US model Blac Chyna under fire for putting name to skinlightening cream CALIFORNIA - US model Blac Chyna is facing backlash for putting her name to a skin-lightening cream which promises to give skin a “brightening glow” while users “retain luminosity”. The 30-year-old, who was notably in relationships with TV personality Rob Kardashian and rapper Tyga previously, teamed up with the brand Whitenicious to release the product, which goes for $250 (£196) a tub. According to promotional material for the Whitenicious x Blac Chyna Collection, it “brightens, lightens without bleaching skin out”. It also “improves the appearance of dull, discoloured skin, visibly stamping out unevenness to leave the complexion illuminated” with users able to see a “reduction in the visibility and intensity of age spots, lightening their appearance”. The firm behind the product was
founded by Cameroonian singer Dencia and has been at the centre of controversy since in launched four years ago. On Twitter, she hit back at critics claiming the product contained harmful ingredients, saying her range was FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and NAFDAC (National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control) approved. Ahead of the product’s launch event in Nigeria on Sunday, Dencia wrote: “It’s a face cream, face cream 100g jar kindly read about it, why do u all seat (sic) & mislead people? “Why can’t black folks be honest? What has it got to do with colorism?” Whitenicious says its products are meant to be used for conditions such as hyperpigmentation, where people develop dark spots on their skin. (IBP/net)

Keanu Reeves has ‘great part’ in Toy Story 4
LOS ANGELES - Keanu Reeves will voice a character in Toy Story 4, the voice of Buzz Lightyear has revealed.

Tim Allen, who plays the “To infinity and beyond” favourite, did not go into detail but said the Matrix star had a “great part”, before gesturing with his fingers to indicate a small toy. Toy Story 4 is due to be released next year, eight years after the previous film. A trailer released earlier this month confirmed Tom Hanks would be returning as Sheriff Woody and Joan Cusack as Jessie. Appearing on The Tonight Show, Allen, who first played Buzz in the 1995 original, said recording the final scene of the upcoming film was very emotional.
He said: “Hanks said it best - of course, he always says stuff best - but the last scene of the movie I couldn’t even get through it. I thought there were pages after it. “I read it and I had to turn around from reading it in the studio, it was so emotional.” Referring to the famous final scene of the movie classic Gone With the Wind, Allen added: “It’s a ‘Scarlett, I don’t give a damn moment’.” Along with Buzz and Woody, other Toy Story stalwarts including Mr Potato Head, Rex, Hamm and Slinky Dog return in the latest instalment. A new character, a spork
with googly eyes called Forky, is also part of the line-up. Allen, 65, known for his role in US sitcom Home Improvement, said the film would surprise fans. He said: “It is so good, these guys are geniuses, it’s so deep and moving and a wonderful plot. I can’t give anything away, but it’s about different kinds of toys. “They will really surprise you with the toys they come up with, characters come back, new guys (are) in it.” Toy Story was released in 1995 and was the first ever fully computer animated feature film. It was nominated for three Oscars. Toy Story 4 will be released in cinemas on 21 June next year. (IBP/net)

This handout photo taken and released on November 26, 2018 from the New Zealand Department of Conservation shows dead pilot whales on a remote beach on Stewart Island in the far south of New Zealand. Up to 145 pilot whales have died in a mass stranding on a remote part of a small New Zealand island, authorities said on November 26.
145 whales die on remote New Zealand beach
Up to 145 pilot whales have died in a mass stranding in a remote part of New Zealand, with authorities saying Monday they made the “heart-breaking” decision to euthanise dozens that lay stricken on the shore. The stranding was discovered by a hiker late Saturday on Stewart Island, 30 kilometres (19 miles) off the southern coast of the South Island. Half of the whales were already dead and due to the condition of the remaining whales and the remote, difficult-to-access location, the decision was made to euthanise the remainder. “Sadly, the likelihood of being able to successfully re-float the remaining whales was extremely
low,” said Ren Leppens, the Department of Conservation’s operations manager on Stewart Island. “The remote location, lack of nearby personnel and the whales’ deteriorating condition meant the most humane thing to do was to euthanise. “However, it’s always a heart-breaking decision to make.” It was one of four strandings discovered on New Zealand shores over the weekend which stretched DOC resources.
In the far north of New Zealand, eight pygmy killer whales were transported by truck to the east coast from the west where sea conditions were too rough to refloat them. Two of the pod had to be euthanised, but Daren Grover of the marine conservation group Project Jonah said the remainder were saved by transporting them by road to the more-sheltered east coast 20 kilometres away. “It’s highly stressful for the
whales, but they’ll be using suitable padding to protect them,” he told Fairfax Media. They were to be kept in a stream overnight and refloated at high tide on Tuesday morning. There were two other whale strandings over the weekend in New Zealand, where beachings are relatively common with the conservation department responding to an average 85 incidents a year, mostly of single animals. A sperm whale which beached in Doubtless Bay died overnight on Saturday, while the body of a dead female pygmy sperm whale was found at Ohiwa on the west coast
of the North Island. Exactly why whales and dolphins strand is not fully known but factors can include sickness, navigational error, geographical features, a rapidly falling tide, being chased by a predator, or extreme weather.
