouge commander who is one of China’s closest regional allies, has warned of a possible return to war if his party doesn’t win elections. In a statement on its website on Wednesday the NDI called on Cambodia to reconsider its decision to shut it down. The institute said it worked with all major parties and that its work was “strictly nonpartisan”. NDI President Kenneth Wollack said the NDI has fulfilled all legal obligations for registration. Hun Sen has also targeted local media in what rights groups say is a growing crackdown ahead of the election. Cambodia’s ministry of information on Wednesday revoked the license of a local radio station for selling air time to the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party. The station also rents out space to the U.S. government-financed Voice of America (VOA) English news outlet. (rtr)

Indonesia, Vietnam renew cooperation in education

JAKARTA - Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir Effendy and Vietnamese Vice Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh signed an agreement on the renewal of cooperation in geducation between the two countries in Jakarta on Wednesday. According to a press release received by Antara, the five-year cooperation agreement was a renewal of the cooperation agreement made earlier in 2005. “The renewal of cooperation includes efforts to improve schools and strengthen relationships be-

Also agreed were the exchange of educational materials, publications, props, and information. The governments of both countries also agreed to organize various meetings, workshops, exhibitions, conferences, seminars, study visits, competitions, and educational scholarships. “There will be an exchange program of educational officials, experts, teachers, educational personnel, and students of both countries,” he noted. Police arrest two foreigners of international skimmer syndicate JAKARTA - The Indonesian Police have arrested two foreigners, allegedly members of an international syndicate, who broke into bank accounts by skimming debit cards. Chief of the Indonesian Police cybercrime unit, Senior Commissioner Irwan Anwar, stated here on Wednesday that the two foreigners included a Romanian and a Moldovan. The two suspects, identified by their initials II, 40; and IV, 37, were arrested at Varna Culture Hotel in East Java capital of Surabaya on Aug 4. Irwan noted that police have received reports on fake debit card use in several automatic teller machines (ATM) in Bali and East Java. Based on the investigation from CCTV recordings, the syndicate installed hidden camera and flash drive into the ATM from July 10 to 12. The suspects installed the skimmer and mini recording camera into the ATM, and data on debit cards were copied to other cards.

The fake debit cards and personal identification number (PIN) that had been recorded with the hidden camera were then used to withdraw money in Bali, Surabaya, and Mataram. “The case has caused financial loss of more than Rp600 million,” Irwan revealed. He disclosed that the two suspects were part of an international syndicate. “They have communications with the syndicate in the United States, Portugal, and Bulgaria. They also shared the stolen data with executors in the field.” The police have seized three Romanian and Moldovan passports, the suspects identity cards, boarding pass, five withdrawal receipts from ATMs, two keys to open ATM, three mini recorders, an avometer, encoder, four cellular phones, a laptop, external hard disc, digital camera, 25 debit cards, a receipt to exchange Euro, two suitcases, three pairs of shoes, and 29 clothes. The case is investigated under section 362 and 406 of criminal code and law no. 19/2016 on electronic information and transaction. (ant)

Since the fight between undefeated boxer Mayweather and mixed martial arts champion McGregor was announced in June, the two men took part in a profanity laced world tour to hype a bout that has been met with both skepticism and excitement. Wayne Rooney announces end of England career MANCHESTER - Wayne Rooney announced his retirement from the England national team on Wednesday, ending a 14year stint in which he became the country’s top goalscorer with 53 goals. Rooney said he had made the decision despite being told by England manager Gareth Southgate that he would be recalled to the squad for next month’s World Cup qualifiers. “It was great that Gareth Southgate called me this week to tell me he wanted me back in the England squad for the upcoming matches.
