The list, which also includes vetLOS ANGELES - Scottish musician Calvin Harris ruled Forbes’ annual list of electronic cash kings on Tuesday as he was named the eran French DJ David Guetta and highest-paid DJ for the fifth consecutive year, outpacing Dutch DJ German producer Zedd, highlights a lack of diversity in the DJ field, Tiesto and newcomers The Chainsmokers.
Harris, 33, brought in $48.5 million between June 2016 and June 2017, with earnings from residencies in Las Vegas and festival performances as well as from producing pop hits such as his latest summer track, “Feels” with Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams.
Tiesto, who topped the list in 2012, earned $39 million and came in at No. 2, while The Chainsmokers earned $38 million, bolstered by the chart-topping success of pop hits “Closer” with Halsey and “Something Just Like This” with Coldplay.

Denver DJ denies groping Taylor Swift in first day of trial testimony DENVER - A Colorado DJ accused of groping recording star Taylor Swift during a photo shoot four years ago testified on Tuesday that he innocently made physical contact with the singer as they posed together but denied a n y inappropriate behavior. Taking t h e witness stand on the first day of testimony at the federal court trial of their dueling lawsuits, Denver radio personality David Mueller said Swift’s allegations, which he emphatically denied, “cost me my career, my passion, my income.” Mueller, 55, who was fired from his $150,000-a-year job at radio station KYGO-
FM over Swift’s accusations, insisted that the case he brought against Swift was about more than just the loss of his livelihood and money. “I want to clear my name,” he said. “It’s a humiliating experience to be accused of something so despicable.” The U.S. District Court jury is weighing Mueller’s false-accusation claim against Swift’s cross complaint alleging assault and battery. The two cases were merged for trial. According to Swift, Mueller slipped his hand under her dress and grabbed her bare buttocks as the two posed, along with Mueller’s girlfriend, during a meet-and-greet session before a June 2013 concert in Denver. “It was not an accident, it was completely intentional, and I have never been so sure of anything in my life,” Swift, 27, said in
a deposition. Expected to take the witness stand herself later in the trial, Swift listened intently to Mueller’s testimony, resting her chin in her hand. Her mother, Andrea, seated beside her, teared up at an early mention of the alleged groping incident. Under questioning from his lawyer, Mueller recounted he may have made contact with the side of Swift’s body or brushed her arm and hand while they posed for pictures, but when asked if he had grabbed her backside, Mueller said flatly, “No, I did not.” Mueller testified he had no inkling anything was amiss until approached that evening by a member of Swift’s security team who related her allegation to him, threatened to call the police and then told Mueller he was banned from all future Swift concerts. Soldiers secure the area near the scene where French soliders were hit and injured by a vehicle in the western Paris suburb of Levallois-Perret, France, August 9, 2017.
Man held after BMW ‘deliberately’ ploughs into French soldiers in Paris
PARIS - Police hunting a driver who rammed his BMW into a group of French soldiers in western Paris, before speeding off, have arrested a suspect. The 37-year-old was stopped while driving towards the northern post of Calais, but officials said it was too early to say whether he was the man they were looking for. French media reported the suspect was shot during the arrest in a shootout with police. Six of a dozen or so troops were injured - three of them seriously - in the attack in the Levallois-Perret suburb of the city, which is being investigated by counter-terrorism officials. The attacker was waiting in the dark-coloured car in an alleyway before he drove at speed at the troops as they left their bar-
racks to go on patrol at around 8am local time.Nadia LeProhon heard the smash and came running out of her building to find two soldiers on the ground and other troops running after a vehicle shouting: “After him! Follow that car!” Mayor of Levallois-Perret, Patrick Balkany, condemned the attack as “an odious act of aggression”, adding: “Without any doubt, it was a deliberate act.” “It all happened very quickly. The vehicle did not stop. It hurtled at them... it accelerated rapidly,” he told broadcaster BFMTV. Officers and soldiers secured
the scene - situated around three miles from city centre landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower - as forensic teams combed the area for evidence and clues. Investigators were also scouring through CCTV footage from the suburb, as police stopped motorists in the region as they searched for the attacker. The Paris prosecutor’s office said it was “pursuing perpetrators on charges of the attempted murder of security forces in connection with a terrorist enterprise”. It means authorities believe the attack was intentional and planned with a terror-related motive. The soldiers, who were taken to a military hospital, were on duty as part of Operation Sentinelle, created to guard prominent French
sites after the Charlie Hebdo attack in January 2015. Sky’s Europe Correspondent Mark Stone said: “It is a subject of intense debate in France whether Operation Sentinelle - soldiers on the streets, helping out the police force - exacerbates the situation and they themselves become targets because they are literally everywhere, not only in Paris.”The attack comes four days after a teenager with a knife forced his way into the Eiffel Tower shouting “Allahu akbar” - the Arabic phrase for “God is great” - and told police he wanted to attack a soldier. It is the sixth time soldiers involved in the nationwide security crackdown have been targeted. In February, a man with a machete
attacked troops near the Louvre Museum. French defence minister Florence Parly described Wednesday’s attack as “cowardly”, adding that it “does nothing to dent soldiers’ determination to work for the security of the French people”. France has been under a state of emergency since the November 2015 attacks in the French capital which left 130 people dead.(rtr) News can also be heard in “Bali Image” at Global Radio FM 96.5 from 9.30 until 10.00 am.
