The arrival of the U.S. President, Barack Obama, will certainly make dozens of flights at the Ngurah Rai Airport undergo an expected delay (ED) for approximately 45 minutes. Guests of this country will arrive via Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali, so it will cause a delay to the aircraft when the aircraft carrying the state guests and delegates arrives.
The Administrator of Ngurah Rai Airport, Yuli Sudoso, when contacted on Tuesday (Nov 15) said though it caused a delay there was no rescheduling of the aircraft that would depart or arrive at Ngurah Rai Airport. “It does not cause any rescheduling, or more precisely it’s an expected delay,” he said. He said such a delay would happen to commercial or chartered flights both of foreign and domestic flight.
Probably, the estimated flight delay would last for approximately 45 minutes to the arrival and departure flight. In accordance with the procedures of the arrival flight of the head of state, the flight activities would be stopped temporarily. “But, we will apply it flexibly, not totally be closed like when the president first came. Prior to the ASEAN SAI Summit opening, the head of state received a courtesy call by ASEAN Secretary General Surin Pitsuwan and Executive Director of the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) Hidetoshi Nishimura.
