Mariah Carey staying in a hostel is something you’ve gotta see

Kesha

Kesha officiates a real same-sex marriage in her latest music video LOS ANGELES - Longtime LGBTQ rights advocate Kesha has just released the video for “I Need a Woman to Love,” which is a reimagining of Janis Joplin’s rock song “I Need a Man to Love” with gender-flipped pronouns. And it actually celebrates that love, showing her officiating a real same-sex wedding between two women in Las Vegas. The women, identified only as Dani and Lindsay, were selected to appear in Kesha’s video after submitting a clip explaining their wish to get married. The video includes dialogue from both women, relating their history. “I had put in my mind that there were just certain parts of life I wasn’t going to participate in,” noted Lindsay. “Because of who I was. Even when I didn’t know who I was, I knew I was different. “When we first met, getting married legally wasn’t an option, so I don’t think it was something that we kept as a step that we could do,” she continued. “It was just, ‘That’s

not for you.’” The ceremony — which featured rainbow-motifed decor, including Kesha herself in a multicolored fringed tunic — took place at the Bellagio resort on March 26. The video reminds viewers that this date is the anniversary of the first-ever marriage license issued to a samesex couple in the United States. The two women wrote their own vows, some of which Kesha read, and some they spoke directly to each other. They ranged from traditional sentiments (“I knew from the moment I saw you that you were unlike any other person on earth, and after meeting you I would never be the same”) to ones that are bit heartbreaking (“I promise to always hold your hand, no matter what anyone around us thinks”). Before Kesha declared them married, the couple swore to create their own “wonderfully weird” family. They kissed under a shower of rainbow confetti, with family and friends observing with smiles and tears. (net)

LOS ANGELES - Mariah Carey is promoting hostels now, and it’s actually kind of amazing.

The “Always Be My Baby” singer is trying to change the perception of hostels, teaming up for a sketch with Hostelworld called “Even Divas Are Believers.” In the video — which you can watch below — Carey accidentally arrives at the $40-a-night Casa Gracia during a trip to Barcelona. Miraculously, she ends up liking it so much that she dresses up in a fancy sequined dress, hits the cocktail bar, and performs “Fantasy” (with a white dove) to backpackers and travelers. Even the press release is gold. One line reads, “Known for outlandish diva demands, from ordering dog chauffeurs to demanding 20 white kittens and 100 doves for a performance and even having bodyguards watch her eat, Mariah surprised everyone when she exclaimed the hostel was ‘Fabulous!’” Carey says, “For some reason, someone thought it would be funny to book me in a hostel. To mine and everyone’s surprise, the hostel was fabulous! It was super-clean, modern, and spacious. I say give hostels a go — it could be a great choice for all you world travelers out there!” OK … but did Mariah actually stay in a hostel while filming this sketch? Now that’s something we’d have to see to believe. (net)

In total, some 40 people were admitted with symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, shortness of breath and unconsciousness, and several are still being treated, Sumpena said. In Bandung itself, police chief Hendro Pandowo said three people died on Sunday after being admitted to hospitals the day before suffering the symptoms of alcohol poisoning. High taxes on alcohol have spawned a black market for booze among the poor in Indonesia, the world’s most populous

Muslim nation, where drinking alcohol is frowned upon but not illegal under civil law. Potentially lethal methanol can be a byproduct of bootleg distilling and the tainted alcohol is also sometimes mixed with soft drinks. In February 2016, about 30 people died in the central Java city of Yogyakarta after drinking bootleg alcohol. The deaths since the beginning of April total 54. There were six deaths from drinking compromised liquor in the easternmost region of Papua in late March. Media reports

said police had closed four liquor stores in the Cicalengka region and confiscated dozens of jerry cans containing palm wines and hundreds of bottles of various types of liquor. Jakarta police spokesman Argo Yuwono said Monday that 31 people have died in Jakarta and its satellite cities of Depok and Bekasi from alcohol poisoning in separate incidents since the beginning of the month. Police have arrested at least four suspects in the Jakarta area who are accused of selling tainted liquor. (ant)
