LONDON - Actor Matt Damon returns as a troubled former CIA assasin in the latest edition of the hit “Bourne” movie series this month, reprising a role he says was physically tough to get ready for over a decade and a half since he first took it on.

“Jason Bourne” - the fifth installment of the franchise - hits movie theatres on July 27, starring Damon as a conflicted, restless hero who resurfaces at the Greek-Macedonian border a decade after going off the grid.

At the movie’s European premiere in London, Damon said it was a “lot of fun” to be back in Bourne’s shoes

as he returned to work with familiar faces. But physically - preparing for a movie that features intense fight scenes and a major car chase - was challenging, the actor said.

“It was hard to get ready for it, much harder than when I was 29 - I’m 45 now, so it’s whole different animal,” Damon, who sat out the fourth movie in the series, told Reuters on the red carpet. “But you know, that’s a good problem to have.”

Asked who would win a tussle between Bourne and another legendary cinematic spy, James Bond, Damon was non-committal. But he had little doubt about who he would back as the next actor to play the MI6 spy: British actor Idris Elba.

“I like Idris - yeah, I think he’s

brilliant,” said Damon. “I’ll watch him in anything and he makes everything he’s in better. He would make that franchise better.”

In the latest Bourne edition based on the novels by Robert Ludlum - co-star Julia Stiles returns as fellow operative “Nicky Parsons” while Alicia Vikander, a longtime “Bourne” fan herself, debuts as a prodigy hacker in the CIA director’s team.

“The Bourne franchise was one of my absolute favourites - I’m a big fan,” Vikander, dressed in a silver sequined dress, gushed on the red carpet. “It was a real pinch-me moment when I actally saw myself, saw the film for the first time a week ago and I was like ‘Oh my God, I actually got to be in one of them!’” (rtr)

At least 20 killed, dozens injured as trains collide in Italy

BARI - At least 20 people died and dozens were injured when two passenger trains collided head-on in southern Italy on Tuesday, a spokesman for the fire service said.

The crash happened on a single stretch of track in countryside between the towns of Corato and Andria. Both trains were made up of four carriages. An aerial image showed carriages smashed and crumpled by the force of the impact, with debris flung out amongst olive trees which flanked both sides of

the track.

“We are working with dozens of rescue teams to open up the carriages,” said Luca Cari, a fire service spokesman, adding they had saved a young boy from the wreckage.

“The rescue is complicated because this happened in the middle of the countryside,” he said.

There was no immediate reason given for the collision, which took place at around 11.30 am (0930 GMT) on a hot summer’s day in the region of Puglia.

“We won’t stop until we get a clear explanation over what happened,” Prime Minister Matteo Renzi told reporters, cutting short a visit to Milan in northern Italy to return to Rome.

four carriages left standing upright on the rails. A fifth carriage had jumped off the tracks, while the other three units appeared pulverised. “It looks like there has been a plane crash,” said the mayor of Corato, Massimo Mazzilli.

The stretch of track is operated by a regional rail company Ferrotramviaria. It was not clear how many people had been on the trains.

The last major rail disaster in Italy was in 2009 when a freight

The fact on the current difficult season for businesses is recognized by an economic analyst from the Udayana University, Prof. Ramantha. In his conversation with the International Bali Post, Monday (Jul. 11), this lecture at the Faculty of Economics, said that in the first and second quarter the government failed to realize the target of growth or realization of the growth was not achieved.

“This phenomenon has been seen in the first and second quarter of 2016. Realization is not in appropri-

ate with the predictions,” he said. He reminded that this condition should be immediately responded by local government to revise the target of economic growth.

“Bali has not yet responded to the data submitted by the Central Statistics Agency. The failure in realizing the economic growth forecast in the first and second quarter should be balanced with the target revision of economic growth,” explained Ramantha.

Bali designing the economic growth of 6.5 percent should respond to the signs of bad season with a more realistic approach. Nationally, the government has made corrections against the economic

growth target of 5.6 percent to 5.5 percent. So, there is a correction of 0.1 percent.

Prof. Ramantha had confidence if a surplus happens to the economic growth in the third and fourth quarter, the economic downturn occurred in the first six months will not be covered. Consumptive economic sector is expected to become the economic driving. He predicted it will not grow. It is indicated by the very weak consumer purchasing power.

And it is the maximum rate. It is indicated by the current purchasing power remaining sluggish and many businesspeople cannot pay the capital of their bank loan. “Many businesses are only

able to pay the interest of their loan,” he said.

If the assumption of growth reaches 6.5 percent, he is very confident that property sector will move. In fact, this time it does not happen. Moreover, there are indications if the property and retail sector are getting worse.

Hundreds of migrants arrive in Denpasar, municipal govt holds data collection

Denpasar - When entering the backflow of the Eid 1437 H, the government of Denpasar sets up a team consisting of various agencies. The team held data collection of migrants at Ubung terminal, Monday (Jul. 11). Examination on the completeness of population administration involved the elements of the Denpasar Population and Civil Registry Office, municipal police, police, district military command, transportation agency, North Denpasar subdistrict and Ubung village. This activity will be held for three days until Wednesday (Jul. 13).

The Head of the Denpasar Population and Civil Registry Office, Nyoman Gede Narendra, when met on the sidelines of the raid said that the activity can ensnared some migrants that did not equip themselves with identity

document and those bringing along no identity card of their origin.

“Our policing today held from 06:00 through 10:00 records 31 buses, 981 passengers, 353 residents carrying identity card of

outside Bali, one resident bringing no identity and two other residents bringing expired identity card so that they are considered to have no identity,” said Narendra.

He further said that all the migrants having no identity card will be registered and followed up in accordance with regional bylaw.

This activity has no intention of discrimination and is purely a population registry for residents that are just going into the city of Denpasar to create an orderly population administration.

registered at Ubung terminal or Benoa harbor, the policing will be done at local village. “This migrant policing will not only be done during the Eid holiday, but also beyond the holiday as a regular agenda,” said Narendra.

Mayor of Denpasar, I.B. Rai Dharmawijaya Mantra, having the time to monitor the policing said the authorities of Denpasar are well prepared to anticipate migrants.

After carrying out the policing at Ubung terminal and Benoa harbor, he requested the entire villages to seriously create the orderly population administration. The owners of

residence, such as boarding houses or rented houses are requested to be more selective and ensure the tenants to have a complete identity.

“All of these measures are intended to anticipate the presence of unclear migrants that will eventually become a burden of the region, especially regarding safety, comfort as well as public order.

If there are any migrants without identity, they should be repatriated.

Apple’s Mac no longer bucking PC industry’s sales slide

SAN FRANCISCO — After defying industry trends in recent years, Apple is feeling the slowdown in global purchases of laptop and desktop computers.

Apple shipped 4 to 8 percent fewer Mac computers during the second quarter of 2016, compared with a year earlier, according to new estimates from two research firms —

even while some of its bigger rivals managed to find growth in the PC business.

Apple enjoyed steady increases in Mac sales for most of 2014 and

2015, while the rest of the PC market was in a slump. Although the leading PC-makers sell more units, Apple’s Macs tend to command both higher prices and consumer loyalty.

But Apple Inc. has been reporting a dip in Mac unit sales since the end of last year, and estimates released Monday suggest that trend is con-

tinuing. Analysts estimate Apple shipped 4.4 million to 4.6 million Macs in the quarter ending June 30.

PC sales overall have been declining for the last four years, as more consumers and businesses turn to smartphones and other gadgets.

Microsoft’s new Windows 10 software hasn’t given PC sales much of a boost. Analysts say that could change in coming months, as the end of a promotional offer means consumers will no longer be able to upgrade older Windows machines for free.

Some Apple fans say an update for the popular MacBook Pro laptop is overdue, while the Cupertino, California, company has been promoting its iPad Pro tablet, which works with a detachable keyboard.

Apple enjoyed eight consecutive quarters of year-on-year Mac sales increases before posting a 4 percent drop in units sold during the last three months of 2015. That was followed by a 12 percent drop in the first quarter of this year.

Macs are a small part of Apple’s overall business, however, since the company makes most of its money from iPhones. Apple will report second-quarter sales on July 26. (ap)

Japanese messaging app Line raises over $1.1 billion in IPO

NEW YORK — Japanese messaging app Line’s initial public offering has raised more than $1.1 billion despite a lukewarm IPO market.

Shares priced at 3,300 yen each, or $32.84 per U.S.-traded share, Monday, the top of the predicted range. That suggests strong demand. Renaissance Capital, an IPO research firm, says it’s the biggest U.S. IPO of the year.

The stock will begin trading on the New York Stock Exchange Thursday and on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Friday.

GIANYAR - Anticipation against rabies remains to become one of the priorities made by the government of Gianyar. Vaccination and elimination of rabies carrier animals are now being intensively conducted mainly in the areas outside the red zone of rabies.

Based on the data in the Gianyar Livestock, Fisheries and Maritime Agency, the mass rabies vaccination for the seventh phase of Gianyar as per July 8, 2016 has reached a total of 28,143 dogs, 984 cats and 29 monkeys.

The Head of the Gianyar Livestock, Fisheries and Maritime Agency, Ida Bagus Sudewa, said on Monday (Jul. 11) that anticipation against rabies is carried out gradually. The vaccination and elimination program is mainly targeted to reach 11 of the 64 villages in the red zone of rabies such as Bitera, Medahan, Keramas, Pejeng, Pejeng Kaler, Temesi, Tulikup, Petak Kaler, Taro, Bukian and Guwang. “Red zone gets first priority and this will continue,” he said.

He explained that target of the vaccination in Gianyar is based on the estimation in the integrated National Animal Health System (iSikhnas). It reaches 60,000 rabies carrier animals. In the meantime, the mass vaccination of the seventh phase could have vaccinated a total of 11,900 dogs at 27 villages that have not received the program until the end of this month.

Vaccine stock and related equipment are in sufficient quantity. Sudewa said that the number of vaccine stock reaches 40,000 dosages. In the meantime, the stock of syringe previously running out has been made procurement so that his agency currently is ready with 3,000 syringes and 5,000 replacement needles. ”Our stock of vaccinated-animal marking necklace has been in sufficient number. So, we do not need to buy anymore. These necklaces are the assistance of the FAO,” he added.

Further, he said, until now a total of 22 positive cases of rabies in rabies carrier animal in Gianyar. Surely the row of cases may not increase and should be anticipated as early as possible. There must be synergy or joint effort by all components so that Bali and Gianyar in particular can be free from rabies.

AMLAPURA - Residents in some areas of Datah village, Karangasem, are threatened by water crisis. It happens because the water of public well at Kalangsari and Juwuk hamlet increasingly dries up. In the meantime, the reservoirs at Kedampal experience damages to their valve and leak.

It is known from the monitoring made to the village located on the eastern slopes of Mount Agung until Sunday (Jul. 10).

A grandmother taking water from the well at Juwuk hamlet, Ni Nyoman Tampuagan, said that the well water has continued to shrink.

A few weeks ago, the well even almost dried up. As a result, residents could not get water. Tampuagan admitted not to know why the water of the well continues to shrink and even had time to dry.

According to her, all this time nearly for 60 years the well has never dried up. She still remembers that few months after Mount Agung erupted in 1963 the well at local hamlet had dried up. Since people did not have clean water, while the village, including Karangasem, experienced a famine at that time, a shaman from Linggasana then invoked the deities abiding on Mount Agung to grace a well filled with water.

It was true that a few days later a spring came out at the bottom of the well in a large discharge. “At that time, I was adult enough, and the spring in the well exuded in

huge discharge. Thus, it was also drained to the moor nearby,” said Tampuagan.

She admitted not to know whether there was any mistake that people taking water may say rudely. It is said that water of the public well belonging to patirtaan or sacred bathing place of senior deity of Mount Agung also shrinks lately.

Moreover, a young man named Ketut Juniana from Bekul area, Datah village, found taking water and washing at the public well of Kalangsari hamlet said the springs in the well of Kalangsari are very small. Residents have difficulty to get water, and admitted to just get a bucket of dirty water.

Various allegations are at issue in the community associated with the drought or shrinkage of the spring in both wells. Allegedly there is an ethical mistake that people may say rudely when fetching water, while another allegation tells if the deity is not delighted if the well at the patirtaan is sucked with pumps and drained to a number of places.

A resident of Bidong, the area adjacent to the well, once dreamed if all

the siphoning pipes in the well are removed, the springs will enlarge back. Some other people suspected if the decrease of springs in the well on the eastern slopes of the highest mountain in Bali happens due to a short and low rainfall in recent years.

In the meantime, the valve of the Datah I reservoir denoting a mega project with the budget of IDR 4.6 billion in 2008 at Kedampal is damaged. As a result, it cannot be turned to open the water tap, so that the water in the reservoir cannot be drained. The residents in need of water must take it by bucket.

Then, the Datah II reservoir made with the budget of IDR 9 billion in 2014 experiences leakage of valve, so that the water of reservoir on the eastern slopes of Mount Agung dries up.

On this issue, a legislator of the Karangasem House of Representatives, I Gede Dana, asked the government to pay attention to the residents or group of people assigned to manage the reservoirs.

According to him, he has received the aspirations of Datah residents so that the management and pipeline of the reservoir can be carried out properly. It is meant to make the reservoir project effective, and local residents can take advantage of the water. (013)

SINGARAJA - Turtle egg collection on Penimbangan Beach, Baktiseraga village, Buleleng, is increasingly prevalent lately. As evidence, irresponsible individuals can dig up to three nests in one day and the eggs are taken away.

The collection of the eggs belonging to the protected marine animal is known by fishermen.

Local fishermen failed to catch the perpetrators because they managed to escape.

The fishermen coalesced into the Sari Segara group urged police and the officials of local village to increase their surveillance.

Five days after its release, the game now is on more Android phones than dating app Tinder, and its rate of daily active users was neck and neck with social network Twitter, according to analytics firm SimilarWeb. Highlighting a dark side to its popularity, the game was used by four teens in Missouri to lure nearly a dozen victims into armed robberies, police and media reports said.

Police warned players to be vigilant when using smartphones and other mobile devices to search for characters in the game.

“When you’re involved in a game and not paying attention to what’s going on around you, your situational awareness can go down,” Greensboro, North Carolina police officer Ben Wingfield told local television.

Developed by Pokemon Company International, Niantic Inc and Nintendo Co Ltd, the game uses the GPS mapping and camera systems on players’ devices.

Hong Kong’s Tiananmen museum closes over legal woes

HONG KONG - China’s only museum commemorating the 1989 crackdown on protesters in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square is to close temporarily after a long-running legal battle with the management and owners of the building it is housed in.

The museum opened in April 2014. Unlike in mainland China where the 1989 crackdown on student-led protests remains taboo, the museum and an annual candlelight vigil attended by tens of thousands every year - is legal in Hong Kong.

The June 4 museum is run by a group called the Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements in China. Soon after it opened, owners of the building it is housed in brought a lawsuit against the alliance saying the museum violated the deed and occupation permit, an entertainment ordinance and fire safety codes.

CARACAS — The people waiting for hours in front of the drugstore were dazed with heat and boredom when the gunmen arrived. The robbers demanded a cellphone from a 25-year-old in black shorts.

Instead of handing it over, Junior Perez took off toward the entrance to the pharmacy.

Eight shots rang out, and he fell face down.

The dozens of shoppers in line were unmoved. They held their places as the gunmen went through Perez’s pockets. They watched as thick ribbons of blood ran from the young man’s head into the grooves of the tiled walkway. And when their turns came, each bought the two tubes of rationed toothpaste they were allowed.

“These days, you have to put the line above everything,” said pharmacist Haide Mendoza, who was there that morning. “You make sure you get what you need, and you don’t feel sorry for anyone.”

As Venezuela’s lines have grown longer and more dangerous, they have become not only the stage for everyday life, but a backdrop to death. More than two dozen people have been killed in line in the past 12 months, including a 4-year-old girl caught in gang crossfire. An 80-year-old woman was crushed to death when an orderly line of shoppers suddenly turned into a mob of looters — an increasingly common occurrence as Venezuela runs out of just about everything.

The extent of the country’s economic collapse can be measured in the length of the lines snaking through every neighborhood. The average Venezuelan shopper spends 35 hours waiting to buy food each month. That’s three times more than in 2014, according to the polling firm Datanalisis.

“As the economy breaks down, life is telescoping to be just lines,” said Datanalisis president Luis Vicente Leon. “You have masses of people in the streets competing for scarce goods. You’re inevitably going to get conflict, fights, tricks, you name it.”

The supply chain broke down — first slowly, then all at once, as a steep drop in the price of oil left no money to pay for even some of the most basic necessities. Shortages now top voters’ lists of concerns, surpassing even safety. That’s stunning in a country with one of the world’s highest homicide rates.

Desperation fuels the violence.

Medical student Maria Sanchez looked as timid and absent as anyone else in a Caracas line for flour, but when a woman tried to cut in front of her and her mother, she threw the first punches. She didn’t let up until the would-be intruder limped away. Sanchez passed the rest of the wait with her lips pressed together, her mother quietly weeping.

“You have to go out with your batteries fully charged or people take advantage,” Sanchez said.

“Need has an ugly dog’s face.” The need is everywhere.

On Wednesdays, residents of one of Caracas’ wealthiest neighborhoods line up with empty fivegallon jugs, hoping to catch a truck that comes through weekly with potable water. Poorer people wait at the foot of the green mountain that towers over the city, competing to siphon water from its springs.

On Fridays, bank lines grow long because ATM limits capped at $8 daily have not kept up with the world’s highest inflation, and the machines are not restocked on Saturdays or Sundays. Venezuelans now mostly avoid using cash, and even sidewalk orange juice peddlers have acquired credit card machines.

On Mondays and Tuesdays, the lines outside immigration offices spill down the street as if people suddenly decided over the weekend that they could not handle one more week standing around while life passes them by.

Each night, men push brokendown gas guzzlers along a river to line up at a warehouse that sells car batteries, but always runs out of

stock by mid-morning.

All Venezuelans, including children, are assigned two shopping days a week based on their state ID number. They line up before supermarkets open, guided by rumors and where they’ve had luck in the past. Some use fake IDs to score extra shopping days. Pregnant women and the elderly get their own priority lines, and everyone is limited to two units of whatever is on offer.

The longest lines are for what is in the shortest supply: food.

Nine out of 10 people say they can’t buy enough to eat, according to a study by Simon Bolivar University. Prices have been driven impossibly high by scarcity, hoarding and black market resellers.

Venezuelans line up again and again for subsidized goods, not always knowing what they’ll get when they finally reach the front.

When supply trucks arrive, workers throw open the doors, game-show style, to reveal whether shoppers will be taking home precious pantry staples, or a booby prize like dog food.

Sometimes the disappointment is too much to bear. Hundreds of people stormed a market in Caracas last month after the food truck they spent hours waiting for was diverted. “We’re starving,” they cried as shopkeepers lowered metal gates over their doors and windows.

Queues thousands of people long are targets for muggers, who will sometimes work their way down person by person. Soldiers armed with tear gas and assault rifles often stand guard over supermarkets and supply trucks to maintain order.

But the National Guard has killed three people and arrested hundreds this summer while trying to control nationwide food riots.

A few blocks away from where Perez died in the toothpaste line, shoppers waiting to buy groceries watched a mob set fire to an accused thief. After the man was taken away in an ambulance, some of his assailants got in line to do their shopping.

Although the threat of violence hovers in the air, the line also is a place of ordinary and sometimes extraordinary life. (ap)

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Defense Ministry has confirmed that Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines will hold a trilateral meeting to discuss security cooperation in their maritime border areas.

The meeting would be held in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday, Secretary General of the Defense Ministry Vice Admiral Widodo confirmed here, Tuesday. The meeting will be held to discuss at length a plan to hold trilateral coordinated patrolling activities involving the three countries.

The agreement on conducting joint patrolling formulated during the meeting will be signed by the three defense ministers.

Earlier, Indonesian Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu had affirmed that the three countries should conduct a military exercise prior to carrying out trilateral joint patrols in their maritime borders.

Ryacudu also stated that negotiation was the priority option to

secure the release of the hostages, while the use of military should be exercised as the last option. “A military operation is the last option as it will surely result in the loss of lives. We want to avoid casualties,” he emphasized.

Since March this year, Indonesia has faced five hostage incidents mostly in the waters of southern Philippines, with the two earlier crises ending peacefully as 14 Indonesians were released safely.

Ten Indonesian boat crew members were released on May 1 after being held hostage by the Abu Sayyaf group since March 26, 2016, while the four others held captive since April 15, 2016, were set free by the same group on May 11.

members of Tugboat Charles 001 and Barge Robby 152 were abducted in two incidents, with the first occurring on June 20, 2016, at 11:30 a.m. local time and another at 12:45 p.m. local time in the Sulu Sea while on their way back from the Philippines after delivering coal cargo.

The latest hostage-taking incident occurred on July 9, aboard a Malaysian-flagged trawler LLD113/5/F in the Felda Sahabat waters, Tungku, Lahad Datu, Sabah State, Malaysia.

When the incident happened, the vessel had aboard four Indonesian crew members and three Filipinos of the Bajau Palauh tribe.

Of the vessels seven crew members, three, all Indonesians, were kidnapped, while four others were released.

The Indonesian citizens abducted by the Philippine separatists are 34-year-old Lorence Koten, 42-year-old Teodorus Kopong, and 40-year-old Emanuel.(ant)

JAKARTA - Any effort taken to secure the release of Indonesian citizens held hostage in Malaysia and the Philippines will have associated risks, according to Vice President Jusuf Kalla.

Therefore, the Indonesian government hopes that the families of the victims and the people will lay their trust on it to liberate the hostages.

“Every action will have risks. If efforts are made through negotiations, they would have risks where the hostage takers would repeat their actions. If negotiations are not used, it could have risks in the form of loss of lives. Hence, which options are going to be taken? The people should know these things. There is no step that is free of risk,” the vice president noted on Tuesday.

Kalla explained that the Indonesian government and the company, which owns the fishing vessel, had, so far, adopted a tolerant approach to secure the release of its citizens in the hostage-taking incident, which had occurred successively in the waters of the Philippines and Malaysia this year. However, the Indonesian government had adopted a persuasive approach merely for the safety of the hostages, who are believed to be abducted by the Abu Sayyaf extremist group.

The persuasive approach, among others, involves communicating with the relevant parties in different ways.

“It turned out that tolerance will lead to another kidnapping incident in future. However, I want to stress here that every action taken will have associated risks,” the vice president explained.

Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno L.P. Marsudi has reiterated that the Indonesian government will not support any ransom-paying policy, although it would give priority to the safety of the hostages.

The hostage-taking occurred on July 9 at 11:30 p.m. local time, aboard a Malaysian-flagged trawler LLD113/5/F in the Felda Sahabat waters, Tungku, Lahad Datu, Sabah State, Malaysia. Of the vessels seven crew members, three, all Indonesians, were kidnapped, while four others were released.

The vessels owner reported the incident to the Lahad Datu Police on July 10. According to information, they were ambushed by five armed men aboard a speed boat, the minister noted. The three hostages were reportedly taken to Tawi-tawi, South Philippines.

day (July 5), one day before the Muslims Eid Holiday, and was made using a rice cooker as the outer case. It was categorized as a low explosive device.

The bomber was believed to be linked to the Bekasi terrorist network.

“The anti-terror squad, Densus 88, of the National Police has been track-

ing this terrorist network,” Kirono informed. Nur Rohman was one of most wanted men affiliated to Bekasi.

Police had arrested seven suspects but Rohman had managed to flee.

Britain’s May wins PM race after pro-Brexit rival quits

LONDON - Interior minister Theresa May will become Britain’s prime minister on Wednesday, with the task of steering its withdrawal from the European Union, after rival Andrea Leadsom abruptly terminated her disastrous leadership campaign.

May, 59, will succeed David Cameron, who announced he was stepping down after Britons unexpectedly voted last month to quit the EU. Britain’s planned withdrawal has weakened the 28-nation bloc, created huge uncertainty over trade and investment, and shaken financial markets.

May and Leadsom had been due to contest a ballot of grassroots Conservative party members, with the result to be declared by Sept. 9.

But Leadsom unexpectedly quit on Monday after a campaign dogged by ill-judged comments about her rival’s lack of children and questions about whether she had exaggerated her CV. “I am honoured and humbled to

have been chosen by the Conservative Party to become its leader,” said May, who favoured remaining in the EU but has made clear there is no going back on the result of the June 23 referendum.

“Brexit means Brexit, and we’re going to make a success of it.”

Earlier, Cameron told reporters in front of his 10 Downing Street residence that he expected to chair his last cabinet meeting on Tuesday and take questions in parliament on Wednesday before tendering his resignation to Queen Elizabeth.

“It is increasingly challenging when people have AR-15s (a type of rifle) slung over, and shootings occur in a crowd. And they begin running, and we don’t know if they are a shooter or not,” Brown said. “We don’t know who the ‘good guy’ versus who the ‘bad guy’ is, if everybody starts shooting.”

Seeing multiple people carrying rifles led police initially to believe they were under attack by multiple shooters.

Brown did not explicitly call for gun control laws, but said: “I was asked, well, what’s your opinion about guns? Well, ask the policymakers to do something and I’ll give you an opinion.”

“Do your job. We’re doing ours. We’re putting our lives on the line. Other aspects of government need to step up and help us,” he said. (rtr)

The local committee’s privately funded budget is what is used to operate the Games; it is not public money which is used for infrastructure or venues.

Any shortfall in the committee’s finances, which pay for the production of the spectacle and competition of the Games, could negatively impact the experience of both fans and athletes, take away from the luster Brazil hopes to project to a global audience and further weigh on strained public finances.

The deficit, challenging organizers 25 days before the games begin, represents about 6 percent of the local committee’s budget and just over 1 percent of the total projected cost of 40 billion reais to host the Olympics.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to discuss the matter publicly, said the committee could not fill the gap in its 7.5 billion real budget despite making as many cuts as possible.

But a top Rio city official told Reuters that organizers were still working to cut costs to avoid a committee deficit.

According to the contract, any deficit after the Games must be filled by the city, state and federal governments, which are already severely strained amid Brazil’s worst recession since the 1930s.

Phil Wilkinson, a spokesman for the local committee, declined to comment on any deficit. “We’re on course to deliver a balanced budget for the Games,” he said.

The source said the big drivers of the deficit are rent for the Olympic Village, where thousands of athletes will stay. The rent was expected to be paid mostly by the federal government, with the local committee only paying 10 percent of the cost - or about 40 million reais.

But that agreement was made with suspended President Dilma Rousseff, the source said. Amid her impeachment and the installment of an interim government, the money has not yet materialized.

Another big blow was smaller-than-expected sponsorship funding by Brazil’s state-run oil company Petrobras, whose fortunes soured amid low oil prices and a corruption scandal. (rtr)

PENNSYLVANIA - A jockstrap worn by boxer Joe Frazier when he defeated Muhammad Ali for the combined heavyweight title hit the auction block on Monday, along with the gloves Ali wore in that 1971 bout dubbed the “Fight of the Century.”

The jockstrap - expected to sell for $10,000 - already met its minimum bid of $5,000 bid by mid-morning, said Ken Goldin, owner of Goldin Auctions of Runnemede, New Jersey.

No bids had yet been received for the gloves, which are expected to sell for more than $1 million, Goldin said.

The auction concludes with live bidding on Aug. 4.

“People used to make jokes about auctioning off jockstraps as an example of something outrageous,” Goldin told Reuters.

“Here we got one consigned for sale.”

The memorabilia went on sale just over a month after Ali’s death at an Arizona hospital at age 74.

Frazier died in 2011.

Both fighters were undefeated when they met up in the match on March 8, 1971, at Madison Square Garden in New York. Frazier defeated Ali in a unanimous, 15round decision.

After the fight, Frazier gave the jockstrap to cornerman David Wolf, according to Goldin. Wolf, who was in the Frazier corner for all three of his fights with Ali, later became a manager for Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini and other boxers.

The jockstrap was found in Wolf’s apartment in New York after his death in 2009.

Minimum bids were set at $5,000 for the jockstrap and $250,000 for the gloves.

“Similar (Ali) gloves have sold in the millions,” Goldin said.

Thousands of fans greeted Euro 2016 champions Portugal as they landed in Lisbon on Monday, chanting the name of goal hero Eder, whose extra-time screamer sealed the 1-0 victory over France.

After travelling in a plane named after the late striker Eusebio, coach Fernando Santos and captain Cristiano Ronaldo were greeted by rapturous applause from the 5,000-strong crowd as they lifted the country’s first major trophy aloft.

They were due to meet President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who

said he would honour them with an award for distinguished acts of public service.

“I have to praise everyone. I will commemorate them with the Order of Merit of Commanders that is a decree that has never been given to the national team,” he told broadcaster RTP. The team were then expected

to parade the trophy in the streets of Lisbon before addressing delirious supporters at the fanzone in the capital after the country erupted into noisy jubilation late on Sunday.

Former Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, who lost to Greece in the 2004 final hosted by Portugal, showered praise on the players.

“Portugal had deserved this European champion title since 2004.

Last night, Portugal was able to get back the title that we lost in 2004,” he told Sport TV. (rtr)

Payet, who joined West Ham from Marseille in June last year, scored 12 goals in all competitions in his debut season in England and was instrumental in helping France reach the European Championship final, scoring three times.

His performances for club and country have prompted speculation about a possible move to Chelsea, Manchester City or Paris St Ger-

main, but Gold said West Ham would be reluctant sellers even if someone matched the huge fee.

“We wouldn’t even listen to any offer under 50 million pounds and even then we need to keep our best players so we just don’t welcome any offers at all for Dimitri,” Gold told the BBC. “He’s instrumental, he’s important to us, the team is built round him and he’s not for sale. MUNICH — Carlo Ancelotti says he will follow Pep Guardiola’s process and path at Bayern Munich, and seek a little more success.

Ancelotti was presented as the new coach by Bayern on Monday, promising more of the same from the German champion, while also trying to tamp high expectations in the Champions League.

His predecessor Guardiola led Bayern to three Bundesliga titles in his three seasons. But after taking over the Champions League titleholder, he could lead Bayern only as far as the semifinals in that championship in all three seasons, and decided not to extend his contract.

Ancelotti will be expected to earn that trophy in his three seasons, having won the Champions League twice with AC Milan and once with Real Madrid, but he declined to promise it. Bayern has five titles.

“My friend Guardiola did a great job here, and I am not here to make a revolution,” Ancelotti said. “I will try to follow his line and play good, attacking football. “We are going to try to be strong in all competitions and to win them all. But I’m not a magician, and Bayern is not the only club seeking the Champions League title.”

Ancelotti told Bild newspaper that Guardiola left him a “good luck” message written in Italian on

the wall of his office.

Ancelotti and club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said there were no plans for any immediate major new signings, but did not rule them out. “We have a really good squad, and we are not talking about new players, but the market is open until the end of August,” Ancelotti said.

Rummenigge added, “We are not planning with new players, but we are not shutting the door either.”

Bayern already has signed central defender Mats Hummels from Borussia Dortmund and teenager Renato Sanches from Benfica. There has been speculation in German media that forward Mario Goetze and defender Medhi Benatia might leave the club but neither Ancelotti nor Rummenigge would confirm it.

PENNSYLVANIA - A jockstrap worn by boxer Joe Frazier when he defeated Muhammad Ali for the combined heavyweight title hit the auction block on Monday, along with the gloves Ali wore in that 1971 bout dubbed the “Fight of the Century.”

The jockstrap - expected to sell for $10,000 - already met its minimum bid of $5,000 bid by mid-morning, said Ken Goldin, owner of Goldin Auctions of Runnemede, New Jersey.

No bids had yet been received for the gloves, which are expected to sell for more than $1 million, Goldin said.

The auction concludes with live bidding on Aug. 4.

“People used to make jokes about auctioning off jockstraps as an example of something outrageous,” Goldin told Reuters.

“Here we got one consigned for sale.”

The memorabilia went on sale just over a month after Ali’s death at an Arizona hospital at age 74.

Frazier died in 2011.

Both fighters were undefeated when they met up in the match on March 8, 1971, at Madison Square Garden in New York. Frazier defeated Ali in a unanimous, 15round decision.

After the fight, Frazier gave the jockstrap to cornerman David Wolf, according to Goldin. Wolf, who was in the Frazier corner for all three of his fights with Ali, later became a manager for Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini and other boxers.

The jockstrap was found in Wolf’s apartment in New York after his death in 2009.

Minimum bids were set at $5,000 for the jockstrap and $250,000 for the gloves.

“Similar (Ali) gloves have sold in the millions,” Goldin said.

Britain’s May wins PM race after pro-Brexit rival quits

LONDON - Interior minister Theresa May will become Britain’s prime minister on Wednesday, with the task of steering its withdrawal from the European Union, after rival Andrea Leadsom abruptly terminated her disastrous leadership campaign.

May, 59, will succeed David Cameron, who announced he was stepping down after Britons unexpectedly voted last month to quit the EU. Britain’s planned withdrawal has weakened the 28-nation bloc, created huge uncertainty over trade and investment, and shaken financial markets.

May and Leadsom had been due to contest a ballot of grassroots Conservative party members, with the result to be declared by Sept. 9.

But Leadsom unexpectedly quit on Monday after a campaign dogged by ill-judged comments about her rival’s lack of children and questions about whether she had exaggerated her CV. “I am honoured and humbled to

have been chosen by the Conservative Party to become its leader,” said May, who favoured remaining in the EU but has made clear there is no going back on the result of the June 23 referendum.

“Brexit means Brexit, and we’re going to make a success of it.”

Earlier, Cameron told reporters in front of his 10 Downing Street residence that he expected to chair his last cabinet meeting on Tuesday and take questions in parliament on Wednesday before tendering his resignation to Queen Elizabeth.

“So we will have a new prime minister in that building behind me

by Wednesday evening,” he said.

May will become Britain’s second female prime minister, after

Margaret Thatcher.

Her victory means that the complex process of extricating Britain from the EU will be led by someone from the losing side of the acrimonious referendum campaign.

She has said Britain needs time to work out its negotiating strategy and should not initiate formal divorce proceedings before the end of the year.

In a speech earlier on Monday in the city of Birmingham, May said there could be no second referendum and no attempt to rejoin the EU by the back door.

“As prime minister, I will make sure that we leave the European Union,” she said.

DALLAS - The Dallas police chief stepped into America’s fierce gun rights debate on Monday when he said Texas state laws allowing civilians to carry firearms openly, as some did during a protest where five officers were killed, presented a growing law enforcement challenge.

Dallas Police Chief David Brown also gave new details about his department’s use of a bombcarrying robot to kill Micah Johnson, the 25-year-old former U.S. Army reservist who carried out last Thursday’s sniper attack that also wounded nine officers.

A shooting in Michigan on Monday underscored the prevalence of gun violence in America and the danger faced by law enforcement, even as activists protest against the fatal police shootings of two black men last week in Louisiana and Minnesota.

Two sheriff’s bailiffs were shot to death at a courthouse in St. Joseph in southwestern Michigan, and the shooter was also killed, Berrien County Sheriff Paul Bailey told reporters.

By Monday evening, protesters were marching again in several large American cities, including Chicago, Sacramento, and Atlanta, where news footage showed a number of protesters being arrested after street demonstrations north of downtown.

President Barack Obama and

others reiterated their calls for stricter guns laws after last month’s massacre at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, but many conservatives responded that such measures could infringe on the U.S. Constitution’s protection of the right to bear arms.

Texas is known for its gun culture and state laws allow gun owners to carry their weapons in public. Some gun rights activists bring firearms to rallies as a political statement, as some did at Thursday’s march in Dallas.

“It is increasingly challenging when people have AR-15s (a type of rifle) slung over, and shootings occur in a crowd. And they begin running, and we don’t know if they are a shooter or not,” Brown said. “We don’t know who the ‘good guy’ versus who the ‘bad guy’ is, if everybody starts shooting.”

Seeing multiple people carrying rifles led police initially to believe they were under attack by multiple shooters.

Brown did not explicitly call for gun control laws, but said: “I was asked, well, what’s your opinion about guns? Well, ask the policymakers to do something and I’ll give you an opinion.”

CARACAS — The people waiting for hours in front of the drugstore were dazed with heat and boredom when the gunmen arrived. The robbers demanded a cellphone from a 25-year-old in black shorts.

Instead of handing it over, Junior Perez took off toward the entrance to the pharmacy.

Eight shots rang out, and he fell face down.

The dozens of shoppers in line were unmoved. They held their places as the gunmen went through Perez’s pockets. They watched as thick ribbons of blood ran from the young man’s head into the grooves of the tiled walkway. And when their turns came, each bought the two tubes of rationed toothpaste they were allowed.

“These days, you have to put the line above everything,” said pharmacist Haide Mendoza, who was there that morning. “You make sure you get what you need, and you don’t feel sorry for anyone.”

As Venezuela’s lines have grown longer and more dangerous, they have become not only the stage for everyday life, but a backdrop to death. More than two dozen people have been killed in line in the past 12 months, including a 4-year-old girl caught in gang crossfire. An 80-year-old woman was crushed to death when an orderly line of shoppers suddenly turned into a mob of looters — an increasingly common occurrence as Venezuela runs out of just about everything.

The extent of the country’s economic collapse can be measured in the length of the lines snaking through every neighborhood. The average Venezuelan shopper spends 35 hours waiting to buy food each month. That’s three times more than in 2014, according to the polling firm Datanalisis.

“As the economy breaks down, life is telescoping to be just lines,” said Datanalisis president Luis Vicente Leon. “You have masses of people in the streets competing for scarce goods. You’re inevitably going to get conflict, fights, tricks, you name it.”

socialist government ground much of the nation’s production to a halt, and the country grew ever more dependent on imports.

The supply chain broke down — first slowly, then all at once, as a steep drop in the price of oil left no money to pay for even some of the most basic necessities. Shortages now top voters’ lists of concerns, surpassing even safety. That’s stunning in a country with one of the world’s highest homicide rates.

Desperation fuels the violence.

Medical student Maria Sanchez looked as timid and absent as anyone else in a Caracas line for flour, but when a woman tried to cut in front of her and her mother, she threw the first punches. She didn’t let up until the would-be intruder limped away. Sanchez passed the rest of the wait with her lips pressed together, her mother quietly weeping.

“You have to go out with your batteries fully charged or people take advantage,” Sanchez said.

“Need has an ugly dog’s face.” The need is everywhere.

On Wednesdays, residents of one of Caracas’ wealthiest neighborhoods line up with empty fivegallon jugs, hoping to catch a truck that comes through weekly with potable water. Poorer people wait at the foot of the green mountain that towers over the city, competing to siphon water from its springs.

On Fridays, bank lines grow long because ATM limits capped at $8 daily have not kept up with the world’s highest inflation, and the machines are not restocked on Saturdays or Sundays. Venezuelans now mostly avoid using cash, and even sidewalk orange juice peddlers have acquired credit card machines.

On Mondays and Tuesdays, the lines outside immigration offices spill down the street as if people suddenly decided over the weekend that they could not handle one more week standing around while life passes them by.

Each night, men push brokendown gas guzzlers along a river to line up at a warehouse that sells car batteries, but always runs out of

stock by mid-morning.

All Venezuelans, including children, are assigned two shopping days a week based on their state ID number. They line up before supermarkets open, guided by rumors and where they’ve had luck in the past. Some use fake IDs to score extra shopping days. Pregnant women and the elderly get their own priority lines, and everyone is limited to two units of whatever is on offer.

The longest lines are for what is in the shortest supply: food.

Nine out of 10 people say they can’t buy enough to eat, according to a study by Simon Bolivar University. Prices have been driven impossibly high by scarcity, hoarding and black market resellers.

Venezuelans line up again and again for subsidized goods, not always knowing what they’ll get when they finally reach the front.

When supply trucks arrive, workers throw open the doors, game-show style, to reveal whether shoppers will be taking home precious pantry staples, or a booby prize like dog food.

Sometimes the disappointment is too much to bear. Hundreds of people stormed a market in Caracas last month after the food truck they spent hours waiting for was diverted. “We’re starving,” they cried as shopkeepers lowered metal gates over their doors and windows.

Queues thousands of people long are targets for muggers, who will sometimes work their way down person by person. Soldiers armed with tear gas and assault rifles often stand guard over supermarkets and supply trucks to maintain order.

But the National Guard has killed three people and arrested hundreds this summer while trying to control nationwide food riots.

A few blocks away from where Perez died in the toothpaste line, shoppers waiting to buy groceries watched a mob set fire to an accused thief. After the man was taken away in an ambulance, some of his assailants got in line to do their shopping.

Although the threat of violence hovers in the air, the line also is a place of ordinary and sometimes extraordinary life. (ap)

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Defense Ministry has confirmed that Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines will hold a trilateral meeting to discuss security cooperation in their maritime border areas.

The meeting would be held in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday, Secretary General of the Defense Ministry Vice Admiral Widodo confirmed here, Tuesday. The meeting will be held to discuss at length a plan to hold trilateral coordinated patrolling activities involving the three countries.

The agreement on conducting joint patrolling formulated during the meeting will be signed by the three defense ministers.

Earlier, Indonesian Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu had affirmed that the three countries should conduct a military exercise prior to carrying out trilateral joint patrols in their maritime borders.

Ryacudu also stated that negotiation was the priority option to

secure the release of the hostages, while the use of military should be exercised as the last option. “A military operation is the last option as it will surely result in the loss of lives. We want to avoid casualties,” he emphasized.

Since March this year, Indonesia has faced five hostage incidents mostly in the waters of southern Philippines, with the two earlier crises ending peacefully as 14 Indonesians were released safely.

Ten Indonesian boat crew members were released on May 1 after being held hostage by the Abu Sayyaf group since March 26, 2016, while the four others held captive since April 15, 2016, were set free by the same group on May 11.

members of Tugboat Charles 001 and Barge Robby 152 were abducted in two incidents, with the first occurring on June 20, 2016, at 11:30 a.m. local time and another at 12:45 p.m. local time in the Sulu Sea while on their way back from the Philippines after delivering coal cargo.

The latest hostage-taking incident occurred on July 9, aboard a Malaysian-flagged trawler LLD113/5/F in the Felda Sahabat waters, Tungku, Lahad Datu, Sabah State, Malaysia.

When the incident happened, the vessel had aboard four Indonesian crew members and three Filipinos of the Bajau Palauh tribe.

Of the vessels seven crew members, three, all Indonesians, were kidnapped, while four others were released.

The Indonesian citizens abducted by the Philippine separatists are 34-year-old Lorence Koten, 42-year-old Teodorus Kopong, and 40-year-old Emanuel.(ant)

JAKARTA - Any effort taken to secure the release of Indonesian citizens held hostage in Malaysia and the Philippines will have associated risks, according to Vice President Jusuf Kalla.

Therefore, the Indonesian government hopes that the families of the victims and the people will lay their trust on it to liberate the hostages.

“Every action will have risks. If efforts are made through negotiations, they would have risks where the hostage takers would repeat their actions. If negotiations are not used, it could have risks in the form of loss of lives. Hence, which options are going to be taken? The people should know these things. There is no step that is free of risk,” the vice president noted on Tuesday.

Kalla explained that the Indonesian government and the company, which owns the fishing vessel, had, so far, adopted a tolerant approach to secure the release of its citizens in the hostage-taking incident, which had occurred successively in the waters of the Philippines and Malaysia this year. However, the Indonesian government had adopted a persuasive approach merely for the safety of the hostages, who are believed to be abducted by the Abu Sayyaf extremist group.

The persuasive approach, among others, involves communicating with the relevant parties in different ways.

“It turned out that tolerance will lead to another kidnapping incident in future. However, I want to stress here that every action taken will have associated risks,” the vice president explained.

“President Joko Widodo has urged to prioritize the safety of the hostages, but the governments of Indonesia and the Philippines do not want to shell out any ransom payment,” Indonesian Defense Forces Commander General Gatot Nurmantyo remarked on Monday.

Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno L.P. Marsudi has reiterated that the Indonesian government will not support any ransom-paying policy, although it would give priority to the safety of the hostages.

The hostage-taking occurred on July 9 at 11:30 p.m. local time, aboard a Malaysian-flagged trawler LLD113/5/F in the Felda Sahabat waters, Tungku, Lahad Datu, Sabah State, Malaysia. Of the vessels seven crew members, three, all Indonesians, were kidnapped, while four others were released.

Identified as Nur Rohman, alias Wiknyo Wiyono, the suicide bomber was a resident of RT 01 RW 12, Sangkrah Village, Pasar Kliwon Subdistrict

of Solo or Surakarta.

“The fingerprints have also matched. His wife, Siti Aminah, had also confirmed that the suspect was her husband,” Kirono noted.

Police investigation and interviews of 26 witnesses revealed that the bomb was exploded by the suspect on Tues-

day (July 5), one day before the Muslims Eid Holiday, and was made using a rice cooker as the outer case. It was categorized as a low explosive device.

The bomber was believed to be linked to the Bekasi terrorist network.

“The anti-terror squad, Densus 88, of the National Police has been track-

ing this terrorist network,” Kirono informed. Nur Rohman was one of most wanted men affiliated to Bekasi.

Police had arrested seven suspects but Rohman had managed to flee.

Rohmans body will be handed over to the family for burial this Monday in Polokarto, Sukoharjo District.(ant)

Originally the perpetrators wanted to take the eggs in each nest. However, it was immediately known so that they just could dig two egg nests. In the meantime, another location of the egg nest has not been taken because it was promptly known by fishermen that would like to drag down their boat. When being approached, the perpetrators managed to escape to the east. Thus, two more egg nests can be saved. One of these egg nests contains hatched eggs. However, since it was disturbed by the predators the turtle hatchlings were found dead around the nest.

Highlighting a dark side to its popularity, the game was used by four teens in Missouri to lure nearly a dozen victims into armed robberies, police and media reports said.

Police warned players to be vigilant when using smartphones and other mobile devices to search for characters in the game.

“When you’re involved in a game and not paying attention to what’s going on around you, your situational awareness can go down,” Greensboro, North Carolina police officer Ben Wingfield told local television.

Developed by Pokemon Company International, Niantic Inc and Nintendo Co Ltd, the game uses the GPS mapping and camera systems on players’ devices.

“We encourage all people playing Pokemon Go to be aware of their surroundings and to play with friends when going to new or unfamiliar places,” Pokemon Company International and Niantic said in an emailed statement.

Police in O’Fallon, a suburb of St. Louis, said they arrested the four teens on Sunday after a robbery victim called police from a convenience store.

“Using the geolocation feature of the Pokemon Go app, the robbers were able to anticipate the location and level of seclusion of unwitting victims,” O’Fallon police Sergeant Bill Stringer said in a release.

Social media buzzed with reports of players who suffered minor injuries from tripping and falling while glued to their cell phones and minor incidents while driving and looking for Pokemon.

Hong Kong’s Tiananmen museum closes over legal woes

HONG KONG - China’s only museum commemorating the 1989 crackdown on protesters in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square is to close temporarily after a long-running legal battle with the management and owners of the building it is housed in.

The museum opened in April 2014. Unlike in mainland China where the 1989 crackdown on student-led protests remains taboo, the museum and an annual candlelight vigil attended by tens of thousands every year - is legal in Hong Kong.

The June 4 museum is run by a group called the Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements in China. Soon after it opened, owners of the building it is housed in brought a lawsuit against the alliance saying the museum violated the deed and occupation permit, an entertainment ordinance and fire safety codes.

Apple’s Mac no longer bucking PC industry’s sales slide

SAN FRANCISCO — After defying industry trends in recent years, Apple is feeling the slowdown in global purchases of laptop and desktop computers.

Apple shipped 4 to 8 percent fewer Mac computers during the second quarter of 2016, compared with a year earlier, according to new estimates from two research firms —

even while some of its bigger rivals managed to find growth in the PC business.

Apple enjoyed steady increases in Mac sales for most of 2014 and

2015, while the rest of the PC market was in a slump. Although the leading PC-makers sell more units, Apple’s Macs tend to command both higher prices and consumer loyalty.

But Apple Inc. has been reporting a dip in Mac unit sales since the end of last year, and estimates released Monday suggest that trend is con-

tinuing. Analysts estimate Apple shipped 4.4 million to 4.6 million Macs in the quarter ending June 30.

PC sales overall have been declining for the last four years, as more consumers and businesses turn to smartphones and other gadgets.

Some Apple fans say an update for the popular MacBook Pro laptop is overdue, while the Cupertino, California, company has been promoting its iPad Pro tablet, which works with a detachable keyboard.

Apple enjoyed eight consecutive quarters of year-on-year Mac sales increases before posting a 4 percent drop in units sold during the last three months of 2015. That was followed by a 12 percent drop in the first quarter of this year.

Macs are a small part of Apple’s overall business, however, since the company makes most of its money from iPhones. Apple will report second-quarter sales on July 26. (ap)

Japanese messaging app Line raises over $1.1 billion in IPO

NEW YORK — Japanese messaging app Line’s initial public offering has raised more than $1.1 billion despite a lukewarm IPO market.

Shares priced at 3,300 yen each, or $32.84 per U.S.-traded share, Monday, the top of the predicted range. That suggests strong demand. Renaissance Capital, an IPO research firm, says it’s the biggest U.S. IPO of the year.

The stock will begin trading on the New York Stock Exchange Thursday and on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Friday.

He explained that target of the vaccination in Gianyar is based on the estimation in the integrated National Animal Health System (iSikhnas). It reaches 60,000 rabies carrier animals. In the meantime, the mass vaccination of the seventh phase could have vaccinated a total of 11,900 dogs at 27 villages that have not received the program until the end of this month.

Vaccine stock and related equipment are in sufficient quantity. Sudewa said that the number of vaccine stock reaches 40,000 dosages. AMLAPURA - Residents in some areas of Datah village, Karangasem, are threatened by water crisis. It happens because the water of public well at Kalangsari and Juwuk hamlet increasingly dries up. In the meantime, the reservoirs at Kedampal experience damages to their valve and leak.

It is known from the monitoring made to the village located on the eastern slopes of Mount Agung until Sunday (Jul. 10).

A grandmother taking water from the well at Juwuk hamlet, Ni Nyoman Tampuagan, said that the well water has continued to shrink.

A few weeks ago, the well even almost dried up. As a result, residents could not get water. Tampuagan admitted not to know why the water of the well continues to shrink and even had time to dry.

According to her, all this time nearly for 60 years the well has never dried up. She still remembers that few months after Mount Agung erupted in 1963 the well at local hamlet had dried up. Since people did not have clean water, while the village, including Karangasem, experienced a famine at that time, a shaman from Linggasana then invoked the deities abiding on Mount Agung to grace a well filled with water.

It was true that a few days later a spring came out at the bottom of the well in a large discharge. “At that time, I was adult enough, and the spring in the well exuded in

huge discharge. Thus, it was also drained to the moor nearby,” said Tampuagan.

She admitted not to know whether there was any mistake that people taking water may say rudely. It is said that water of the public well belonging to patirtaan or sacred bathing place of senior deity of Mount Agung also shrinks lately.

Moreover, a young man named Ketut Juniana from Bekul area, Datah village, found taking water and washing at the public well of Kalangsari hamlet said the springs in the well of Kalangsari are very small. Residents have difficulty to get water, and admitted to just get a bucket of dirty water.

Various allegations are at issue in the community associated with the drought or shrinkage of the spring in both wells. Allegedly there is an ethical mistake that people may say rudely when fetching water, while another allegation tells if the deity is not delighted if the well at the patirtaan is sucked with pumps and drained to a number of places.

A resident of Bidong, the area adjacent to the well, once dreamed if all

the siphoning pipes in the well are removed, the springs will enlarge back. Some other people suspected if the decrease of springs in the well on the eastern slopes of the highest mountain in Bali happens due to a short and low rainfall in recent years.

In the meantime, the valve of the Datah I reservoir denoting a mega project with the budget of IDR 4.6 billion in 2008 at Kedampal is damaged. As a result, it cannot be turned to open the water tap, so that the water in the reservoir cannot be drained. The residents in need of water must take it by bucket.

Then, the Datah II reservoir made with the budget of IDR 9 billion in 2014 experiences leakage of valve, so that the water of reservoir on the eastern slopes of Mount Agung dries up.

On this issue, a legislator of the Karangasem House of Representatives, I Gede Dana, asked the government to pay attention to the residents or group of people assigned to manage the reservoirs.

According to him, he has received the aspirations of Datah residents so that the management and pipeline of the reservoir can be carried out properly. It is meant to make the reservoir project effective, and local residents can take advantage of the water. (013)

growth target of 5.6 percent to 5.5 percent. So, there is a correction of 0.1 percent.

Prof. Ramantha had confidence if a surplus happens to the economic growth in the third and fourth quarter, the economic downturn occurred in the first six months will not be covered. Consumptive economic sector is expected to become the economic driving. He predicted it will not grow. It is indicated by the very weak consumer purchasing power.

Hundreds of migrants arrive in Denpasar, municipal govt holds data collection

Denpasar - When entering the backflow of the Eid 1437 H, the government of Denpasar sets up a team consisting of various agencies. The team held data collection of migrants at Ubung terminal, Monday (Jul. 11). Examination on the completeness of population administration involved the elements of the Denpasar Population and Civil Registry Office, municipal police, police, district military command, transportation agency, North Denpasar subdistrict and Ubung village. This activity will be held for three days until Wednesday (Jul. 13).

Mayor of Denpasar, I.B. Rai Dharmawijaya Mantra, having the time to monitor the policing said the authorities of Denpasar are well prepared to anticipate migrants.

After carrying out the policing at Ubung terminal and Benoa harbor, he requested the entire villages to seriously create the orderly population administration. The owners of

residence, such as boarding houses or rented houses are requested to be more selective and ensure the tenants to have a complete identity.

LONDON - Actor Matt Damon returns as a troubled former CIA assasin in the latest edition of the hit “Bourne” movie series this month, reprising a role he says was physically tough to get ready for over a decade and a half since he first took it on.

“Jason Bourne” - the fifth installment of the franchise - hits movie theatres on July 27, starring Damon as a conflicted, restless hero who resurfaces at the Greek-Macedonian border a decade after going off the grid.

At the movie’s European premiere in London, Damon said it was a “lot of fun” to be back in Bourne’s shoes

as he returned to work with familiar faces. But physically - preparing for a movie that features intense fight scenes and a major car chase - was challenging, the actor said.

“It was hard to get ready for it, much harder than when I was 29 - I’m 45 now, so it’s whole different animal,” Damon, who sat out the fourth movie in the series, told Reuters on the red carpet. “But you know, that’s a good problem to have.”

Asked who would win a tussle between Bourne and another legendary cinematic spy, James Bond, Damon was non-committal. But he had little doubt about who he would back as the next actor to play the MI6 spy: British actor Idris Elba.

“I like Idris - yeah, I think he’s

brilliant,” said Damon. “I’ll watch him in anything and he makes everything he’s in better. He would make that franchise better.”

In the latest Bourne edition based on the novels by Robert Ludlum - co-star Julia Stiles returns as fellow operative “Nicky Parsons” while Alicia Vikander, a longtime “Bourne” fan herself, debuts as a prodigy hacker in the CIA director’s team.

At least 20 killed, dozens injured as trains collide in Italy

BARI - At least 20 people died and dozens were injured when two passenger trains collided head-on in southern Italy on Tuesday, a spokesman for the fire service said.

The crash happened on a single stretch of track in countryside between the towns of Corato and Andria. Both trains were made up of four carriages. An aerial image showed carriages smashed and crumpled by the force of the impact, with debris flung out amongst olive trees which flanked both sides of

the track.

“We are working with dozens of rescue teams to open up the carriages,” said Luca Cari, a fire service spokesman, adding they had saved a young boy from the wreckage.

“The rescue is complicated because this happened in the middle of the countryside,” he said.

There was no immediate reason given for the collision, which took place at around 11.30 am (0930 GMT) on a hot summer’s day in the region of Puglia.

“We won’t stop until we get a clear explanation over what happened,” Prime Minister Matteo Renzi told reporters, cutting short a visit to Milan in northern Italy to return to Rome.

A photograph handed to reporters by the fire brigade showed just

four carriages left standing upright on the rails. A fifth carriage had jumped off the tracks, while the other three units appeared pulverised. “It looks like there has been a plane crash,” said the mayor of Corato, Massimo Mazzilli.

The stretch of track is operated by a regional rail company Ferrotramviaria. It was not clear how many people had been on the trains.

The last major rail disaster in Italy was in 2009 when a freight
