Achyaruddin who lead the preparation for those two areas stated that he is quite certain that Mount Batur and Pacitan will become world geopark this year. If the ambition come true then both are could become new icons of Indonesian Tourism.

Many benefits will be gained by the country if both areas become goepark. According to him, the goepark in Indonesia will enter the Global Geopark Network or GGN so it will be promoted internationally and will attract special interest from tourists all over the world. The registration number given by UNESCO and the GGN certificate will make the goepark go international and besides attracting tourists, it will also attract investors to invest their money in Indonesia. “Another benefit is that,” Achyaruddin explained “Indonesia will renowned to be committed in sustainable tourism development which is the current world issue.” Prof. Ibrahim Komoo was visited Mount Batur in April 2010.
