Screen legend Diane Keaton opens up about age, marriage and Hollywood LOS ANGELES - Diane Keaton claims to be one of the fortunate ones: as the screen legend reflects on age, marriage, and nearly half a century of working in Hollywood, she says that she’s never felt sexually harassed. “Never. Maybe I just wasn’t harassment material,” said Keaton, who has 68 screen credits since her 1970 debut in the comedy “Lovers and Other Strangers.” The 72-year-old’s big screen appearances include “The Godfather” (1972) and its sequels, two “Father of the Bride” movies in the 1990s with Steve Martin and “Something’s Gotta Give” with Jack Nicholson (2003), for which she won a Golden Globe. But the actress truly made her mark co-starring in eight Woody Allen movies, from “Play in Again Sam” (1972) to “Manhattan Murder Mystery” (1993).
She won her best actress Oscar for starring in “Annie Hall” (1977) with Allen and was nominated a further three times. Keaton and Allen were lovers for a time, and when they broke up they remained friends and work partners. As the Hollywood sexual harassment scandals detonated in late 2017, cascading from producer Harvey Weinstein to heavyweight actors like Kevin Spacey, old accusations of child sex abuse against Allen by his adoptive daughter Dylan resurfaced. “Woody Allen is my friend and I continue to believe him,” Keaton tweeted in January 2018. For all her confidence and bravado, Keaton preferred simply not to talk about the controversial actor and director -- and did not answer a question about whether she’d work with him again. (afp)

Disney sets dates for next three ‘Star Wars’ films from 2022

Three new as-yet untitled “Star Wars” films will hit the big screen every other year just before Christmas starting in 2022, the megastudio announced. That means that there could be a three-year wait between the December release of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” the final film in the original series begun in 1977, and the next big-screen “Star Wars” flick. Several “Star Wars” projects are in the works, including a trilogy by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, the creators of HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” and a separate trilogy by “Last Jedi” director Rian Johnson. A spokeswoman for Disney, contacted by AFP, did not offer ad-
ditional details about the upcoming scheduled films, which will expand upon the cinematic universe created by George Lucas. Disney paid $4 billion for Lucasfilm in 2012. In September last year, Disney CEO Bob Iger admitted after the lackluster performance of “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” a one-off film in the franchise, that the “Star Wars” release schedule was too frenetic. After six films in 38 years, from 1977 to 2005, the rhythm had picked up considerably. A total of four films came in rapid succession, from the release of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” in 2015 to “Solo” in May 2018. “I made the timing decision, and as I look back, I think the mistake
that I made -- I take the blame -- was a little too much, too fast,” Iger told The Hollywood Reporter last year. Meanwhile, the studio pushed back its plans for the next films in director James Cameron’s uber-successful “Avatar” franchise -- one of the biggest prizes for Disney in the Fox merger. “Avatar 2” will come a year later than expected in December 2021, followed by “Avatar 3” in 2023, “Avatar 4” in 2025 and “Avatar 5” in 2027. “Avatar” remains the top-grossing film of all time, with $2.79 billion in worldwide box office sales, but superhero extravaganza “Avengers: Endgame” is hot on its heels at $2.24 billion and rapidly climbing. Liverpool produced one of the most stunning comebacks in Champions League history to beat Barcelona 4-0 and progress to the final for the second consecutive year on Tuesday as stand-in striker Divock Origi and substitute Georginio Wijnaldum both scored twice. Liverpool went into the match at Anfield trailing 3-0 from the first leg and deprived of injured star attacking duo Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino. However, Origi -- making a rare start -- and substitute Wijnaldum both netted twice as Barca for the second season in succession surrendered a three-goal first-leg lead to exit the Champions League. “With any other team I wouldn’t think it was possible. They are really mentality giants,” Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said. “It is unbelievable the season we had, the games we had, the injuries we had now. “Going out there and putting in a performance like this on the pitch is unbelievable. I am really
proud to be the manager of this team. “What they did tonight was really special. I will remember it forever.” Liverpool will face either Dutch side Ajax or Premier League rivals Tottenham in the final on June 1 in Madrid and will likely be favourites to be crowned European champions for the sixth time. The Reds’ stunning victory brought back memories of when they last lifted the trophy in 2005 when they overturned a 3-0 halftime deficit in the final against AC Milan in Istanbul. However, Klopp underlined the importance of his side writing their own history even if their bid for a first Premier League title for 29 years falls short behind Manchester City this weekend. “We believed in this chance, we didn’t compare it with Istanbul or whatever,” added Klopp. “We want to create our own history. We need new chapters obviously and the boys did it.” Despite the despondency of losing Salah and Firmino, Klopp’s men never lost faith and were accompanied by a typically raucous Anfield atmosphere for a European night. Origi would almost certainly not have started had Salah and Firmino been fit. But the 24-year-old Belgian has made a habit of scoring important goals in Liverpool’s title challenge and had his first ever in the Champions League on seven minutes on the rebound after Marc-Andre ter Stegen had denied Jordan Henderson’s initial effort. “We know this club is the mix of atmosphere, emotion, desire and football quality. You cut off one
and it doesn’t work, we know that,” Klopp said. “This club has a big heart. The heart was pounding like crazy, you could hear it and feel it all over the world. I am so happy we could give the people this experience.” - Barca collapse again Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverdewas left to face up to the second major European embarrassment of his time in charge. The Spanish champions blew a 4-1 first-leg lead to bow out at the quarter-finals against Roma last year. “The most hurtful thing is to repeat it,” said Valverde, who may struggle to hold on to his job despite guiding Barca to two La Liga titles. “When you have a collapse of this nature we will have a few horrible days ahead.” His side were left to rue not taking their chances in the first half after weathering Liverpool’s early burst. Lionel Messi had seemingly turned the tie in the Catalans’ favour late in the first leg with a brilliant free-kick and his first effort was tipped over by Alisson Becker before the Brazilian denied his international teammate Philippe Coutinho.
