the actor’s personal collection, his publicist, Shawn Sachs, said Thursday. Naomi Campbell, Orlando Bloom and Kate Hudson attended the event, which included performances by Elton John and John Legend. Other items in the auction included an estate on DiCaprio’s private Belize island, Blackadore Caye, and a special travel package donated by Prince Albert II of Monaco. DiCaprio, whose films include “Titanic” and “The Wolf of Wall Street,” started the environmental foundation in 1998 to help preserve the environment and habitats of wild animals. The money funds grants, public campaigns and media initiatives supported by the foundation. DiCaprio, 40, serves on the board of several environmental organizations. He said he hopes to work with governments to protect critically endangered species and “conserve the jungles, coral reefs, and forest they call home.” (ap)

Hulk Hogan sacked as taped racial slur surfaces

WASHINGTON - The American professional wrestling legend known as Hulk Hogan has been dumped by World Wrestling Entertainment, the association said Friday. News reports said this was because Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, uses a racial slur in a 2008 conversation that was taped and has just now come to light. “WWE terminated its contract with Terry Bollea (aka Hulk Hogan). WWE is committed to embracing and celebrating individuals from all backgrounds as demonstrated by the diversity of our employees,

performers and fans worldwide,” the association said. It did not give a reason for its break with Hogan. Hogan, who is 61 and known for his perpetual suntan and flamboyant bandana, is no longer viewable in the “Superstar” category on the WWE website’s video archive. He is also no longer listed as a judge on the WWE-released reality show “Tough Enough”, and WWE has stopped selling Hulk Hogan merchandise. US press reports say Hogan, in a sex tape made in 2008, part of

which has surfaced online, uses the “N-word” in a conversation about his daughter’s dating a black man. Hogan reacted Friday on Twitter, writing cryptically: “In the storm I release control, God and his Universe will sail me where he wants me to be, one love. HH” Later he apologized in comments to People magazine. “Eight years ago I used offensive language during a conversation. It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it,” Hogan said. (afp)

Cara Delevingne takes ‘joy ride’ from fashion to film

LOS ANGELES — Cara Delevingne wants you to know she didn’t strut directly from the fashion runway onto Hollywood movie sets. The British model wasn’t handpicked by studio executives for her lead role in “Paper Towns,” which opened this weekend. She won the part after an audition process that included 100 other actresses. “Cara killed it in the chemistry read. We all knew as soon as she walked in,” co-star Nat Wolff said in a recent interview. “I killed all the other actresses that went up for the role,” Delevingne joked, laughing alongside Wolff. The 22-year-old may no longer need to be quite so aggressive in Hollywood. She appears in four more films expected to be released this year, including “Pan.” She plays DC Comics villain-slashheroine Enchantress in the dark “Suicide Squad,” out next summer, then co-stars with Dane DeHaan in director Luc Besson’s big-budget sci-fi film “Valerian.” “The whole thing has been a joy ride. This is my dream so I’m kind of following it now,” she said. “I don’t feel like I’m stopping mod-

eling. It’s just definitely slowing down and so I’m just happy to be doing this.” In “Paper Towns,” adapted from John Green’s popular young adult novel, Delevingne plays the enigmatic Margo, who wrangles Wolff’s character into an all-night adventure, then disappears. “Cara understands better than anyone I’ve ever know what it’s like to be Margo, what it’s like to have people project images onto you and not really know you,” said Green, an executive producer on the film. “Margo is a character in the story who everybody’s paying attention to, but nobody’s ever listening to. And I think that’s probably something Cara can also relate to.” Indeed, Delevingne says that while the promotional grind of releasing a movie isn’t so different from modeling — plenty of posing for photographers — she’s intrigued by the media megaphone provided by movie stardom. “It’s a platform for me to be honest and to talk about issues and stuff that I think is important,” she said on the red carpet at a Los Angeles “Paper Towns” screening attended by modeling friends Kendall and Kylie Jenner. Building tourist accommodation, regent hints moratorium

MANGUPURA - As the destination of choice for many travellers, booth foreign and domestic, Badung has become the target of many investors. Between 2009-2014 a total of 61,206 rooms become available to tourists however none of these were in star hotels which remain at a total of 98 locations with 16,360 rooms. Non-star hotels o the other hand have more than triplesd in number going form 505 hotels with 11,463 rooms to a staggering 855 hotels with 34,815 rooms. Regent of Badung, A.A. Gde Agung, who is at the end of his term, has hinted at the imposition of a temporary moratorium on the construction of new accommodations. Such a move would seek to avoid Badung tourism form

slumping in the future and also to curve the amount of investments being made by people form outside of Bali. “There is no problem with imposing a moratorium, so long as a clear academic assessment is made before han,” revealed Gde Agung in a recent

meeting with representatives of the tourism sector. Agung also suggested that the next study that is made on this topic, take into account such things as the availability of water, electricity and road conditions. “If the development of tourist accommodation continues like this, deeper study is obviously required. Since a regional spatial plan (RTRW) and a detailed spatial plan (RDTR) are being drafted, let’s conduct a study,” he said. Agung hopes that over the next ten-years, the government will make studying on carrying capacity of Badung a priority. “Certainly the tourism sector has a huge role to play in terms of the economic

growth of Badung and Bali in general,” he said. He explained that during the ten year period that he has been in office, tourism contributed IDR 1.5 trillion to the Province of Bali and its six counties. In 2015 the government of Badung has already contributed IDR 300 billion to the provincial government. “I am sharing this information because I feel accountable to those running the tourism sector in Badung and would like acknowledge their willingness to cooperate in developing tourism in this county,” he said. Although tourism is clearly a huge generator of income for the economy of Badung, Agung stressed that a study about the carrying capacity of Badung must

be carried out so that tourism can be enjoyed in a sustainable manner. “Every time a permit is issued for the construction of a hotel development, I always think of the bigger picture and not just about trying to increase the regionally generated revenue, we must also consider the economic growth,” he said. According to Agung, a study on Badung capacity to carry tourism must be conducted so as to ensure future economic growth.
