Griya Sakti Temple riya Sakti Bukit Bangli Temple is one of the dang khayangan temples (a tribute temple to ancient saint) located on Jalan Nusantara, Brahmana hamlet, Cempaga village, Bangli County. existence of the temple venerated by approximately 300 residents of Brahmana hamlet was inseparable from the pilgrimage of Ida Pedanda Sakti Bawu Rauh, also known as Dang Hyang Nirartha. It was told that Ida Pedanda Sakti Bawu Rauh had five children namely Ida Ler, Ida Lor, Ida Wetan, Ida Kulon and together with his eldest daughter Ida Ayu Swabhawa traveled to Bali from Java. In short, when he arrived at Pulaki, Buleleng, Ida Ayu Swabhawa was left from the entourage of his father. There, Ida Ayu Swabhawa or better known as Ida Ayu Melanting got reunion with God or moksha and she was subsequently venerated by local people by establishing a threetiered meru shrine. Meanwhile, it was also told about Ida Pedanda Ketut Buruan also known as Ida Pedanda Sakti Manuaba denoting the son of Ida Ler being managed to build a dam at Tegallalang, Ubud, Gianyar. It could irrigate the local farmland so as to make the Tegallalang region prosperous. His residence is now known as the Griya Sakti Manuaba Temple. Ida Pedanda Manuaba had five children. One of them was Ida Pedanda Bajangan. One day, he asked for the venue for yoga or meditation to his father. When Ida Pedanda Bajangan was tested to perform yoga by his father, his father suddenly saw flames towering up to Mount Kaloka. Since then, Ida Pedanda Bajangan was directed by his father to travel eastward to Mount Kaloka, said Ida Pedanda Putu Oka who is still active in the management of the Hindu Dharma Council of Indonesia (PHDI) of Bangli Chapter. His pilgrimage was not profiled, but when Ida Pedanda Bajangan arrived on Mount Kaloka, he then saw a three-tiered meru shrine in the west of the mountain. Griya Sakti Manuaba was eventually destroyed by the repeated attacks of Gusti Ngurah Watu Lepang. Small children of Ida Pedanda Manuaba were then evacuated to his relative namely Ida Pedanda Bajangan at Bukit Bangli. Not long after, Ida Pedanda Manuaba died and his descendants then made a tribute shrine in the form of representation shrine. Since it is very closely related to Griya Sakti Manuaba Temple at Tegallalang in Gianyar, the temple perched on the Bangli hilltop was then named the Griya Sakti Bukit Bangli Temple. Its piodalan or temple anniversary falls on Wraspati (Thursday) Paing Kulantir. They are not only satisfied with capturing through photos, but they also scramble to try it. They are willing to get in touch with mud when trying with local farmers. Well, this is the atmosphere of plowing with foreign tourists at Baru village, Marga, Tabanan. In the green paddy field area, tourists can join in the plowing activities to experience the activities of farmers in Bali. When doing it, they are guided by a farmer, so that the cow can pull in accor-

dance with the track. “I do not let them plow alone,” said Ni Putu Supasti, a women farmer offering the plowing attraction. Tourists wishing to get involved in the plowing activities are firstly invited to sit relaxingly in a simple field hut. Subsequently, they are served with a stamina enhancer drink made of roasted young coconut mixed with egg. They are then given an explanation of the purpose, tools and methods of plowing. After that, tourists are given bamboo steamer-like hat. At first, the cows are directed to the edge of paddy field, so that tourists can ride on the wooden plow. The cows walk around the fields. Ni Putu Supasti who follows just keeps talking (sort of sign language) to her cows so as to keep going on the track. In mid-track, the cows stop based on the order of Ni Putu Supasti. Tourists are given the opportunity to capture the moment with their camera. With her husband I Made Suparta (Mr. Risa), she has a specialty to turn tourists into a farmer of her own way. After plowing, tourists are invited to start transplanting paddy traditionally. They are introduced how to the process making paddy grain into rice. Similarly, they are invited to catch fish in small pond, climbing coconut trees and picking fruits in paddy field. Ultimately, tourists are taken to visit organic ornamental plants and Rumah Desa, a community activity of ancient Bali, such as ngelawar (preparing Balinese cuisine) and others. According to Supasti, in a day there are always tourists taking the plowing activity. Yet their amount is uncertain depending on the tourism condition. “There are always tourists wishing to plow every day. They are mostly European tourists as well as those from other countries. The souvenir in the form of Balinese snack is distributed free of charge as a service. “We try this new promotional program by giving typical souvenir of Bali to visitors,” said Operations Manager, Ketut Toya Adnyana. Toya Adnyana added that the souvenir handing out program started in early October 2017. Domestic and foreign tourists respond it very positively. Moreover, they propose to increase the quantity. “It is a typical Balinese souvenir product produced by the Micro, Small and

Medium Enterprise (MSME) of Tabanan district. Other than as promotional medium, this is also meant to supports the MSMEs of Tabanan,” he added. Collaboration of the promotion of Tanah Lot and the MSMEs, explained Toya Adnyana, poses the continuation of Tanah Lot Kreatifood event held some time ago. Thus, the festival is not only an event, but can run sustainably and give a positive impact to MSMEs in Tabanan. “Happy Hours program as a regular promotional agenda every month still runs in addition to the souvenir handing out,” he said. Jaja Iku-Iku, a Sweet and Sticky Cake elight your senses in Balinese traditional cakes. Local community has a variety of sticky and sweet jaja (cake). Various types of cake are made specifically to be part of ritual, offered to the ancestors, while some others are made deliberately for consumption. However, all the cakes are usually used for offering other than for snacks and on the way round. One of the cakes serving as a part of ritual, but usually presented as the offering, is the iku-iku cake. This round and oval-shaped cake with a flat bottom like a turtle has a sweet taste and sticky. Sweet taste is prostrated not due to artificial sweetener, but it is from pure sugar. For the base, it uses banana leaf to avoid chemicals. Jaja iku-iku is often used as a snack by farmers served in their mutual assistance. For example, it is served when transplanting paddy seedlings in mutual assistance in the fields. In such a mass activity, it is usually accompanied with the provision of small

lunch party. Jaja iku-iku is served as dessert after having the main course. At that time, various cakes are usually accompanied with coffee or tea. Allegedly the cake is the result of acculturation of Balinese-Chinese culinary tradition because every Chinese feast day, Chinese-descendant people pass this cake to their neighbors. Jaja iku-iku has round and flat shape, like a turtle is made based on or in accordance with the mold. On the top it has a variety of shapes and images. There are floral, turtle and other motif. It corresponds to the image of the mold. Commonly, it has 2 - 3 different images. The ingredient of this cake is glutinous rice flour. As alternative ingredient, people commonly use cassava or sweet potato. Other ingredients include white sugar, palm (brown) sugar, grated coconut, salt and others. The finely grounded flour is brewed with water (filled with hot water) and then squeezed to be smooth and supple. Optionally, it can be added with salt to taste, so as to produce a better taste. If wishing to have color, simply use natural green color of leaf in order to look more interesting.

At the same time, please prepare the sauce (to fill inside the cake), grated coconut mixed with white sugar or brown sugar and then roasted until it is evenly distributed. The sauce is then wrapped in flour to form like a small ball. Afterward, prepare the mold previously filled with clean flour, so the mold will be easily taken out. Put the flour into the mold and then pressed, so it can be shaped according to the mold. Then, take out and put on leaves and then steam. Having cooked, cool them down. At that time, humans dispose of the lust of animalistic temptation into a divine nature, making non-good into good. Therefore, on the penampahan, other than making Balinese food like lawar delicacy, people also prepare ritual paraphernalia in the afternoon. One of the banten or oblations made is prayascita, as a symbol of self-purification carried out around 18:00-19:00. The ceremony is followed by all family members, so that everything can already feel free from temptation. In the afternoon of the penampahan day, devotees install penjor, meaning that humans can be aware of temptation at that time, so they start doing the seconds of independence. Installing penjor is the symbol of human independence from worldly temptations to achieve prosperity of life. It happens because in the processing the BUMDes involves five farmer groups to roast different coffee. Although the BUMDes has not yet showed the profits, Wintara said the existence of the enterprise has been already able to help increase the welfare of farmers. The assistance of IDR 200 million from district government is used by the BUMDes to buy Robusta coffee from farmers above the market price of IDR 28,000 for green bean or raw cof-

fee. Price of the green bean in the market is lower, namely at IDR 26,000. BUMDes is not limited to buying coffee of farmers at market price, but also empowers farmer groups to roast coffee according to the standard of Kopi Leak. For this, BUMDes gives a wage worth IDR 5,000 per kilogram. “Thus, the benefits of BUMDes can be enjoyed by farmers although the BUMDes seems to have not obtained any advantages. The program is focused on the farmers first, while the management is still paying devotional work or ngayah,” said Wintara. Wintara said that farmers are encouraged to improve the quality of their coffee beans harvest to meet the standard quality of Kopi Leak with the harvest quality expected to be red picked. When roasting, the procedure must comply with the standard of Kopi Leak. Regardless, it frees farmers to make their taste creations beyond the taste of Kopi Leak. “It’s okay to create their brand,” said Wiantara. With such a freedom, when purchasing coffee at Munduk Temu people will not just find one brand namely the Kopi Leak, but a variety of brands. After promoted, the taste of Kopi Leak, said Wintara, began to be known and people are getting interested. In addition to sales through the BUMD Tabanan, currently the Kopi Leak has started to enter souvenir market like on Pandawa Beach and Waka Bali. The equipment required to process Kopi Leak is a modern coffee roaster machine. BUMDes already has owned a semi-modern tool. So, it is quite difficult to produce coffee with the same taste. “We still need the existence of a modern machine because the temperature can be set automatically,” he said. He added that residents frequently do purificatory rite at Tirta Suganing on Kajeng Kliwon. The statue will be built at the three-way intersection to the turtle breeding area in the east of Segara Penimbangan Temple. A saving turtle activist, Dedy Yastika, said that turtle conservation activities and coral garden on the Penimbangan Beach has increasingly developed lately. In line with the condition, together with fishermen, village apparatus, and the support of private parties, he will build a turtle statue at the entrance to the turtle conservation area and the garden of coral reef on Penimbangan Beach. Construction of the turtle statue is important to show off to the public that Penimbangan Beach is not only a tourist attraction, but also a conservation area for turtles and coral garden. Mengening Temple, a Spiritual Destination in Gianyar Inside the temple, there is a spring used as a place to invoke holy water as a means of ceremony for Balinese Hindus.
