LOS ANGELES - Pop singer Miley Cyrus is back in the buff, covered only in mud as she hugs a pig to support the charity she founded in a photo gracing Paper Magazine, as she reveals her romantic attraction to females.

Cyrus, who made waves in 2013 when she appeared nude atop a swinging ball in the music video for her hit song “Wrecking Ball,” appears on the cover of the pop culture magazine strategically hugging a pig to support the Happy Hippy Foundation, which she founded to help raise funds and awareness for homeless and LGBT youth.

The 22-year-old former Disney star also revealed that she has experienced same-sex attractions, saying she told her mother at age 14 that she felt romantic feelings toward females.

“I remember telling her I admire women in a different way. And she asked me what that meant. And I said, I love them. I love them like I love boys,” she told Paper.

Cyrus rose to fame as the lead of Disney Channel’s “Hannah Montana” show, but shed her child star persona for a more risque image in recent years.

The magazine shoot also featured photographs of Cyrus fully nude and wearing body paint.

Cyrus said that in building the foundation she was particularly moved by the December suicide of transgender teen Leelah Alcorn, who said she had been forced to undergo “conversion therapy” by her parents.

“We can’t keep noticing these kids too late,” Cyrus said.

Angelina found dead, buried with her doll Denpasar-

The joint team of the Bali Police, Denpasar Police and East Denpasar Police returned to Angelina’s house at 26 Jalan Sedap Malam, Denpasar on Wednesday (Jun. 10). The officers arrived at the house approximately 11:30 a.m. and Unit Chief of the Bali Police Crime and Violence, Pande Sugiarta, immediatelya instructed his men to look for a hoe, shovel and crowbar.

After digging in four locations, the body of 8 year old Angelina was finally found in a banana garden on a pile of rubbish.

When excavated, the body of the second grade of elementary school student was found wrapped in a cloth and tied with nylon rope. The police also found a Barbie doll buried with her.

The police went to the victim’s house while her foster mother Margaret was out shopping at a supermarket on Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai, Denpasar. Police used the op-

portunity to investigate the house and the chicken coop. “There was only a security guard there at the time”, said on of the Bali Police officers.

The officers revealed that around 11:30 a.m. the joint team arrived at the scene of the crime where they met security guard, Dewa Ketut Raka, and two boarders named Susiana and Rahmat. Behind the house, near some banana tress, the police

officers found a parcel wrapped in fabric a half meter lower than the ground. They opened the parcel only to find that it was in fact Angelina’s body. The Police also secured a shovel, hoe and a rope that was alleged to have been used to strangle the victim.

location in and around Angelina’s house that finally allowed the officers to find Angelina -already dead.

“We found her (AngelinaóEd) in the area behind the house near the chicken coop, rather close to some banana trees. An uneven ground surface appeared to have been covered with garbage, and raised out suspicions.

We eventually dug in that spot and found Angelina’s body” he said.

To ensure that this was in fact the body of deceased Angelina, the police chief ordered forensic experts from the forensic laboratory of Denpasar Branch and the INAFIS of Bali Police to come to the crime scene. “We believe that the body that was found was Angelina’s. However, we are still coordinating with the

Legal companion from the Center for Integrated Services of Women and Child Empowerment (P2TP2A) of Denpasar, Siti Sapurah, immediately hugged Amidah, Angelina’s biological mother upon arrival at the forensic department of Sanglah Hospital on Wednesday (Jun. 10).

Sapurah did her best to calm Amida down and console her as she cried incessantly.

Sapurah, familiarly addressed as Ipung firmly said that before being murdered, Angeline had repeatedly experienced sexual violence at the hands of Agustinus, Margaretha’s maid. “While being examined by the police, Agustinus who had been working for Margaretha for a week, admitted that he had committed sexual violence against Angelina almost everyday” revealed Siti Sapurah.

Every Temple and Shrine has a special date for it annual Ceremony, or “ Odalan “, every 210 days according to Balinese calendar, including the smaller ancestral shrine which each family possesses. Because of this practically every few days a ceremony of festival of some kind takes place in some Village in Bali. There are also times when the entire island celebrated the same Holiday, such as at Galungan, Kuningan, Nyepi day, Saraswati day, Tumpek Landep day, Pagerwesi day, Tumpek Wayang day etc.

The dedication or inauguration day of a Temple is considered its birth day and celebration always takes place on the same day if the wuku or 210 day calendar is used. When new moon is used then the celebration always happens on new moon or full moon. The day of course can differ the religious celebration of a temple lasts at least one full day with some temple celebrating for three days while the celebration of Besakih temple, the Mother Temple, is never less than 7 days and most of the time it lasts for 11 days, depending on the importance of the occasion.

The celebration is very colorful. The shrine are dressed with pieces of cloths and sometimes with brocade, sailings, decorations of carved wood and sometimes painted with gold and Chinese coins, very beautifully arranged, are hung in the four corners of the shrine. In front of shrine are placed red, white or black umbrellas depending which Gods are worshipped in the shrines.

In front of important shrine one sees, besides these umbrellas soars, tridents and other weapons, the “umbul-umbul”, long flags, all these are prerogatives or attributes of Holiness. In front of the Temple gate put up “Penjor”, long bamboo poles, decorated beautifully ornaments of young coconut leaves, rice and other products of the land. Most beautiful to see are the girls in their colorful attire, carrying offerings, arrangements of all kinds fruits and colored cakes, to the Temple. Every visitor admires the grace with which the carry their load on their heads.

Bali’s exports to Spain increased 38.93 percent

DENPASAR - The exports of unique Balinese crafts and antiques to Spain increased by 38.93 percent, from US$5.4 million recorded in January-April 2014 to US$7.4 million in the same period in 2015.

“Spain imports various woven products in the form of sandals, cloth bags, non-knitted items, confectionery, and furniture,” Balinese entrepreneur Made Parwata stated here on Thursday.

According to Parwata, Balis growth in foreign trade, particularly with Spain, seems positive, especially after the government increased the frequency of flights to European countries. He remarked that Spanish consumers are consistent in buying various Balinese art products.

Spanish importers always order items via email every month. In addition to Spain, the Netherlands, Greece, England, France, and the United States are the top ten buyers of Balinese handicrafts.

According to records provided by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Bali, Spain ranks seventh in the list of largest buyers of Balinese non-oil products in early 2015, after the United States, which is the biggest consumer, with exports amounting to US$38.8 million followed

by Japan at US$16.5 million, Singapore US$14 million, and Australia US$13.3 million.

The increasing number of foreign tourists travelling to Bali is expected to significantly affect foreign trading, especially the sale of souvenirs and agricultural products, including Balinese coffee. (ant)

Animal-kingdom adornments, splashes of disco lame, feminine sheers that exposed nipples and both warm and bold purples, yellows and pinks highlighted Michele’s 62 looks for men and woman. Ruffles trimmed ladylike suits and high heels were chunky on sparkly mules.

Michele — who replaced Frida Giannini after her departure in January — closed a Chelsea street so the models could cross to the other side and enter his industrial space just as rolling metal gates were lifted. He covered floors with inviting oriental rugs.

The shaggy-haired, big-bearded designer in a slouchy white T-shirt, bracelets and fingers full of rings, greeted guests with warm hugs and a laugh. He said this collection, coming soon after his February debut in Milan, was focused on individual style.

Toymaker Mattel rolled out more diverse versions of the doll from January through last week, aimed at allowing Barbie to better represent the world. There are 23 new Fashionista Barbies featuring 14 different facial looks, eight skin tones, 18 eye colors, 22 hair styles and 23 hair colors.

The switch from heels to flats is an effort to accessorize street styles Barbie wears in the new line, Mattel said. Some new careeroriented Barbies also come with both flats and heels.

DENPASAR - Japan’s Yokohama city administration and the Indonesian government are cooperating to conserve the Bali starling (Leucopsar rothschildi), locally called jalak or curik, by donating the birds for release at the Bali Barat National Park (TNBB).

“This cooperation will last for three years, from 2015 to 2017,” Chairperson of the Association of Curik Bali Preserver (APCB) Tony Sumampau stated on Thursday. He affirmed that the cooperation is in its second stage, after it was established three years ago.

Director of Conservation and Biodiversity (KKH) of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry Bambang Dahono Aji noted that the success achieved in the conservation of Bali starling can serve as a role model of success for wildlife conservation in Indonesia.

“The success of Bali starling in-situ and ex-situ conservations is a success story of endemic wildlife conservation in Indonesia,” he emphasized. Aji stated that the success of Bali starling conservation is apparent by the increase in the population of these birds, which were

previously on the brink of extinction in their natural habitat in TNBB. “In 2005, the population of Bali starling in the national park was only five, and now, there are more than 100 birds, and at least 40 Bali starlings have even been released in the wild,” he rThe Yokohama city

administration remains committed to assist in the conservation of Bali starling in their natural habitat.

The Bali starling is a mediumlarge bird measuring 25 centimeters.

It is almost entirely white with a long, drooping crest, black wingtips and tail tip. It has a yellow bill

with blue bare skin around the eyes and legs.

The Bali starlings habitat is restricted to Bali Island. The bird was discovered in 1910, and in 1991, it was designated as the faunal emblem of Bali and is featured on the Indonesia. (ant)

Escape death penalty

Murderers of foreigner sentenced to 12 years in prison

Denpasar - Despite being charged for premeditated murder, defendant Julaikah Noor Aini alias Nur Ellis wife and mastermind behind the murder her husband Robert Kevin Ellis aka Mr.Bob, managed to avoid the death penalty. The Denpasar District Court judge presiding over the case sentenced both the murderous wife and the executors Urbanus Yoh and Yohanes Sairo Kodu each to 12 years n prison.

While issuing the verdict, the panel of judges led by A.A. Ketut Anom Wirakanta stated that the defendant had legally and convincingly committed the murder as stipulated by article 340 of the Penal Code in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 (1) of the Criminal Code.

Before arriving at a conclusion regarding this case, the judges consider a number of things. On the one hand was the consideration of the aggravating fact of the deed of the defendant which claimed a life while on the other was the the consideration of the alleviating fact that the defendant confessed and has no previous criminal record.

All three defendants who were convicted last Wednesday got less time that the 15 years in prison that prosecutors Raka Arimbawa and Dipa Umbara were asking for. .

In response to the reduced sentence that defendant Nur Aini received, her legal councillor Nyoman Wisnu et al, stated that they were still thinking about it. In the meantime, the defendant Urbanus Yoh and Yohanes Sairo Kodu accompanied by their legal counsellor Edy Hartaka stated that they accepted the judge’s decision.

The prosecutor however said that he was still thinking about it. “ Our clients have made a decision to accept the verdict, even though they had protested saying that it is the same as the palready made a discussion. Though they did originally protest the sentence because it was the same as the sentence of the main perpetrator, because the sentence was reduced from 15 years to 12 years, they have decided to accept it” said Edy Hartaka.

As revealed in the trial, the prosecutor stated that the murder of the victim was carried out at Villa Emerald at Jalan Karang Sari 5, Semawang hamlet, Sanur, South Denpasar, (Oct.19, 2014). The murder was committed in a deliberate and premeditated manner.

According to the prosecutor, the murder was kindled by defendant Nur Aini’s being upset with her husband Robert Kevin Ellis who allegedly liked to have love affairs and treated her badly. As a result she wanted to “teach him a lesson”.

She told her maid, Marlina Bela Zaghu alias Feli (separate defendant) to find a man who could resolve her problem. Feli contacted her boyfriend, Andreanus Ngongo alias Aril who eventually spoke to Nur Aini about looking for some thugs to do the deed.

On April 15, 2014, Aril declared that he had found someone -named Marten, who could ‘resolve her problem’. Eventually Marten contacted the defendants Urbanus and Yohannes to have them commit the murder on October 19, 2014 and dispose of the body. (kmb37)

Coastal areas of Klungkung “invaded” by investors Hotel and shell museum to be built at Sidayu

Semarapura - Coastal areas in the Klungkung region are now beginning to be overrun by investors. Currently investors not only have their eyes on Lepang Beach, but also on Sidayu Beach, Takmung village, Banjarangkan which is being targeted as the locations for the establishment of hotels and resorts. The resort development plan at Sidayu was confirmed by the arrival of an investor from PT The Luley Hijau Lestari who had a hearing at the office of the Klungkung regent on Wednesday (Jun. 10). The meeting not only involve relevant agencies, but also the headman of Takmung, I Nyoman Mudita, and

hamlet chief of Nyuhaya, I Nyoman Masta.

After the meeting, Headman of Takmung, I Nyoman Mudita, confirmed that there is a resort development plan for Sidayu Beach.

However, he added that the plan is still in progress. According to said plan, the investors will not only build a resort at Sidayu, but will also build a shell museum. The resort and shell museum development is scheduled to be carried out on an area of about 2 hectares. “ The land that was privately owned was bought by investors some time ago” said Mudita.

What about the approval of local residents? This former chief

of Lepang customary village said that Sidayu residents greatly support the resort and shell museum development. This public support was expressed when the investor unveiled its plan to build in Sidayu. The people of Sidayu feel that the presence of the resort will contribute to the people and their villages.

“The investor disseminated information about the planed project to local residents who showed great support, because the agricultural land near Sidayu beach is not very productive and is often submerged in sea-water at high tide anyway” he said.

tion to the villagers, Mudita also said that the investor promises to help prevent abrasion by having an embankment built along the coast, after the resort construction is complete. The investor however cannot ascertain with certainty when the project will begin because building a resort requires acquiring permits and so on”. Regent Suwirta on the occasion said that the construction of hotel and shell museum must attempt to represent Balinese style.

The buildings must not neglect to include the iconic paintings of Klungkung, namely classical Ka-

masan-style painting. Aside from the shell fossil museum, the regent also hopes that that Klungkung’s unique features will be taken into consideration in the building of this resort, by including mussels of Nusa Penida, gong craftsmen, the tourism potential of Kerta Gosa and other attractions. “ We in the county government always welcome investors wishing to contribute to the development of Klungkung. However we always urge them to comply with established procedurs including getting in touch with the local community and disseminating information about their projects” added Regent Suwirta emphatically. KATHMANDU — A landslide triggered by heavy rainfall buried at least 15 people and left dozens missing as they were sleeping at night in six villages in Nepal’s mountainous northeast, officials said Thursday.

The landslide hit in Taplejung district, about 500 kilometers (310 miles) east of the capital, Kathmandu, said government administrator Surendra Bhattarai.

At least 15 people were killed and dozens are missing under the debris, according to initial reports, but details are sketchy because of the remoteness of the area.

The nearest town is at least five hours’ away on foot when the weather is good, but getting to the site was taking much longer on Thursday because of rains and fog that prevented a rescue helicopter from landing, said Home Ministry official Laxmi Dhakal in Kathmandu. There are no government offices or police stations in the area.

Landslides are common in

mountainous Nepal during the rainy monsoon season, which began in June and ends in September.

The Himalayan nation is still recovering from earthquakes in April and May that killed more than 8,700 people and caused massive damage, with many of the roads cut off by landslides.

Meanwhile, the government announced Thursday it would hire international experts to study trekking routes in the mountains of Nepal to see if they are safe for hikers to return.

Nineteen people were killed and scores injured in an avalanche at Mount Everest base camp triggered by the April 25 quake. Also, the trails around the Langtang valley in northern Nepal were completely damaged and an entire village buried by a landslide and avalanche set off by the earthquake.

Tens of thousands of foreigners come to Nepal every year to trek on the foothills of the Himalayan peaks. The next trekking season starts in September. (ap)

BERLIN — German lawmakers are mulling whether to replace their entire computer system after a sophisticated hacking attack against Parliament’s IT network.

Parliamentary officials said last month that specialists were working to fix the security problem, but German media reported this week that large amounts of data are still being siphoned out by unknown attackers.

Lawmakers are meeting Thursday to learn more about the extent of the problem and debate measures

that would allow Parliament to continue its work.

Opposition parties object to a proposal for Germany’s domestic intelligence and IT security agencies to investigate the problem, saying this could threaten sensitive parliamentary work and breach the division of powers.

Green Party lawmaker Konstantin von Notz told rbb-Inforadio that the sophistication of the attack appears to point to an intelligence operation. (ap)

Cyberattack targeted Iran nuclear talks venues -Kaspersky Lab

GENEVA/BERLIN - A computer virus was used to hack into venues linked to international talks on Iran’s nuclear programme, Russian computer security company Kaspersky Lab said on Wednesday. Kaspersky said it found the software in three European hotels used in the negotiations involving Iran and six world powers and also on Kaspersky’s own computers.

Both Kaspersky and U.S. security company Symantec said the virus shared some programming with previously discovered espionage software called Duqu, which security experts believe to have been developed by Israelis. “Most notably, some of the new 20142015 infections are linked to the P5+1 events and venues related to the negotiations with Iran about a nuclear deal,” the statement said.

“P5+1” refers to the six world powers negotiating with Iran on curbs to its disputed nuclear programme - the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany. The talks have been held in Geneva, Lausanne, Montreux, Munich and Vienna. In February, the United States accused Israel of using selective leaks from the talks to distort the U.S. position.

Israel has denounced the diplomatic opening to Iran, saying it doubts any agreement arising from the talks will sufficiently restrain the nuclear programme of its archenemy. The West suspects Iran wants to develop a nuclear weapons capability from its enrichment of uranium. Iran says it wants nuclear energy only for electricity and medical isotopes.

During various rounds of the talks, Israeli officials said they knew what was being discussed from various sources including intelligence gathering and information relayed by allies. The officials did not elaborate on the latter, but asserted that Israel never spied on the United States, its closest ally.

Other victims of what Kaspersky called “Duqu 2.0” had been found in Western countries, the Middle East and Asia. Another attack, Kaspersky said, was carried out “in relation to” the commemoration of the 70th anniversary in January this year of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Nazi concentration camp in Poland.

That ceremony was attended by the heads of state of Germany, France, Britain and other nations.

Kaspersky said the new software included commands for an unknown type of control software that could have been used at the hotels for

conferencing tools.

DUQU SIMILAR TO STUXNET “WORM”

Kaspersky said Duqu 2.0 had evolved from the earlier Duqu, which had been deployed against unidentified targets for years before it was discovered in 2011.

Symantec and Kaspersky analysts have said there was overlap between Duqu and Stuxnet, a U.S.Israeli project that sabotaged Iran’s nuclear programme in 2009-10 by destroying a thousand or more centrifuges that were enriching uranium.

Kaspersky said Duqu 2.0 used three previously unknown flaws in Microsoft Corp Inc software to infect machines and spread, including a problem with Software Installer files, which are commonly used by technical administrators to install

and update software on Windows computers within an organisation.

The attack left almost no traces.

Microsoft said it fixed the last of those flaws on Tuesday. Moscowbased Kaspersky, a supplier of anti-virus software and other security tools, said it discovered the advanced malware earlier in the spring as a result of attacks it had seen on a number of organisations, including itself.

At a news conference in London, Chief Executive Eugene Kaspersky said malicious software designed by cyberspies often finds its way into the hands of cybercriminals, and thereby poses a far wider threat in a world that now relies on the Internet. “Cybercriminals are copying the technologies from the state-sponsored attacks. They educate the bad guys,” Kaspersky said. (rtr)

Greek leader meets creditors, seeks bailout breakthrough

BRUSSELS — Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras reinforced his diplomatic offensive on Wednesday to try to convince European creditors to pay out the bailout loans the country needs to avoid default. The creditors have made it clear that Greece has to improve its offer of economic reforms before they release 7.2 billion euros ($8.1 billion) the country needs to pay debts due at the end of the month.

Tsipras had a short meeting with EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and another with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande that lasted into early Thursday. He planned to continue talks with Juncker on Thursday.

“We decided to intensify the effort to bridge the remaining differences and proceed — I think will proceed — to a solution,” Tsipras said after the talks. Wednesday’s talks came after Juncker’s European Commission had said the offers made by Greece last week were still not good enough to unlock the bailout funds.

“For this final push, the Commission is of the view that the ball is clearly now in the court of the Greek government,” Commission spokesman Margaritis Schinas said.

With the onus firmly on Greece and options increasingly limited, Standard & Poor’s in New York downgraded Greece’s credit rating 1 notch further into junk territory, saying it’s likely the country will default on its commercial debt within a year if it can’t strike a deal with its creditors.

The ratings agency said Greece has shown it is giving higher priority to its pensions and other domestic spending than making debt payments on time. S&P lowered Greece’s rating to “CCC” from “CCC+” with a “negative” outlook.

Finance ministers from the 19 nations using the euro currency will meet in Luxembourg next week with the Greek deadline for payment ever closer. The lack of visible progress in the negotiations over the past weeks has revived fears Greece could default on its debts and drop out of the euro, a move that would create huge uncertainty for Europe and global markets.

“The goal is to keep Greece in the eurozone,” Merkel said. “Where there is a will,

there is a way.” Yet she insisted it was up to Tsipras first and foremost to show that willingness. Greece has three weeks left to conclude a deal with its creditors before its bailout program expires at the end of the

month, when it will also have to repay about 1.6 billion euros ($1.8 billion) to the International Monetary Fund.

“We must be quick. We must not let things drag out,” Hollande said. Tsipras insisted

not only Greece was at risk. “We must find a solution that will give Greece the opportunity to safely return to growth and a sustainable debt — on a course that will bring back security and stability not just to Greece but all of Europe.”

Athens is at odds with its creditors over what reforms Greece must make in return for the bailout loans. Each side has submitted its own proposals. But talks have been deadlocked since Athens rejected the creditors’ suggestions as irrational last Friday, saying they would make life harder for Greeks already reeling from five years of deep spending cuts and soaring unemployment.

European Commission vice president Vladis Dombrovskis stressed the importance of agreeing on overall targets for Greece’s primary surplus — the budget excluding debt and interest payments.

Athens has been arguing for lower primary surpluses than creditors demand, saying that insisting on high primary surpluses curtails the amount of funds that can be spent on the country and causes unnecessary hardship.

Minister of State Alekos Flambouraris, a close aide to Tsipras, told Alpha television that primary surplus being demanded by lenders is now 1 percent, and that Greece wants 0.75. He said Greece could settle at 0.85 and said it should be linked to further debt restructuring.

Tsipras’ radical left Syriza party won elections in January on promises of repealing the harsh budget austerity measures that accompanied Greece’s 240 billion euro bailout program.

With the country facing a severe cash crunch, he has agreed to make some concessions, although he insists he will not cross certain “red lines,” such as imposing further pension and salary cuts.

Tsipras must also face down hardliners within his own party, many of which have called for a break in relations with creditors and for Greece to go it alone, even if it means leaving the euro. (ap)

German unions join protest Senate shows support for against trans-Atlantic trade pact US Export-Import Bank

BERLIN — A powerful grouping of German trade unions says it will help organize protests this fall against a planned transAtlantic free trade pact. The Confederation German Trade Unions, known by its acronym DGB, says it has joined other groups calling for a mass demonstration on Oct. 10.

DGB spokeswoman, Maike Rademaker, confirmed the move first reported Wednesday by German business daily Handelsblatt.

There is unease in Germany about the possible consequences of the Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, or TTIP, currently being negotiated between the U.S. and the European Union.

The German government says it will boost the global economy, but critics claim it could lower food safety standards and undermine local regulation by giving international arbitration panels the power to rule over disputes. (ap)

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Senate has given a symbolic yet solid show of support to the Export-Import Bank, which provides financing for overseas purchases of Americanmade products and is scheduled to go out of existence June 30. Bank supporters posted 65 votes on a procedural test Wednesday, demonstrating more than enough strength to assure passage in the coming months of legislation to renew the bank’s charter. Op-

ponents had 31 votes.

Some conservatives hope to put the bank out of existence, calling it an example of crony capitalism that benefits large corporations.

Supporters say it neutralizes advantages that foreign governments give to companies abroad that compete with American firms.

At least a brief interruption in the bank’s charter seems likely, although supporters hope to pass renewal legislation this summer. (ap)

The Bdung health agency’ whose logo is a kris dagger is running low on vaccines because they do not keep a surplus stock of anti-rabbies vaccines (VAR).

Head of the Badung Health Agency, I Gede Putra Suteja acknowledged this fact and said that his agency has therefor allotted IDR. 3.5 million of their budget to procuring anti-rabbies vaccines from PT Bio Farma as distributor.

“Actually it (PT Bio Farma) has promised to supply 2,000 of the

40,00o files that have been ordered, sometimes his June. Yet so far, this has yet to be realized” said Suteja on Wednesday (Jun. 10).

He added that because health centres in Badung still only have a limited supply of the vaccine in stock, doctors are highly selective about who can be given the vac-

cine. That is to say that anti-rabies vaccines are only being given to patients who have been bitten by an animal identified as rabid. “In every case of a dog bite, people definitely ask to be vaccinated, but first the animal that bit them must be verified. If there is any indication of rabies, the patient will be given the

vaccine four times. Otherwise, the wound is adequately cleaned and the patient is simply given antibiotics” he explained.

One of the efforts that the public must make is to try to prevent the likelihood of being bitten by a rabies infected animals. “As much as possible avoid contact with infected or possibly animals in order to avoid being bitten” he said.

Based on the data of the Badung Health Agency, there were 1,937 cases of humans being bitten by ra-

bies infected dogs between January and April of this year. January saw 699 cases, Febuary 433, March 490 and there were 315 cases in April.

Head of the Badung Livestock, Fisheries and Maritime Affairs, I Made Badra, stated that his party has not found any cases of rabies in Badung. Agricultural land denoting one of the potentials owned by the region is increasingly squeezed. Similarly, breeders are

also increasingly difficult to find out land for business development, one of which is cattle farm. “Green land is getting narrower. It is much threatening the development of community business, both in agriculture and livestock,” he said.

Sukartana explained that reduction of green land has an impact on the difficulty to search fodder.

Nevertheless, this issue must not be considered a barrier. Breeders are not pessimistic to expand their business amid the invasion of development. “Even though the development runs rapidly, farmers do not get pessimistic in developing a business. On the contrary, farmers should be always optimistic,” he said.

He hoped that breeders must be able to face the problems by

developing creative things. One of them is that they can perform fermentation for animal fodder, so that it does not continue to rely on green grass. In addition to raising cattle, the breeders do not only depend on the proceeds of sales.

However, the waste generated must also be processed either for fertilizer or bio-urine believed to be able to increase revenue.

“Farmers do not just focus on raising cows and enjoying the proceeds alone. Waste treatment is also necessary to increase revenue,” he said.

In the meantime, a legislator of Commission II of the Bangli House, I Wayan Jamin, said that the development of livestock in Bangli, especially in group, has been very good. However, he con-

sidered there are still many things needing to be developed. He also agreed to the idea of Sukartana, namely farmers may not be pessimistic in the face of problems of agriculture and livestock. On the other hand, local government also needs to do an intensive development to breeder groups until they are independent.

He added that the current coaching seems not maximal and has not been carried out on a regular basis to the entire groups. On that account, to avoid the pessimism, the coaching should be done in totality and not half-heartedly. It is believed to be able to excite the farmers to maintain and expand their business amid the green land reduction. “If we want farmers and breeders not to be pessimistic,

the coaching should be intensified further. Make sure that the business can grow,” he said.

Jamin added that a number of breeder groups actually own initiative to treat waste produced by cattle, especially in the manufacture of organic fertilizers.

Former China security chief sentenced to life for corruption BEIJING — A court says it has sentenced former Chinese security chief Zhou Yongkang to life in prison on corruption charges following a closed-door trial.

Zhou, a former member of the ruling Communist Party’s all-powerful Politburo Standing Committee, is the biggest target to fall in President Xi Jinping’s ongoing anti-corruption campaign.

The First Intermediate People’s Court of Tianjin said Zhou was sentenced Thursday. It said he was convicted of receiving bribes, abusing his power and leaking state secrets. The sentence also mandates the seizure of all of Zhou’s personal assets.

It said Zhou accepted the court’s decision and will not file an appeal. (ap)

South Korea reports 10th death from MERS virus

SEOUL — South Korea reported a 10th death from the MERS virus on Thursday, although officials say they believe the disease has peaked. The victim was a 65-year-old man who had been treated for lung cancer and was hospitalized in the same facility as another MERS patient, the Health Ministry said.

The outbreak of Middle East respiratory syndrome has caused panic in South Korea. It has infected more than 120 people since the first case, a 68-yearold man who had traveled to the Middle East, was diagnosed on May 20.

About 3,800 people remained isolated Thursday after possible contact with infected people, according to the ministry, and more than 2,600 schools and kindergartens across South Korea were closed.

On Wednesday, experts from the World Health Organization and South Korea urged the schools’ reopening as the outbreak

in the country has so far been contained to hospitals and there is no evidence of sustained transmission in the community.

South Korean officials believe the outbreak may have peaked, although they say the next few days will be crucial to determining whether their efforts to isolate patients and control the disease have worked. Three people diagnosed with MERS were released from hospitals Thursday, bringing the total discharged to seven. President Park Geun-hye postponed her planned U.S. visit scheduled next week to focus on coping with the outbreak.

Most of the deaths so far have

been of people who had been suffering from pre-existing medical conditions, such as respiratory problems or cancer.

Experts think MERS can spread in respiratory droplets, such as by coughing. But transmissions have mainly occurred through close contact, such as living with or caring for an infected person.

MERS has mostly been centered in Saudi Arabia and has a death rate of about 40 percent among reported cases. It belongs to the family of coronaviruses that includes the common cold and SARS, and can cause fever, breathing problems, pneumonia and kidney failure. (ap)

BUENOS AIRES/BRUSSELS - Tensions over the Falkland Islands flared again on Wednesday, with Argentine President Cristina Fernandez referring to Britain’s leader as “almost ill-mannered” in his comments to an official of her government over the contested archipelago.

At a meeting of Latin American countries with the European Union in Brussels, Foreign Minister Hector Timerman had a heated exchange over dinner with Prime Minister David Cameron over the South Atlantic islands’ sovereignty.

The two countries fought a brief war over the islands in 1982, which Britain won. “The prime minister’s response was irate, almost illmannered,” Fernandez said during a public address.

A British government spokesman said: “The prime minister robustly defended the Falklands and the islanders’ right to self-determination in response the Argentine foreign minister raising the issue.”

Argentine state news service Telam said Timerman denounced

Britain for clinging to a “colonialist” policy and that Cameron had referred to those comments as “threatening”. The British spokesman said Cameron had accused Argentina of threatening companies operating in the seas around the islands.

“The prime minister underlined that the islanders had expressed their view in a referendum and that should be respected,” he said.

“He went on to add that the waters around the Falklands were territorial waters and it was unacceptable of Argentina to threaten investors seeking to operate there.”

In April, Argentina started legal proceedings in one of its courts against five companies, of which three are British, that are drilling for oil and gas off the Falklands, a move Britain denounced as bullying.

Britain administers the islands, known as the Malvinas in Argentina, as an overseas territory. The archipelago’s population of around 3,000 voted overwhelmingly to remain under British rule in a referendum in 2013. (rtr)

INDONESIA Rudiantara urges growth of national OTT mobile apps JAKARTA - Minister of Information and Communications Rudiantara encourages the development of national over the top (OTT) mobile Internet applications so they can compete with international OTTs such as Facebook and Twitter.

“The players are already there. We try to reach customers as quickly as possible so the 20 to 30 million accounts have an economic impact,” Rudiantara said on Wednesday.

He added that the ministry continues to facilitate local OTT players and mobile operators in Indonesia. However, to ensure the development of national OTT mobile applications, the ministry cannot facilitate all existing local OTT services.

“There are some five to six OTT services which I think are good,” he remarked. Moreover, Rudiantara pointed out that it is difficult to develop local OTT applications when the community itself does not support them. So he urged the community to support national OTT

services by using them so they can evolve and provide added value to the national economy.

“I will push for WhatsApp and Blackberry Messenger to be moved under the local OTT category. Journalists should also support this,” Rudiantara emphasized. Indonesia is currently dominated by international OTT applications like Twitter and Facebook, with as many as 40 million accounts of Indonesians on Twitter, he observed.

Chairperson of the Indonesian Telecommunication Providers Association Alexander Rusli noted that the organization supports the development of national OTT services.

If national OTT applications can reach 20 to 30 million subscribers, it will encourage the growth of telecommunication and information industries and boost the economy, he affirmed. Currently, Indonesia has a number of advanced OTT services such as Sebangsa and iMes. (ant)

Dahlan Iskan officially banned from traveling abroad JAKARTA - Former president director of state electricity firm (PT PLN) Dahlan Iskan has been officially banned from traveling abroad due to his alleged involvement in a graft case related to the development of 21 power stations. “The overseas travel ban on Dahlan Iskan came into effect on Monday (June 8) and will be valid for a period of six months,” Director of Investigation of the Directorate General of Immigration Mirza Iskandar stated on Wednesday.

Head of the Jakarta High Prosecutors Office Adi Toegarisman earlier remarked that his office had filed an application for an overseas travel ban on Iskan, who is also the former state enterprises minister.

“We have done it,” he pointed out. The prosecutors office plans to interrogate Iskan as a suspect in a corruption case on Thursday (June 12).

The prosecutors named Iskan as a suspect in a corruption case related to the development of 21 power stations worth Rp1.063 billion in Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara when he held the post of president director of PT PLN. He was named a suspect in the

case after being questioned. During the interrogation, the investigators found two pieces of evidence that were sufficient to name him as a suspect.

On May 6, the prosecutors office questioned Nur Pamuji who succeeded Iskan after the latter was promoted to the post of state enterprises minister during the government of former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at the end of 2011. So far, the prosecutors have named 15 people as suspects in the case, including nine PLN employees who have been detained.

All suspects are charged with Article 2 and Article 3 in connection with Article 18, point (1), letter b of Law Number 31/1999, in conjunction with Law Number 20/2001 on corruption eradication, in conjunction with Article 55, point (1) ke-1 of the criminal code, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years.

The mega power station projects, which were implemented by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, were commenced on December 11, 2011, and were targeted for completion by June 2013. (ant)

Economic stability determined by energy and food policy

JAKARTA - Institute for Development of Economic and Finance (Indef) said the government could keep inflation under control if it could maintain energy and food price stability. “Inflation data show from year to year if the prices of energy and food commodities could be controlled it is almost certain we could curb inflation,” Indef Director Enny Sri Hartati said.

The core of the problem of economic instability lies in the instability of the prices of energy and household basic necessities, Enny said. Rise in the prices of energy and basic necessities pushed up the countrys inflation to 0.5 percent in May or the highest monthlys inflation so far this year, Enny said.

She said the purchasing power of the people was weakened by energy and food price instability. The purchasing power of the people has been weakened by government policies such as rise in the energy prices late last year that pushed up inflation, she said. In order to create energy price stability, the government needs to create energy self sufficiency, she said. There should be allocation or investment by the government to strengthen energy security in the state budget, she added.

In order to give greater fiscal room for energy, the government needs to improve efficiency in the use of budget, she said.

She said, indeed, the government

already started move to improve efficiency in budget spending by cutting subsidy on oil fuel (BBM). “It was bold step by cutting the subsidy. From the point of logic the government has taken the right step as more fund could be appropriated for productive sectors,” she said.

However, the government failed to anticipate the impact of the BBM subsidy cut on the stability of the prices of essential goods, she said. “This was caused by lack of coordination that what we have in the first quarter of this year was a decline in the household consumption,” she said.

She said household consumption grew by less than 5 percent per day in the first quarter of 2015. “If the peoples purchasing power did not decline and the growth of household consumption could be maintained at around 5.4 percent, our economy could grow by ariound 5 percent,” she said.

Earlier the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), said inflation in May 2015, was 0.5 percent or the highest

Mays inflation in the past seven years, triggered by an increase in food prices.

With inflation 0.5 percent in May, the countrys inflation in the first five months of the year was 0.42 percent and year-on-year inflation was 7.15 percent. Core inflation was 0.23 percent and core inflation on-year was 5.04 percent.

Based on groups of spending , foodstuff group accounted for 1.39 percent of the Mays inflation , manufactured food, drinks, cigarette and tobacco for 0.5 percent and health group for 0.34 percent.

Among commodities rising in prices and contributing to Mays inflation included red chili, pure bred chicken meat and eggs, red onion , garlic , fresh fishes, electric tariff , tomato, and green chili. (ant)

With only a low-level athletics event on the program in Baku, Hickey sought to reassure potential bidders Thursday, saying the track and field competition would have a

“I have already very positive meetings with the new president of the European athletics federation,” he said. “He assures me that we will have top-level athletics in the next edition and of course we have to meet a few times to refine that.”

Corruption scandal in Latin America takes shine of Copa America

SANTIAGO - It should be South America’s showpiece soccer tournament. Instead the Copa America kicks off in Chile on Thursday as a widening U.S.-led investigation lifts the lid on rampant corruption among the sport’s top officials. The probe has exposed a criminal enterprise running from racketeering and bribery to wire fraud and money laundering, and the list of suspects now facing extradition to the United States reads like a who’s who of Latin America’s soccer establishment.

On the field, stars like Argentina’s Lionel Messi, Brazil’s Neymar and Colombia’s James Rodriguez are sure to provide enough magic to keep fans happy.

But the scandal has damaged soccer’s reputation in a region widely seen as its spiritual home and the cradle of many of its greatest players.

“Unfortunately our Copa America is stained by these events which have little to do with football,” Sergio Jadue, who heads Chile’s soccer federation.

Four years ago, when Uruguay hosted the tournament, Nicolas Leoz ruled over South America’s CONMEBOL soccer confederation, even securing legal immunity for the body’s headquarters in Paraguay.

Today, he is under house arrest in an upmarket neighborhood of Asuncion.

Eugenio Figueredo, a FIFA vice president, was Leoz’s deputy in 2011.

He and Rafael Esquivel, the sport’s boss in Venezuela, were among seven people arrested when Swiss police swooped on a hotel in Zurich on May 27. So too was Jose Maria Marin, Brazil’s former soccer chief.

In a region where the long arm of U.S. intervention is often resented, soccer fans from Bogota to Buenos Aires have broadly applauded the international probe. Many, however, are more sanguine about the prospects for ridding the sport of graft.

“This scandal changes little,” said Jaime Riquelme, a stamp salesman in Chile’s capital Santiago, where the Copa America kicks off with a match between Chile and Ecuador on Thursday night. “We all knew money was changing hands. It happens in all sports, baseball, soccer, basketball.”

South America’s embarrassed soccer federations hope the Copa America will shift focus away from the scandal, which last week forced Sepp Blatter to announce his res-

ignation as head of FIFA, soccer’s governing body.

But Paraguay’s Senate is likely to vote on Thursday to strip CONMEBOL’s headquarters of its pseudodiplomatic legal immunity, a protective shield that illustrates how FIFA and its affiliates have often been able to dodge justice. If the vote goes as expected, Paraguayan police could soon be raiding the plush home of South American soccer in search of documents and computer files to aid the U.S. probe.

At the center of the scandal are TV and commercial contracts for the Copa America. Sports media and marketing executives Alejandro Burzaco, Hugo Jinkis and son Mariano Jinkis, all Argentine nationals, are accused of winning the lucrative TV rights to the 2015, 2019 and 2023 tournaments by paying up to $110 million in bribes.

Three top CONMEBOL officials, including Leoz and the chiefs of the Argentine and Brazilian national federations, were to receive a total of $45 million in kickbacks with the rest to be disbursed among eight other unnamed CONMEBOL officials, according to the indictment.

Robbie Keane extends his contract with LA Galaxy

CARSON — Ireland forward Robbie Keane extended his contract with the LA Galaxy on Wednesday, agreeing to stay with the MLS club into the final years of his playing career.

The MLS champions refused to give details of Keane’s contract extension, but the prolific goalscorer had previously said he intended to stay with the Galaxy for at least a few more years. Keane turns 35 next month.

Brazil beats Honduras 1-0 in final warmup for Copa America

PORTO ALEGRE — Boosted by the return of Neymar, Brazil defeated Honduras 1-0 on Wednesday in its final warmup before traveling to Chile for the Copa America.

Neymar, who joined the squad on Monday after helping Barcelona win the Champions League, entered the match at halftime, when Brazil was already ahead thanks to Roberto Firmino’s 33rd-minute goal at the Beira-Rio Stadium.

Neymar had missed Brazil’s win over Mexico in a warmup in Sao Paulo on Sunday. Brazil didn’t threaten too much despite controlling the game played in steady rain.

Honduras played well at times and created a few good scoring chances. Some fans jeered the Brazilian team after the final whistle.

“We eased off the throttle a bit because we know the Copa America is the most important things for us,” veteran Brazil striker Robinho said. “The team is practically ready. We’ve been improving match after match, and the tendency is for us to do well in the Copa America.”

Firmino broke the deadlock with a left-footed shot from inside the area after a perfect feed from left back Filipe Luis. It was Firmino’s third goal with Brazil’s national team. Brazil beats Honduras 1-0 in final warmup for Copa America

PORTO ALEGRE — Boosted by the return of Neymar, Brazil defeated Honduras 1-0 on Wednesday in its final warmup before traveling to Chile for the Copa America.

Neymar, who joined the squad on Monday after helping Barcelona win the Champions League, entered the match at halftime, when Brazil was already ahead thanks to Roberto Firmino’s 33rd-minute goal at the Beira-Rio Stadium.

Neymar had missed Brazil’s win over Mexico in a warmup in Sao Paulo on Sunday. Brazil didn’t threaten too much despite controlling the game played in steady rain.

Honduras played well at times and created a few good scoring chances. Some fans jeered the Brazilian team after the final whistle.

The Dutch also questioned whether there would be enough top athletes at the games, particularly in swimming and athletics, traditionally the two most popular Olympic events.

With only a low-level athletics event on the program in Baku, Hickey sought to reassure potential bidders Thursday, saying the track and field competition would have a

high standard in 2019.

“I have already very positive meetings with the new president of the European athletics federation,” he said. “He assures me that we will have top-level athletics in the next edition and of course we have to meet a few times to refine that.”

Former China security chief sentenced to life for corruption BEIJING — A court says it has sentenced former Chinese security chief Zhou Yongkang to life in prison on corruption charges following a closed-door trial.

Zhou, a former member of the ruling Communist Party’s all-powerful Politburo Standing Committee, is the biggest target to fall in President Xi Jinping’s ongoing anti-corruption campaign.

The First Intermediate People’s Court of Tianjin said Zhou was sentenced Thursday. It said he was convicted of receiving bribes, abusing his power and leaking state secrets. The sentence also mandates the seizure of all of Zhou’s personal assets.

It said Zhou accepted the court’s decision and will not file an appeal. (ap)

South Korea reports 10th death from MERS virus

SEOUL — South Korea reported a 10th death from the MERS virus on Thursday, although officials say they believe the disease has peaked. The victim was a 65-year-old man who had been treated for lung cancer and was hospitalized in the same facility as another MERS patient, the Health Ministry said.

The outbreak of Middle East respiratory syndrome has caused panic in South Korea. It has infected more than 120 people since the first case, a 68-yearold man who had traveled to the Middle East, was diagnosed on May 20.

About 3,800 people remained isolated Thursday after possible contact with infected people, according to the ministry, and more than 2,600 schools and kindergartens across South Korea were closed.

On Wednesday, experts from the World Health Organization and South Korea urged the schools’ reopening as the outbreak

in the country has so far been contained to hospitals and there is no evidence of sustained transmission in the community.

South Korean officials believe the outbreak may have peaked, although they say the next few days will be crucial to determining whether their efforts to isolate patients and control the disease have worked. Three people diagnosed with MERS were released from hospitals Thursday, bringing the total discharged to seven. President Park Geun-hye postponed her planned U.S. visit scheduled next week to focus on coping with the outbreak.

Most of the deaths so far have

been of people who had been suffering from pre-existing medical conditions, such as respiratory problems or cancer.

Experts think MERS can spread in respiratory droplets, such as by coughing. But transmissions have mainly occurred through close contact, such as living with or caring for an infected person.

MERS has mostly been centered in Saudi Arabia and has a death rate of about 40 percent among reported cases. It belongs to the family of coronaviruses that includes the common cold and SARS, and can cause fever, breathing problems, pneumonia and kidney failure. (ap)

BUENOS AIRES/BRUSSELS - Tensions over the Falkland Islands flared again on Wednesday, with Argentine President Cristina Fernandez referring to Britain’s leader as “almost ill-mannered” in his comments to an official of her government over the contested archipelago.

At a meeting of Latin American countries with the European Union in Brussels, Foreign Minister Hector Timerman had a heated exchange over dinner with Prime Minister David Cameron over the South Atlantic islands’ sovereignty.

The two countries fought a brief war over the islands in 1982, which Britain won. “The prime minister’s response was irate, almost illmannered,” Fernandez said during a public address.

A British government spokesman said: “The prime minister robustly defended the Falklands and the islanders’ right to self-determination in response the Argentine foreign minister raising the issue.”

Britain for clinging to a “colonialist” policy and that Cameron had referred to those comments as “threatening”. The British spokesman said Cameron had accused Argentina of threatening companies operating in the seas around the islands.

“He went on to add that the waters around the Falklands were territorial waters and it was unacceptable of Argentina to threaten investors seeking to operate there.”

INDONESIA Rudiantara urges growth of national OTT mobile apps JAKARTA - Minister of Information and Communications Rudiantara encourages the development of national over the top (OTT) mobile Internet applications so they can compete with international OTTs such as Facebook and Twitter.

“The players are already there. We try to reach customers as quickly as possible so the 20 to 30 million accounts have an economic impact,” Rudiantara said on Wednesday.

He added that the ministry continues to facilitate local OTT players and mobile operators in Indonesia. However, to ensure the development of national OTT mobile applications, the ministry cannot facilitate all existing local OTT services.

“There are some five to six OTT services which I think are good,” he remarked. Moreover, Rudiantara pointed out that it is difficult to develop local OTT applications when the community itself does not support them. So he urged the community to support national OTT

services by using them so they can evolve and provide added value to the national economy.

“I will push for WhatsApp and Blackberry Messenger to be moved under the local OTT category. Journalists should also support this,” Rudiantara emphasized. Indonesia is currently dominated by international OTT applications like Twitter and Facebook, with as many as 40 million accounts of Indonesians on Twitter, he observed.

Chairperson of the Indonesian Telecommunication Providers Association Alexander Rusli noted that the organization supports the development of national OTT services.

If national OTT applications can reach 20 to 30 million subscribers, it will encourage the growth of telecommunication and information industries and boost the economy, he affirmed. Currently, Indonesia has a number of advanced OTT services such as Sebangsa and iMes. (ant)

Dahlan Iskan officially banned from traveling abroad JAKARTA - Former president director of state electricity firm (PT PLN) Dahlan Iskan has been officially banned from traveling abroad due to his alleged involvement in a graft case related to the development of 21 power stations. “The overseas travel ban on Dahlan Iskan came into effect on Monday (June 8) and will be valid for a period of six months,” Director of Investigation of the Directorate General of Immigration Mirza Iskandar stated on Wednesday.

Head of the Jakarta High Prosecutors Office Adi Toegarisman earlier remarked that his office had filed an application for an overseas travel ban on Iskan, who is also the former state enterprises minister.

“We have done it,” he pointed out. The prosecutors office plans to interrogate Iskan as a suspect in a corruption case on Thursday (June 12).

The prosecutors named Iskan as a suspect in a corruption case related to the development of 21 power stations worth Rp1.063 billion in Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara when he held the post of president director of PT PLN. He was named a suspect in the

case after being questioned. During the interrogation, the investigators found two pieces of evidence that were sufficient to name him as a suspect.

On May 6, the prosecutors office questioned Nur Pamuji who succeeded Iskan after the latter was promoted to the post of state enterprises minister during the government of former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at the end of 2011. So far, the prosecutors have named 15 people as suspects in the case, including nine PLN employees who have been detained.

All suspects are charged with Article 2 and Article 3 in connection with Article 18, point (1), letter b of Law Number 31/1999, in conjunction with Law Number 20/2001 on corruption eradication, in conjunction with Article 55, point (1) ke-1 of the criminal code, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years.

Economic stability determined by energy and food policy

JAKARTA - Institute for Development of Economic and Finance (Indef) said the government could keep inflation under control if it could maintain energy and food price stability. “Inflation data show from year to year if the prices of energy and food commodities could be controlled it is almost certain we could curb inflation,” Indef Director Enny Sri Hartati said.

The core of the problem of economic instability lies in the instability of the prices of energy and household basic necessities, Enny said. Rise in the prices of energy and basic necessities pushed up the countrys inflation to 0.5 percent in May or the highest monthlys inflation so far this year, Enny said.

She said the purchasing power of the people was weakened by energy and food price instability. The purchasing power of the people has been weakened by government policies such as rise in the energy prices late last year that pushed up inflation, she said. In order to create energy price stability, the government needs to create energy self sufficiency, she said. There should be allocation or investment by the government to strengthen energy security in the state budget, she added.

In order to give greater fiscal room for energy, the government needs to improve efficiency in the use of budget, she said.

She said, indeed, the government

already started move to improve efficiency in budget spending by cutting subsidy on oil fuel (BBM). “It was bold step by cutting the subsidy. From the point of logic the government has taken the right step as more fund could be appropriated for productive sectors,” she said.

However, the government failed to anticipate the impact of the BBM subsidy cut on the stability of the prices of essential goods, she said. “This was caused by lack of coordination that what we have in the first quarter of this year was a decline in the household consumption,” she said.

She said household consumption grew by less than 5 percent per day in the first quarter of 2015. “If the peoples purchasing power did not decline and the growth of household consumption could be maintained at around 5.4 percent, our economy could grow by ariound 5 percent,” she said.

Earlier the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), said inflation in May 2015, was 0.5 percent or the highest

Based on groups of spending , foodstuff group accounted for 1.39 percent of the Mays inflation , manufactured food, drinks, cigarette and tobacco for 0.5 percent and health group for 0.34 percent.

Among commodities rising in prices and contributing to Mays inflation included red chili, pure bred chicken meat and eggs, red onion , garlic , fresh fishes, electric tariff , tomato, and green chili. (ant)

The creditors have made it clear that Greece has to improve its offer of economic reforms before they release 7.2 billion euros ($8.1 billion) the country needs to pay debts due at the end of the month.

Tsipras had a short meeting with EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and another with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande that lasted into early Thursday. He planned to continue talks with Juncker on Thursday.

“We decided to intensify the effort to bridge the remaining differences and proceed — I think will proceed — to a solution,” Tsipras said after the talks. Wednesday’s talks came after Juncker’s European Commission had said the offers made by Greece last week were still not good enough to unlock the bailout funds.

“For this final push, the Commission is of the view that the ball is clearly now in the court of the Greek government,” Commission spokesman Margaritis Schinas said.

With the onus firmly on Greece and options increasingly limited, Standard & Poor’s in New York downgraded Greece’s credit rating 1 notch further into junk territory, saying it’s likely the country will default on its commercial debt within a year if it can’t strike a deal with its creditors.

The ratings agency said Greece has shown it is giving higher priority to its pensions and other domestic spending than making debt payments on time. S&P lowered Greece’s rating to “CCC” from “CCC+” with a “negative” outlook.

Finance ministers from the 19 nations using the euro currency will meet in Luxembourg next week with the Greek deadline for payment ever closer. The lack of visible progress in the negotiations over the past weeks has revived fears Greece could default on its debts and drop out of the euro, a move that would create huge uncertainty for Europe and global markets.

“The goal is to keep Greece in the eurozone,” Merkel said. “Where there is a will,

there is a way.” Yet she insisted it was up to Tsipras first and foremost to show that willingness. Greece has three weeks left to conclude a deal with its creditors before its bailout program expires at the end of the

month, when it will also have to repay about 1.6 billion euros ($1.8 billion) to the International Monetary Fund.

“We must be quick. We must not let things drag out,” Hollande said. Tsipras insisted

not only Greece was at risk. “We must find a solution that will give Greece the opportunity to safely return to growth and a sustainable debt — on a course that will bring back security and stability not just to Greece but all of Europe.”

Athens is at odds with its creditors over what reforms Greece must make in return for the bailout loans. Each side has submitted its own proposals. But talks have been deadlocked since Athens rejected the creditors’ suggestions as irrational last Friday, saying they would make life harder for Greeks already reeling from five years of deep spending cuts and soaring unemployment.

European Commission vice president Vladis Dombrovskis stressed the importance of agreeing on overall targets for Greece’s primary surplus — the budget excluding debt and interest payments.

Athens has been arguing for lower primary surpluses than creditors demand, saying that insisting on high primary surpluses curtails the amount of funds that can be spent on the country and causes unnecessary hardship.

Minister of State Alekos Flambouraris, a close aide to Tsipras, told Alpha television that primary surplus being demanded by lenders is now 1 percent, and that Greece wants 0.75. He said Greece could settle at 0.85 and said it should be linked to further debt restructuring.

Tsipras’ radical left Syriza party won elections in January on promises of repealing the harsh budget austerity measures that accompanied Greece’s 240 billion euro bailout program.

With the country facing a severe cash crunch, he has agreed to make some concessions, although he insists he will not cross certain “red lines,” such as imposing further pension and salary cuts.

Tsipras must also face down hardliners within his own party, many of which have called for a break in relations with creditors and for Greece to go it alone, even if it means leaving the euro. (ap)

BERLIN — A powerful grouping of German trade unions says it will help organize protests this fall against a planned transAtlantic free trade pact. The Confederation German Trade Unions, known by its acronym DGB, says it has joined other groups calling for a mass demonstration on Oct. 10.

DGB spokeswoman, Maike Rademaker, confirmed the move first reported Wednesday by German business daily Handelsblatt.

There is unease in Germany about the possible consequences of the Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, or TTIP, currently being negotiated between the U.S. and the European Union.

The German government says it will boost the global economy, but critics claim it could lower food safety standards and undermine local regulation by giving international arbitration panels the power to rule over disputes. (ap)

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Senate has given a symbolic yet solid show of support to the Export-Import Bank, which provides financing for overseas purchases of Americanmade products and is scheduled to go out of existence June 30. Bank supporters posted 65 votes on a procedural test Wednesday, demonstrating more than enough strength to assure passage in the coming months of legislation to renew the bank’s charter. Op-

ponents had 31 votes.

Some conservatives hope to put the bank out of existence, calling it an example of crony capitalism that benefits large corporations.

Supporters say it neutralizes advantages that foreign governments give to companies abroad that compete with American firms.

At least a brief interruption in the bank’s charter seems likely, although supporters hope to pass renewal legislation this summer. (ap)

Mangupura - The Badung Health Agency is having trouble meeting the demands for anti-rabies vaccines (VAR) amidst the relatively high incidence of dog bites of late. The Bdung health agency’ whose logo is a kris dagger is running low on vaccines because they do not keep a surplus stock of anti-rabbies vaccines (VAR).

Head of the Badung Health Agency, I Gede Putra Suteja acknowledged this fact and said that his agency has therefor allotted IDR. 3.5 million of their budget to procuring anti-rabbies vaccines from PT Bio Farma as distributor.

“Actually it (PT Bio Farma) has promised to supply 2,000 of the

40,00o files that have been ordered, sometimes his June. Yet so far, this has yet to be realized” said Suteja on Wednesday (Jun. 10).

He added that because health centres in Badung still only have a limited supply of the vaccine in stock, doctors are highly selective about who can be given the vac-

cine. That is to say that anti-rabies vaccines are only being given to patients who have been bitten by an animal identified as rabid. “In every case of a dog bite, people definitely ask to be vaccinated, but first the animal that bit them must be verified. If there is any indication of rabies, the patient will be given the

vaccine four times. Otherwise, the wound is adequately cleaned and the patient is simply given antibiotics” he explained.

One of the efforts that the public must make is to try to prevent the likelihood of being bitten by a rabies infected animals. “As much as possible avoid contact with infected or possibly animals in order to avoid being bitten” he said.

Based on the data of the Badung Health Agency, there were 1,937 cases of humans being bitten by ra-

bies infected dogs between January and April of this year. January saw 699 cases, Febuary 433, March 490 and there were 315 cases in April.

Head of the Badung Livestock, Fisheries and Maritime Affairs, I Made Badra, stated that his party has not found any cases of rabies in Badung. Breeders are not pessimistic to expand their business amid the invasion of development. “Even though the development runs rapidly, farmers do not get pessimistic in developing a business. On the contrary, farmers should be always optimistic,” he said.

He hoped that breeders must be able to face the problems by

developing creative things. One of them is that they can perform fermentation for animal fodder, so that it does not continue to rely on green grass. In addition to raising cattle, the breeders do not only depend on the proceeds of sales.

However, the waste generated must also be processed either for fertilizer or bio-urine believed to be able to increase revenue.

“Farmers do not just focus on raising cows and enjoying the proceeds alone. Waste treatment is also necessary to increase revenue,” he said.

Murderers of foreigner sentenced to 12 years in prison

Denpasar - Despite being charged for premeditated murder, defendant Julaikah Noor Aini alias Nur Ellis wife and mastermind behind the murder her husband Robert Kevin Ellis aka Mr.Bob, managed to avoid the death penalty. The Denpasar District Court judge presiding over the case sentenced both the murderous wife and the executors Urbanus Yoh and Yohanes Sairo Kodu each to 12 years n prison.

While issuing the verdict, the panel of judges led by A.A. Ketut Anom Wirakanta stated that the defendant had legally and convincingly committed the murder as stipulated by article 340 of the Penal Code in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 (1) of the Criminal Code.

Before arriving at a conclusion regarding this case, the judges consider a number of things. On the one hand was the consideration of the aggravating fact of the deed of the defendant which claimed a life while on the other was the the consideration of the alleviating fact that the defendant confessed and has no previous criminal record.

All three defendants who were convicted last Wednesday got less time that the 15 years in prison that prosecutors Raka Arimbawa and Dipa Umbara were asking for. .

In response to the reduced sentence that defendant Nur Aini received, her legal councillor Nyoman Wisnu et al, stated that they were still thinking about it. In the meantime, the defendant Urbanus Yoh and Yohanes Sairo Kodu accompanied by their legal counsellor Edy Hartaka stated that they accepted the judge’s decision.

The prosecutor however said that he was still thinking about it. “ Our clients have made a decision to accept the verdict, even though they had protested saying that it is the same as the palready made a discussion. Though they did originally protest the sentence because it was the same as the sentence of the main perpetrator, because the sentence was reduced from 15 years to 12 years, they have decided to accept it” said Edy Hartaka.

As revealed in the trial, the prosecutor stated that the murder of the victim was carried out at Villa Emerald at Jalan Karang Sari 5, Semawang hamlet, Sanur, South Denpasar, (Oct.19, 2014). The murder was committed in a deliberate and premeditated manner.

According to the prosecutor, the murder was kindled by defendant Nur Aini’s being upset with her husband Robert Kevin Ellis who allegedly liked to have love affairs and treated her badly. As a result she wanted to “teach him a lesson”.

She told her maid, Marlina Bela Zaghu alias Feli (separate defendant) to find a man who could resolve her problem. Feli contacted her boyfriend, Andreanus Ngongo alias Aril who eventually spoke to Nur Aini about looking for some thugs to do the deed.

On April 15, 2014, Aril declared that he had found someone -named Marten, who could ‘resolve her problem’. Eventually Marten contacted the defendants Urbanus and Yohannes to have them commit the murder on October 19, 2014 and dispose of the body. (kmb37)

Coastal areas of Klungkung “invaded” by investors Hotel and shell museum to be built at Sidayu

Semarapura - Coastal areas in the Klungkung region are now beginning to be overrun by investors. Currently investors not only have their eyes on Lepang Beach, but also on Sidayu Beach, Takmung village, Banjarangkan which is being targeted as the locations for the establishment of hotels and resorts. The resort development plan at Sidayu was confirmed by the arrival of an investor from PT The Luley Hijau Lestari who had a hearing at the office of the Klungkung regent on Wednesday (Jun. 10). The meeting not only involve relevant agencies, but also the headman of Takmung, I Nyoman Mudita, and

After the meeting, Headman of Takmung, I Nyoman Mudita, confirmed that there is a resort development plan for Sidayu Beach.

However, he added that the plan is still in progress. According to said plan, the investors will not only build a resort at Sidayu, but will also build a shell museum. The resort and shell museum development is scheduled to be carried out on an area of about 2 hectares. “ The land that was privately owned was bought by investors some time ago” said Mudita.

What about the approval of local residents? This former chief

of Lepang customary village said that Sidayu residents greatly support the resort and shell museum development. Landslide hits 6 villages in Nepal; 15 dead, dozens missing

KATHMANDU — A landslide triggered by heavy rainfall buried at least 15 people and left dozens missing as they were sleeping at night in six villages in Nepal’s mountainous northeast, officials said Thursday.

The landslide hit in Taplejung district, about 500 kilometers (310 miles) east of the capital, Kathmandu, said government administrator Surendra Bhattarai.

At least 15 people were killed and dozens are missing under the debris, according to initial reports, but details are sketchy because of the remoteness of the area.

The nearest town is at least five hours’ away on foot when the weather is good, but getting to the site was taking much longer on Thursday because of rains and fog that prevented a rescue helicopter from landing, said Home Ministry official Laxmi Dhakal in Kathmandu. There are no government offices or police stations in the area.

Landslides are common in

mountainous Nepal during the rainy monsoon season, which began in June and ends in September.

The Himalayan nation is still recovering from earthquakes in April and May that killed more than 8,700 people and caused massive damage, with many of the roads cut off by landslides.

Meanwhile, the government announced Thursday it would hire international experts to study trekking routes in the mountains of Nepal to see if they are safe for hikers to return.

Nineteen people were killed and scores injured in an avalanche at Mount Everest base camp triggered by the April 25 quake. Also, the trails around the Langtang valley in northern Nepal were completely damaged and an entire village buried by a landslide and avalanche set off by the earthquake.

Tens of thousands of foreigners come to Nepal every year to trek on the foothills of the Himalayan peaks. The next trekking season starts in September. (ap)

BERLIN — German lawmakers are mulling whether to replace their entire computer system after a sophisticated hacking attack against Parliament’s IT network.

Parliamentary officials said last month that specialists were working to fix the security problem, but German media reported this week that large amounts of data are still being siphoned out by unknown attackers.

Lawmakers are meeting Thursday to learn more about the extent of the problem and debate measures

that would allow Parliament to continue its work.

Opposition parties object to a proposal for Germany’s domestic intelligence and IT security agencies to investigate the problem, saying this could threaten sensitive parliamentary work and breach the division of powers.

Green Party lawmaker Konstantin von Notz told rbb-Inforadio that the sophistication of the attack appears to point to an intelligence operation. (ap)

Cyberattack targeted Iran nuclear talks venues -Kaspersky Lab

GENEVA/BERLIN - A computer virus was used to hack into venues linked to international talks on Iran’s nuclear programme, Russian computer security company Kaspersky Lab said on Wednesday. Kaspersky said it found the software in three European hotels used in the negotiations involving Iran and six world powers and also on Kaspersky’s own computers.

Both Kaspersky and U.S. security company Symantec said the virus shared some programming with previously discovered espionage software called Duqu, which security experts believe to have been developed by Israelis. “Most notably, some of the new 20142015 infections are linked to the P5+1 events and venues related to the negotiations with Iran about a nuclear deal,” the statement said.

“P5+1” refers to the six world powers negotiating with Iran on curbs to its disputed nuclear programme - the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany. The talks have been held in Geneva, Lausanne, Montreux, Munich and Vienna. In February, the United States accused Israel of using selective leaks from the talks to distort the U.S. position.

Israel has denounced the diplomatic opening to Iran, saying it doubts any agreement arising from the talks will sufficiently restrain the nuclear programme of its archenemy. The West suspects Iran wants to develop a nuclear weapons capability from its enrichment of uranium. Iran says it wants nuclear energy only for electricity and medical isotopes.

During various rounds of the talks, Israeli officials said they knew what was being discussed from various sources including intelligence gathering and information relayed by allies. The officials did not elaborate on the latter, but asserted that Israel never spied on the United States, its closest ally.

Other victims of what Kaspersky called “Duqu 2.0” had been found in Western countries, the Middle East and Asia. Another attack, Kaspersky said, was carried out “in relation to” the commemoration of the 70th anniversary in January this year of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Nazi concentration camp in Poland.

That ceremony was attended by the heads of state of Germany, France, Britain and other nations.

Kaspersky said the new software included commands for an unknown type of control software that could have been used at the hotels for

conferencing tools.

DUQU SIMILAR TO STUXNET “WORM”

Kaspersky said Duqu 2.0 had evolved from the earlier Duqu, which had been deployed against unidentified targets for years before it was discovered in 2011.

Symantec and Kaspersky analysts have said there was overlap between Duqu and Stuxnet, a U.S.Israeli project that sabotaged Iran’s nuclear programme in 2009-10 by destroying a thousand or more centrifuges that were enriching uranium.

Kaspersky said Duqu 2.0 used three previously unknown flaws in Microsoft Corp Inc software to infect machines and spread, including a problem with Software Installer files, which are commonly used by technical administrators to install

and update software on Windows computers within an organisation.

The attack left almost no traces.

Microsoft said it fixed the last of those flaws on Tuesday. Moscowbased Kaspersky, a supplier of anti-virus software and other security tools, said it discovered the advanced malware earlier in the spring as a result of attacks it had seen on a number of organisations, including itself.

At a news conference in London, Chief Executive Eugene Kaspersky said malicious software designed by cyberspies often finds its way into the hands of cybercriminals, and thereby poses a far wider threat in a world that now relies on the Internet. “Cybercriminals are copying the technologies from the state-sponsored attacks. They educate the bad guys,” Kaspersky said. (rtr)

Bali’s exports to Spain increased 38.93 percent

DENPASAR - The exports of unique Balinese crafts and antiques to Spain increased by 38.93 percent, from US$5.4 million recorded in January-April 2014 to US$7.4 million in the same period in 2015.

“Spain imports various woven products in the form of sandals, cloth bags, non-knitted items, confectionery, and furniture,” Balinese entrepreneur Made Parwata stated here on Thursday.

According to Parwata, Balis growth in foreign trade, particularly with Spain, seems positive, especially after the government increased the frequency of flights to European countries. He remarked that Spanish consumers are consistent in buying various Balinese art products.

Spanish importers always order items via email every month. In addition to Spain, the Netherlands, Greece, England, France, and the United States are the top ten buyers of Balinese handicrafts.

According to records provided by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Bali, Spain ranks seventh in the list of largest buyers of Balinese non-oil products in early 2015, after the United States, which is the biggest consumer, with exports amounting to US$38.8 million followed

by Japan at US$16.5 million, Singapore US$14 million, and Australia US$13.3 million.

The increasing number of foreign tourists travelling to Bali is expected to significantly affect foreign trading, especially the sale of souvenirs and agricultural products, including Balinese coffee. (ant)

Toymaker Mattel rolled out more diverse versions of the doll from January through last week, aimed at allowing Barbie to better represent the world. There are 23 new Fashionista Barbies featuring 14 different facial looks, eight skin tones, 18 eye colors, 22 hair styles and 23 hair colors.

The switch from heels to flats is an effort to accessorize street styles Barbie wears in the new line, Mattel said. Some new careeroriented Barbies also come with both flats and heels.

DENPASAR - Japan’s Yokohama city administration and the Indonesian government are cooperating to conserve the Bali starling (Leucopsar rothschildi), locally called jalak or curik, by donating the birds for release at the Bali Barat National Park (TNBB).

“This cooperation will last for three years, from 2015 to 2017,” Chairperson of the Association of Curik Bali Preserver (APCB) Tony Sumampau stated on Thursday. He affirmed that the cooperation is in its second stage, after it was established three years ago.

Director of Conservation and Biodiversity (KKH) of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry Bambang Dahono Aji noted that the success achieved in the conservation of Bali starling can serve as a role model of success for wildlife conservation in Indonesia.

“The success of Bali starling in-situ and ex-situ conservations is a success story of endemic wildlife conservation in Indonesia,” he emphasized. Aji stated that the success of Bali starling conservation is apparent by the increase in the population of these birds, which were

previously on the brink of extinction in their natural habitat in TNBB. “In 2005, the population of Bali starling in the national park was only five, and now, there are more than 100 birds, and at least 40 Bali starlings have even been released in the wild,” he rThe Yokohama city

administration remains committed to assist in the conservation of Bali starling in their natural habitat.

The Bali starling is a mediumlarge bird measuring 25 centimeters.

It is almost entirely white with a long, drooping crest, black wingtips and tail tip. It has a yellow bill

with blue bare skin around the eyes and legs.

The Bali starlings habitat is restricted to Bali Island. The bird was discovered in 1910, and in 1991, it was designated as the faunal emblem of Bali and is featured on the Indonesia. (ant)

Angelina found dead, buried with her doll Denpasar-

The joint team of the Bali Police, Denpasar Police and East Denpasar Police returned to Angelina’s house at 26 Jalan Sedap Malam, Denpasar on Wednesday (Jun. 10). The officers arrived at the house approximately 11:30 a.m. and Unit Chief of the Bali Police Crime and Violence, Pande Sugiarta, immediatelya instructed his men to look for a hoe, shovel and crowbar.

After digging in four locations, the body of 8 year old Angelina was finally found in a banana garden on a pile of rubbish.

When excavated, the body of the second grade of elementary school student was found wrapped in a cloth and tied with nylon rope. The police also found a Barbie doll buried with her.

The police went to the victim’s house while her foster mother Margaret was out shopping at a supermarket on Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai, Denpasar. Police used the op-

portunity to investigate the house and the chicken coop. “There was only a security guard there at the time”, said on of the Bali Police officers.

The officers revealed that around 11:30 a.m. the joint team arrived at the scene of the crime where they met security guard, Dewa Ketut Raka, and two boarders named Susiana and Rahmat. Behind the house, near some banana tress, the police

officers found a parcel wrapped in fabric a half meter lower than the ground. They opened the parcel only to find that it was in fact Angelina’s body. The Police also secured a shovel, hoe and a rope that was alleged to have been used to strangle the victim.

“We found her (AngelinaóEd) in the area behind the house near the chicken coop, rather close to some banana trees. An uneven ground surface appeared to have been covered with garbage, and raised out suspicions.

We eventually dug in that spot and found Angelina’s body” he said.

To ensure that this was in fact the body of deceased Angelina, the police chief ordered forensic experts from the forensic laboratory of Denpasar Branch and the INAFIS of Bali Police to come to the crime scene. “We believe that the body that was found was Angelina’s. Legal companion from the Center for Integrated Services of Women and Child Empowerment (P2TP2A) of Denpasar, Siti Sapurah, immediately hugged Amidah, Angelina’s biological mother upon arrival at the forensic department of Sanglah Hospital on Wednesday (Jun. 10).

Sapurah did her best to calm Amida down and console her as she cried incessantly.

Sapurah, familiarly addressed as Ipung firmly said that before being murdered, Angeline had repeatedly experienced sexual violence at the hands of Agustinus, Margaretha’s maid. “While being examined by the police, Agustinus who had been working for Margaretha for a week, admitted that he had committed sexual violence against Angelina almost everyday” revealed Siti Sapurah.

Every Temple and Shrine has a special date for it annual Ceremony, or “ Odalan “, every 210 days according to Balinese calendar, including the smaller ancestral shrine which each family possesses. Because of this practically every few days a ceremony of festival of some kind takes place in some Village in Bali. There are also times when the entire island celebrated the same Holiday, such as at Galungan, Kuningan, Nyepi day, Saraswati day, Tumpek Landep day, Pagerwesi day, Tumpek Wayang day etc.

The dedication or inauguration day of a Temple is considered its birth day and celebration always takes place on the same day if the wuku or 210 day calendar is used. When new moon is used then the celebration always happens on new moon or full moon. The day of course can differ the religious celebration of a temple lasts at least one full day with some temple celebrating for three days while the celebration of Besakih temple, the Mother Temple, is never less than 7 days and most of the time it lasts for 11 days, depending on the importance of the occasion.

The celebration is very colorful. The shrine are dressed with pieces of cloths and sometimes with brocade, sailings, decorations of carved wood and sometimes painted with gold and Chinese coins, very beautifully arranged, are hung in the four corners of the shrine. In front of shrine are placed red, white or black umbrellas depending which Gods are worshipped in the shrines.

In front of important shrine one sees, besides these umbrellas soars, tridents and other weapons, the “umbul-umbul”, long flags, all these are prerogatives or attributes of Holiness. In front of the Temple gate put up “Penjor”, long bamboo poles, decorated beautifully ornaments of young coconut leaves, rice and other products of the land. Most beautiful to see are the girls in their colorful attire, carrying offerings, arrangements of all kinds fruits and colored cakes, to the Temple. Every visitor admires the grace with which the carry their load on their heads.

LOS ANGELES - Pop singer Miley Cyrus is back in the buff, covered only in mud as she hugs a pig to support the charity she founded in a photo gracing Paper Magazine, as she reveals her romantic attraction to females.

Cyrus, who made waves in 2013 when she appeared nude atop a swinging ball in the music video for her hit song “Wrecking Ball,” appears on the cover of the pop culture magazine strategically hugging a pig to support the Happy Hippy Foundation, which she founded to help raise funds and awareness for homeless and LGBT youth.

The 22-year-old former Disney star also revealed that she has experienced same-sex attractions, saying she told her mother at age 14 that she felt romantic feelings toward females.

“I remember telling her I admire women in a different way. And she asked me what that meant. And I said, I love them. I love them like I love boys,” she told Paper.

Cyrus rose to fame as the lead of Disney Channel’s “Hannah Montana” show, but shed her child star persona for a more risque image in recent years.

The magazine shoot also featured photographs of Cyrus fully nude and wearing body paint.

Cyrus said that in building the foundation she was particularly moved by the December suicide of transgender teen Leelah Alcorn, who said she had been forced to undergo “conversion therapy” by her parents.

“We can’t keep noticing these kids too late,” Cyrus said.
