South Korea boy band BIGBANG rocks in Japan Associated Press Writer

TOKYO — South Korean pop group BIGBANG is set to end a massively successful tour of Japan, cementing its status as one of the more popular boy bands in Asia. The five-member band closes out the tour, with stops at all six of Japan’s domed stadiums, with three shows starting Saturday in Osaka. The band is popular because, unlike

some of the manufactured Korean pop music, its members often write and produce their own music, a mix of electronic sound, hip hop and rap. That combination also means fans follow the band for other trends as well. “The fact that people look at what we created, whether it is fashion, music or dance moves, and are willing to follow them, makes us feel good because we feel like we provided great inspirations to them,”

BIGBANG member Taeyang said during the band’s stop in Tokyo. The 16-show tour is expected to draw about 770,000 fans when it is finishes next week. Band leader G-Dragon, one of the top-earning artists in South Korea, said the band members were nervous at the start of the tour, but relaxed as the shows started and “were able to have fun with each performance.” The other members of the band are T.O.P, Daesung and Seungri.

“In principle, the rules made by government is ineffective or not expressly. When committed to enforce the rules, the government must guard the investors from the beginning of licensing process until the project is executed. So, any fraud can be minimized,” said Putu Anom in Denpasar. He also judged that government was not careful in issuing building permits that was frequently misused. As a result, not a few building permits of private home were then functioned as villas. “People ask for building permit for private home but is finally taken advantage for commercial villas without having an accommodation license,” he said. He said the growth of tourist accommodation in Bali was increasingly unmanageable. Until the end of 2013, Bali had undergone a surplus in room despite an increase in tourist arrivals, but the average room occupancy rate

fell when compared to the year 2012. “If this condition persists, it will kindle a price war excluding the additional hotel development, especially in Southern Bali and the moratorium plan is only a discourse. Its zoning is unclear,” he said. According to him, the land conversion increasingly reached productive lands, either rice field, plantation or forest, while the violation of shorelines, ravines and lakes increasingly worsened. The environmental damage proliferated and the island of Bali had been getting pockmarked. Chairman of the Bali Villa Association, Jero Mangku Wayan Suteja, also admitted that competition of villas in Bali was increasingly difficult due to the proliferation of villas in Bali, especially in the areas favored by many tourists such as Badung and Gianyar. Even, the average annual growth reached 10 percent.

“Competition will be getting more intense because every year the growth of villa tends to increase. Among the very rapid growth of the villa, the most rampantly seen is in Badung and Ubud area,” he said. It was mentioned the number of villa in Bali reached more than1,200 villas where 700 villas were located in Badung, while the rest scattered in Tabanan, Buleleng, Klungkung, Gianyar and other regions. “The unlicensed is more than 10 percent,” he said. It was mentioned that his party had urged the central government to immediately approve the National Villa Standards having been designed to suppress the growth of unlicensed villas. “At the moment, there have been no clear rules governing the existence of villas so many villas are not licensed. We encourage tourism ministry to immediately issue the National Villa Business Standards,” he said. He added the rules were just waiting for an endorsement from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. Thus, the local government and provincial government just needed to follow the standards having been implemented by central government through the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. (kmb27)
