Man arrested over ‘sexual assault’ on Atomic Kitten singer Natasha Hamilton LONDON - A man has been arrested over an alleged sexual assault on Atomic Kitten singer Natasha Hamilton on a train. The chart-topping singer, 36, tweeted on 10 October that a man pushed his genitals up against her on a late night train from London Bridge to Elmstead Woods. British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed on Friday that a 46year-old man from Wood Green was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault. Hamilton said she thought a bag was pressed up against her “until I felt him heavy breathing down my neck”. She managed to take a picture of the man which she posted on Twitter in the hope her 163,000 followers would help to find him. “Honesty I am shaking a feel

so violated now! But more than anything I am so angry!! [sic],” she said. She said she also called BTP after leaving the train. Police said the man has been released under police investigation and they are making further enquiries. Social media users criticised Hamilton for posting a picture of the man, saying she should leave the police to handle her complaint. However, others said posting his picture would help prevent others from doing the same. Women who said they had been victims of sexual assault on trains opened up about their experiences, with many congratulating Hamilton for speaking out as they had frozen in shock when it happened to them. Starring Jamie Lee Curtis, the low-budget Universal Pictures production recounts her character Laurie Strode’s final confrontation with a masked homicidal maniac four decades after surviving his killing spree. The movie’s return to the top spot over the three day weekend followed its $76.2 million debut last week, the second best October opening ever after “Venom.” “A Star is Born,” the third remake of the 1937 film, placed second for a third straight week, earning $14.1 million.

Bradley Cooper, in his directorial debut, plays a hard-drinking musician in this classic tale of a star-crossed love affair with a young singer (Lady Gaga). Sony’s Superhero flick “Venom,” which stars Tom Hardy as a journalist-turned-host for an alien creature, held its ground at third place with an estimated $10.8 million take. It has pulled in $187.3 million dollars since its smash opening four weeks ago. “Goosebumps2: Haunted Halloween,” another seasonal offering, kept its fourth place ranking with

$7.5 million in box office returns. Based on R.L. Stine children’s books, it follows two young friends who bring to life a dummy, played by Jack Black, unleashing monsters on their town on Halloween night. The only new release in the top five was “Hunter Killer,” an action thriller from Lionsgate about Navy SEALs who rescue a Russian president from a coup. Starring Gerard Butler, Gary Oldman and Michael Nyquist, it is estimated to have made $6.7 million over the three day weekend. (afp)

Members of a rescue team collect personal items and wreckage at the port in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, on October 29, 2018, after they were recovered from the sea where Lion Air flight JT 610 crashed off the north coast earlier in the day. A brand new Indonesian Lion Air plane carrying 189 passengers and crew crashed into the sea on October 29, officials said, moments after it had asked to be allowed to return to Jakarta.

Indonesian Lion Air plane crashes into sea with 188 passengers, crew

An Indonesian Lion Air plane carrying 188 passengers and crew crashed into the sea Monday, officials said, moments after it had asked to be allowed to return to Jakarta. The jet vanished from radar just 13 minutes after taking off from the Indonesian capital, plunging into the ocean. Search and Rescue Agency spokesman Yusuf Latif said authorities were still searching for the remains of the plane, which lost contact with air traffic control around 6.30 am (2330 GMT), en route to Pangkal Pinang on the island of Bangka. “The plane crashed into water about 30 to 40 metres deep,” he told AFP. Sindu Rahayu, directorate general of Civil Aviation at the transport ministry, said the aircraft was carrying 178 adult

passengers, one child and two babies, with two pilots and five flight attendants. “The plane had requested to return to base before finally disappearing from the radar,” he added in a statement. The Flightradar website tracked the plane -- which it said was a Boeing 737 -- and showed it looping south on take-off and then heading north before the flight path ended abruptly over the Java Sea, not far from the coast.

- Poor safety record Indonesia relies heavily on air transport to connect its thousands of islands but has a poor aviation safety record and has suffered several fatal crashes in recent years. A 12-year-old boy was the sole survivor of a plane crash that killed eight people in mountainous eastern Indonesia in August. In August 2015, a commercial passenger aircraft operated by Indonesian carrier Trigana crashed in Papua due to bad weather, killing all 54 people on board. In 2014, an AirAsia plane crashed with the loss of 162 lives. Indonesian investigators’ final report showed a chronically faulty

component in a rudder control system, poor maintenance and the pilots’ inadequate response were major factors in what was supposed to be a routine flight from the Indonesian city of Surabaya to Singapore. Lion Air, a low-cost airline, has been involved in a number of incidents. Continued to page 6 News can also be heard in “Bali Image” at Global Radio FM 96.5 from 9.30 until 10.00 am. Around 20 people were also killed on the ground and several housing blocks torn apart. The Armed Forces has been beleaguered by a string of fatal accidents in recent years. - Air Force fire In 1991, an Air Force plane crashed in East Jakarta minutes after take off when an engine caught fire, killing 135 people according to reports. Those who died included 121 airmen, 12 crew and two people on the ground. One passenger survived. - River crash In 1997, a Silk Air flight crashed into a river near the Indonesian city of Palembang while on its way to Singapore from Jakarta. All 104 passengers and crew were killed in what was investigated as a possible pilot murder-suicide. - New Year’s Day crash An Adam Air plane plunged into the sea off Sulawesi island on New Year’s Day 2007, killing all 102 people on board. The airline was later banned from flying. Indonesian authorities said the pilots lost control after becoming preoccupied with malfunctioning navigational equipment.
