SYDNEY - Academy award-winner Geoffrey Rush was accused in court on Tuesday of inappropriately touching a female costar during an Australian rendition of ‘King Lear.’ Eryn Jean Norvill said that the ‘Tailor of Panama’ and ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star had made her feel “belittled, embarrassed and shamed” when the pair acted together in the Shakespeare play in 2015-2016. She told a court hearing that he stood over her during rehearsal “licking his lips” and once on stage deliberately ran his hand in a manner that was “slow, light and pressured across my breast.” “I believed that he had done it deliberately,” national broadcaster ABC reported Norvill as saying. Rush, who won a best actor Oscar award for his portrayal of pianist David Helfgott in

the film ‘Shine’, is not being charged with any misconduct. The testimony came because he is suing Sydney’s Daily Telegraph for defamation after they printed allegations that he behaved inappropriately toward a female actress. Norvill is the latest in a series of witnesses to take the stand in the case. Most have testified that they saw no evidence of Rush behaving improperly. (afp)

Johnny Depp ‘dropped from Pirates Of The Caribbean’ LOS ANGELES - Johnny Depp has been dropped from new Pirates Of The Caribbean films, according to reports. The actor, 55, has starred in five films over the past 15 years, but it seems he may have made his last appearance as Captain Jack Sparrow. Original scriptwriter Stuart Beattie appeared to confirm the news to DailyMail TV as he revealed Disney has plans to rework the franchise. While he did not confirm or deny when it was put to him that it seemed Depp is “finished as the lead of these movies”, Beattie nodded when it was suggested the star was out, and said: “I think he’s had a great run. Johnny Depp has played Captain Jack Sparrow in five Pirates Of The Caribbean films.

“Obviously, he’s made that character his own and it’s become the thing that he’s most famous for now. “And kids all over the world love him as that character so I think it’s been great for him, it’s been great for us, so I’m just very, very happy about it.” Beattie, who will not be working on the new films, said: “There’s that saying, ‘don’t frown because it’s over, smile because it happened’. “The fact they’re rebooting something that you did means that you did something that is worth rebooting. I tend to look at it as the glass half full and I just think it’s an honour to be rebooted.” Depp’s personal life has made headlines over the past few years. He split from now ex-wife Amber Heard in 2016 amid highly publicised claims of domestic violence and counter-claims of financial blackmail. (IBP/ net)

Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo (L), Indonesia’s Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi (C), and National Search and Rescue head Muhammad Syaugi (R) inspect recovered debris from the ill-fated Lion Air flight JT 610 while touring the operations centre at a port in northern Jakarta on October 30, 2018.

Indonesia sifts through plane debris, orders jet inspection

Indonesia ordered the inspection of all Boeing 737-MAX airliners on Tuesday as rescue teams recovered more human remains from a brand new Lion Air jet that plunged into the sea with 189 people on board.

There were 178 adult passengers, one child, two infants, two pilots and six cabin crew on board.

On a Jakarta dockside, officials took up the grim task of separating human remains from plane debris and recovered personal effects, sending the body parts -- including from an infant -- to hospital for DNA testing. Stretched out along the dock was a growing collection of items plucked from the sea -- single shoes, torn pieces of clothing, wallets and bags scattered among aircraft seats stripped of their blue covers by the sheer impact of the crash.

- Grieving relatives Scores of relatives thronged a hospital building being used for victim identification. “My daughter has no husband, my grandchild no longer has a father,” a grieving Hari Setiyono said at the police hospital, referring to his missing son-in-law. Febby Mellysa had four relatives aboard the doomed jet, including her cousin, his wife and their five-year-old son. “We tried to call my cousin and his wife so

The Boeing-737 MAX, which went into service just a few months ago, crashed into the Java Sea off Indonesia’s northern coast moments after it had asked to return to Jakarta on Monday. Flight JT610 sped up as it suddenly lost altitude and then vanished from radar 12 minutes after take-off, with witnesses saying the single-aisle jet plunged into the water. The accident has resurrected concerns about Indonesia’s patchy air safety record which led to a

now-lifted ban on its planes entering US and European airspace. On Tuesday Indonesia’s transport minister ordered an inspection of all 737-MAX aircraft but he stopped short of grounding the new models. Dozens of divers were taking part in the recovery effort along with helicopters and ships. Authorities are trying to pinpoint the smashed jet’s location and flight data recorders expected to be crucial to the crash investigation.

many times, but their phone wasn’t active,” she told AFP. “The whole family is confused about what to do next.” Indonesia’s search and rescue agency has all but ruled out finding any survivors from the high-impact crash in water some 30-40 metres deep.
