Because the attack from NICA was increasing, so the troops must move again to the south towards Gempinis then to the house of Desak Raka in Munduk Malang, Dewa Nyoman jahen. They kept moving from one place to another until they met Gusti Sukra, the Head of the Youth Organization of Timpag.

Since then, Desak Raga continue to fight in the field of education and one of them by establishing SLUB which will become Sarawasti School.

In his life, Desak Raka joined many organizations.

“We do everything possible to maintain the community stability associated with the fuel fulfillment. It can be ascertained that fuel stock in Bali is secure,” said Iin Febrian in Denpasar.

According to Iin, the fuel stock in Bali had no constraints, as happened in some regions beyond Bali. Quota of the subsidized fuel for Bali in 2012 reached 767,038 kiloliters (KL) for Premium, while 224,155

KL for diesel fuel. The amount was predicted to suffice until the end of the year and even the realization could exceed about one percent.

“Fuel quota in Bali experiences no reduction, so that it is secure until the end of 2012.

Dormant, headquarters museum of Ngurah Rai almost collapses Tabanan (Bali Post)—

Commitment of Tabanan Regency to historical heritage is worth questioning. As evidence, the headquarters museum of Gusti Ngurah Rai at Munduk Malang, Dalang village, East Selemadeg, is in very poor condition. The roof has broken and almost collapses, even the door has been fragile and the key has vanished.

Condition of the floor is also unkempt and filled with dust. More ironically, the photos of Gusti Ngurah Rai and his troops were left rusty. Meanwhile, the miniature of Ngurah Rai sculpture and his men look disheveled and dusty.

Damages to the General Headquarters (MBO) monument of the People’s Struggle Council of the RI Lesser Sunda have long taken place.

However, it has never been touched by a single improvement project.

“This museum has started to badly damage since the past five years, where many roofs have fallen because of rain,” said Ida Bagus Putu Madya, 63, a resident who lives next to the museum, Wednesday (Nov 28). More sadly, its wall also

starts to be mossy. Being unlocked, it is often used by children or wild dogs to play. IB Putu Madya added that such condition made the museum look vile.

Besides, the telephone device installed is also out of order and rusty. As a matter of fact, this museum is the forerunner of the troops of Gusti Ngurah Rai in the struggle to maintain the independence. The headquarters initiated by Gusti Ngurah Rai was built around 1946.

But, it results nothing,” he said by telephone last Wednesday. So far, he said the maintenance was only carried out by village authorities with a minimal cost so the damage could not be addressed. Karangasem Hospital does not have a radiologist after Handojo has retired. As a result, patients in Karangasem are confused because they must go to Denpasar to get X-ray service. It was revealed by a member of Commission D of the Karangasem House, Iluh Purnaminingsih, Wednesday (Nov 28).

She said to receive many complaints from families accompanying patients to Karangasem Hospital because they did not obtain complete services. “Many patients complained because they could not get X-ray service,” said Purnaminingsih. Buleleng Regency through the Culture and Tourism Agency takes another way to promote local tourism potential.

Within two days, the agency held a screening of the film Rumah di Seribu Ombak (House on a Thousand Waves) at the hall of the Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha), Singaraja.

The Head of the Buleleng Culture and Tourism Agency, Ketut Warkadea, accompanied by Art Section Head, Wayan Sujana, in his office on Wednesday (Nov 28) said the film would be played on Saturday (Dec 1) and Sunday (Dec 2).

As scheduled, the film would be screened for two times. On the first day, the agency would invite the officials in the Buleleng Regency, leadership and legislators of the Buleleng House.

After that, the screening on the follow-

ing day targeted the line ups of pupils, students, and general public. Before the screening, it would be filled with introductions to some actors getting involved in the film.

Introduction to the actors of the film was ascertained to be eagerly awaited because some actors were the natives to Buleleng such as Tutik Kusumawadini, a legislator, and a little actor who had enough talent. According to the Head of Culture and Tourism Agency, Warkadea, screening of the film was intended to promote the tourism in Buleleng.

Moreover, the film lasting for 105 minutes was shot at several tourist attractions in Buleleng such as Lovina, Gitgit and elsewhere. In addition, the film also tells about cultural acculturation and genuine friendship despite coming from different religions and beliefs. (kmb)

“Arrival intensity of the fuel-conveying vessel is quite often, namely on average of two and three days. It is to maintain the fuel stability of the availability in Bali,” Iin said.

Iin said the fuel distribution to Bali Island so far was carried out through two entrances, namely depot at Manggis, Karangasem that did not only meet the needs in Bali but also the needs in West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara up to Timor Leste. Besides, it was also distributed through Pesanggaran Depot in Denpasar. The fuel would be further distributed by 67 tank trucks of Pertamina to 180 gas stations across Bali.

“In Bali, the condition is conducive enough and no scarcity happens as in other regions. Bali is different where there are no long lines. It is our collective duty to maintain because Bali is a tourist destination. Hopefully, it will be secure until this year end,” Iin said. (kmb27)

Zippers and “Bo-flakes” deck the White House Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON — “Bo-flakes” featuring the first dog and ornaments fashioned from zippers are among the new twists on traditional favorites at the White House this Christmas season. First lady Michelle Obama unveiled this year’s decorations before an appreciative crowd of military families Wednesday, then spent some time doing holiday crafts with military kids.

The theme for this year’s decorations is “Joy to All,” but first dog Bo seems to steals the show. There are 40 “Bo-flake” ornaments throughout the White House that feature cutout images of the dog.

There’s a life-size replica of the dog, with a string of lights in his mouth, in the East Garden Room. And there’s an outsized statue of the Portuguese water dog next to the 300-pound (136kilogram) gingerbread house in the State Dining Room.

Mrs. Obama said that reflects Bo’s high standing at the White House. “He’s almost as big as the house,” she declared. “He is such a huge personality.” Visitors also will get a Bo bookmark that sends them on a scavenger hunt for “Bo-ornaments” stashed in eight rooms.

Bo himself made an appearance during Wednesday’s festivities, sporting a jingle bell collar, and was quickly swarmed by young guests.

This year’s decorations include lots of handmade items that could easily be done at home, including patriotic wreaths and ornaments wrapped in red, white and blue yarn to fit with

Mrs. Obama’s emphasis on supporting military families.

The gargantuan gingerbread house, however, is not a feat for amateurs to attempt: It contains more than 175 pounds of gingerbread and modified gingerbread and more than 50 pounds (22 kilograms) of chocolate. Pastry chef Bill Yosses mixed up a combination of wheat, rye and white-flour gingerbread that mimics the color of the sandstone house prior to 1798, when the house was first painted white.

More than 90,000 visitors are expected to pass through the White House this holiday season. Executive chef Cristeta Comerford said she’s drawing on the recipes in Mrs. Obama’s gardening book, “American Grown,” as she prepares food for all the guests. The treats will include sweet potato quick bread, green beans with almonds and a winter salad featuring fennel.

The massive decorating job — there are 54 live Christmas trees in the White House — comes together in just five days, with the help of 85 volunteers from around the country.

The fish processing waste is treathen to contaminate the sea

The shed of boiled fish processing at Kusamba village, Dawan, makes the potential of local fisheries still survive. However, the shed begins to give forth serious environmental impact. Its waste is discharged into the sea so that it often triggers a protest from fishermen. Local fishermen hope the waste of fish boiling can be channeled into septic tank so as not to contaminate the environment.

Previously, the waste had been complained by one of the local fisherman group leaders, I Wayan Suartika. He once conveyed the impact of the waste on the fishermen’s catches at Kusamba. At that time, Suartika alleged the waste caused the decline in the catch of local fishermen. The waste was considered to contaminate the sea so that no fish were stuck in the fishing nets when going to sea.

As field observation of Bali Post on Wednesday (Nov 28), the waste of fish boiling was indeed flowed into the sea. One of the Kusamba residents who boiled fish at the location, Dewa Ayu Rai, admitted it. Every single processing, she could produce 400 baskets containing ten fish.

The fish that had passed through boiling process was sold at higher price. “A fish bought from fisherman at IDR 1,300 was sold for IDR 15,000 to IDR 25,000 per basket containing ten fish. The boiled fish is then sold to traditional markets in Bangli, Badung, Gianyar to Menanga in Rendang, Karangasem,” she said.

Within a day, they could work for 12 hours depending on the fish supply.

The fish boiling shed is now only relying on the fish supply from Karangasem because Kusamba fishermen have long suffered a famine. As consequence, many Kusamba fishermen are now looking for another job. The boiled fish makers are charged a levy of IDR 300 per basket of fish and cleaning up service at IDR 7,000 per month.

QUITO - WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is suffering from a chronic lung ailment that could worsen at any time and is being checked regularly by doctors, the Andean country’s ambassador to Britain said on Wednesday. Assange, 41, whose website angered the United States by releasing thousands of secret diplomatic cables, has been holed up inside Ecuador’s embassy in London since June to avoid extradition to Sweden for questioning over rape and sexual assault allegations. Assange has denied any wrongdoing.

WASHINGTON - The U.S. government banned BP Plc on Wednesday from new federal contracts over its “lack of business integrity” in the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill, possibly imperiling the company’s role as a top U.S. offshore oil and gas producer and the No. 1 military fuel supplier.

The suspension, announced by the Environmental Protection Agency, comes on the heels of BP’s November 15 agreement with the U.S. government to plead guilty to criminal misconduct in the Gulf of Mexico disaster, the worst offshore oil spill in U.S. history. The British energy giant agreed to pay $4.5 billion in penalties, including a record $1.256 billion criminal fine.

BP and its affiliates are barred from new federal contracts until they demonstrate they can meet federal business standards, the EPA said. The suspension is “standard practice” and BP’s existing U.S. government contracts are not affected, it said.

The EPA acted hours before a government auction of offshore tracts in the Gulf of Mexico, a region where BP is the largest investor and lease-holder of deep-water tracts and hopes for further growth. BP is also the top fuel supplier to the U.S. military, the largest single buyer of oil in

the world.

Suspension of contracts could give the government leverage to pressure BP to settle federal and state civil litigation that could top $20 billion if a court finds BP was grossly negligent in the Deepwater Horizon disaster.

An EPA official said government-wide suspensions generally do not exceed 18 months, but can continue longer if there are ongoing legal cases.

In a statement, BP said it has been in “regular dialogue” with the EPA, and that the agency has informed BP that it is preparing an agreement that “would effectively resolve and lift this temporary suspension.” The EPA has notified BP that the draft agreement will be available soon, BP said.

U.S. operations accounted for more than 30 percent of BP’s pretax profits in the third quarter, and the United States accounts for about a fifth of BP’s global oil production.

The U.S. military has been a

reliable customer of BP’s jet fuel and other refined products. As recently as September, BP affiliates won two military fuel contracts worth as much as $1.37 billion, according to a website that tracks U.S. military contracts.

The EPA’s action is a sign that all federal contractors will be held to high standards, said Scott Amey, general counsel for the Project on Government Oversight, a private watchdog group.

“BP had years to improve its business ethics and is paying the price for its inaction,” Amey said.

On November 15, BP Finance Director Brian Gilvary told investors on a conference call that any blanket ban could force the company to rethink its entire U.S. business.

The Justice Department says it intends to prove in a court case set to get underway in February 2013 that BP was grossly negligent under the Clean Water Act, a claim the company has adamantly denied.fuel supplier.

LOS ANGELES - A strike by clerical workers shut down terminals at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach on Wednesday after other workers refused to cross picket lines at the nation’s busiest combined cargo complex, officials said.

Seven of eight terminals at the Port of Los Angeles were shut down by the action, along with three of six terminals at the neighboring Port of Long Beach, officials at the facilities said.

Longshore clerks at the ports are in a dispute with terminal operators over staffing issues.

The clerks, represented by a unit of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) Local 63, took to the picket line on Wednesday, and other key personnel such as crane operators also represented by the ILWU have refused to cross picket lines.

Stephen Berry, lead negotiator for port operators the Los Angeles/Long Beach Harbor Employers Association, said the strike marks “a dangerous escalation” in his group’s ongoing dispute with the union representing the clerks.

He added that if the strike continues “the negative effects on jobs and the economy will be felt nationwide.”

Most of the goods for sale in the holiday season have already moved through the ports, said Art Wong, a spokesman for the Port of Long Beach.

“The goods will be here, and they’ll move whenever they resolve this, so hopefully it will be very quickly,” he said.

The clerks say the Harbor Employers Association wants to outsource jobs they currently handle. The association counters the union wants them to hire unneeded workers.

The strike is the largest shutdown at the combined ports since 2002, said Phillip Sanfield, spokesman for the Port of Los Angeles.

The Port of Los Angeles is the largest U.S. container port by volume, and last year goods valued a combined $273 billion passed through the facility.

The combined ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach are the busiest U.S. cargo shipping complex.

Indonesia green lights Russia’s Sukhoi jet to fly

JAKARTA ? Indonesia has certified a Russian-made passenger jetliner as safe to fly in the country six months after the same model crashed into a volcano during a demonstration flight, an official said Wednesday.

The Sukhoi Superjet-100 was deemed airworthy last week by the country’s general directorate of civil aviation, said Transportation Ministry spokesman Bambang Ervan.

The certification was based on a thorough validation process and has nothing to do with the crash investigation that’s still ongoing, he said.

“It was granted after a careful validation process, which found the type has met all required standards,” Ervan said.

In May, a Sukhoi Superjet-100 crashed into Mount Salak, a dor-

mant Indonesian volcano, during a demonstration flight to impress potential buyers, killing all 45 people aboard.

Masruri, head of the Air Transportation Safety Division, said the investigation into the crash has been completed and the results are expected to be announced as soon as next month. He declined to provide any additional details. Like many Indonesians, he uses only one name.

Meanwhile, Sunaryo, an official from Sukhoi’s representative office in Indonesia, PT Trimarga Rekatama, said the certification will allow delivery of the aircraft

to its first customer in Southeast Asia, the Indonesian airline Sky Aviation, which has signed a deal for 12 planes.

He added that the first delivery is expected to arrive before the end of the year.

But the situation in Europe could affect the financing ability of firms looking to expand in 2013, he said.

A survey by the British Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia released

on Tuesday found 56 percent of firms positive on their outlook in the country, with only 3 percent very negative.

Basri said he found the survey overly confident.

Indonesia targets $40 billion investments

JAKARTA - Indonesia’s government is targeting around $40 billion in total investment in 2013, up about 25 percent from this year’s record levels, as companies look to take advantage of surging consumer demand, the country’s investment chief said on Tuesday.

Durant nets 37 as Thunder spoil Harden’s return Reuters

Kevin Durant greeted former team mate James Harden with 37 points as the Oklahoma City Thunder blasted Houston Rockets 120-98 on Wednesday to spoil the shooting guard’s return to the Chesapeake Energy Arena. Harden returned to Oklahoma City for the first time since being traded just before the season and it was a forgettable night for him and the Rockets (7-8).

Powered by Durant’s hot shooting, the Thunder (12-4) blew open a close game in the second quarter where they led by 18 before keeping the visiting Rockets at bay. “I really wanted to win this game,” Durant told reporters. “Especially for all those times in practice that (Harden) and the rest of the second team beat all of us on the first team.”

Serge Ibaka backed Durant with 23 and nine rebounds and Oklahoma City raced to their second straight blowout, having destroyed Charlotte 114-69 on Monday.

Harden, the Sixth Man of the Year last season, has emerged as the lead scorer for Houston but struggled against the Thunder making three of 16 shots for 17 points. It had already been a humbling day for the Rockets who earlier attended the funeral of coach Kevin McHale’s daughter who died from an auto-immune disease last week. McHale has been away from the team since November 10.

Patrick Patterson scored a team-high 27 points for Houston but there were few bright spots for the visitors.

The Rockets were within two after the first quarter, but Oklahoma City opened the second with a 9-0 run and kicked things into another gear. Kevin Martin, who was sent to the Thunder from Houston as part of the Harden trade, ended up with 17 points off the bench.

LONDON - After two stultifying 0-0 draws at Stamford Bridge and a frosty “welcome” from home fans Rafael Benitez may be relieved to venture across London on Saturday when his Chelsea side face West Ham United at Upton Park.

“The sad epilogue to the game is that we see thousands of Brondby fans running onto the pitch,” police inspector Michael Kristiansen, adding the fans were arrested for disorder and breaches of firework regulations.

WASHINGTON - The U.S. government banned BP Plc on Wednesday from new federal contracts over its “lack of business integrity” in the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill, possibly imperiling the company’s role as a top U.S. offshore oil and gas producer and the No. 1 military fuel supplier.

The suspension, announced by the Environmental Protection Agency, comes on the heels of BP’s November 15 agreement with the U.S. government to plead guilty to criminal misconduct in the Gulf of Mexico disaster, the worst offshore oil spill in U.S. history. The British energy giant agreed to pay $4.5 billion in penalties, including a record $1.256 billion criminal fine.

BP and its affiliates are barred from new federal contracts until they demonstrate they can meet federal business standards, the EPA said. The suspension is “standard practice” and BP’s existing U.S. government contracts are not affected, it said.

The EPA acted hours before a government auction of offshore tracts in the Gulf of Mexico, a region where BP is the largest investor and lease-holder of deep-water tracts and hopes for further growth. BP is also the top fuel supplier to the U.S. military, the largest single buyer of oil in

the world.

Suspension of contracts could give the government leverage to pressure BP to settle federal and state civil litigation that could top $20 billion if a court finds BP was grossly negligent in the Deepwater Horizon disaster.

An EPA official said government-wide suspensions generally do not exceed 18 months, but can continue longer if there are ongoing legal cases.

In a statement, BP said it has been in “regular dialogue” with the EPA, and that the agency has informed BP that it is preparing an agreement that “would effectively resolve and lift this temporary suspension.” The EPA has notified BP that the draft agreement will be available soon, BP said.

U.S. operations accounted for more than 30 percent of BP’s pretax profits in the third quarter, and the United States accounts for about a fifth of BP’s global oil production.

The U.S. military has been a

reliable customer of BP’s jet fuel and other refined products. As recently as September, BP affiliates won two military fuel contracts worth as much as $1.37 billion, according to a website that tracks U.S. military contracts.

The EPA’s action is a sign that all federal contractors will be held to high standards, said Scott Amey, general counsel for the Project on Government Oversight, a private watchdog group.

“BP had years to improve its business ethics and is paying the price for its inaction,” Amey said.

On November 15, BP Finance Director Brian Gilvary told investors on a conference call that any blanket ban could force the company to rethink its entire U.S. business.

The Justice Department says it intends to prove in a court case set to get underway in February 2013 that BP was grossly negligent under the Clean Water Act, a claim the company has adamantly denied.fuel supplier.

LOS ANGELES - A strike by clerical workers shut down terminals at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach on Wednesday after other workers refused to cross picket lines at the nation’s busiest combined cargo complex, officials said.

Seven of eight terminals at the Port of Los Angeles were shut down by the action, along with three of six terminals at the neighboring Port of Long Beach, officials at the facilities said.

The strike is the largest work stoppage at the ports in a decade, but its effects on the movement of goods could ultimately be limited if workers return soon. Many goods destined for sale in the holiday shopping season have already moved through the ports.

Longshore clerks at the ports are in a dispute with terminal operators over staffing issues.

The clerks, represented by a unit of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) Local 63, took to the picket line on Wednesday, and other key personnel such as crane operators also represented by the ILWU have refused to cross picket lines.

Stephen Berry, lead negotiator for port operators the Los Angeles/Long Beach Harbor Employers Association, said the strike marks “a dangerous escalation” in his group’s ongoing dispute with the union representing the clerks.

He added that if the strike continues “the negative effects on jobs and the economy will be felt nationwide.”

Most of the goods for sale in the holiday season have already moved through the ports, said Art Wong, a spokesman for the Port of Long Beach.

“The goods will be here, and they’ll move whenever they resolve this, so hopefully it will be very quickly,” he said.

The clerks say the Harbor Employers Association wants to outsource jobs they currently handle. The association counters the union wants them to hire unneeded workers.

The strike is the largest shutdown at the combined ports since 2002, said Phillip Sanfield, spokesman for the Port of Los Angeles.

The Port of Los Angeles is the largest U.S. container port by volume, and last year goods valued a combined $273 billion passed through the facility.

Indonesia green lights Russia’s Sukhoi jet to fly

JAKARTA ? Indonesia has certified a Russian-made passenger jetliner as safe to fly in the country six months after the same model crashed into a volcano during a demonstration flight, an official said Wednesday.

The Sukhoi Superjet-100 was deemed airworthy last week by the country’s general directorate of civil aviation, said Transportation Ministry spokesman Bambang Ervan.

The certification was based on a thorough validation process and has nothing to do with the crash investigation that’s still ongoing, he said.

“It was granted after a careful validation process, which found the type has met all required standards,” Ervan said.

In May, a Sukhoi Superjet-100 crashed into Mount Salak, a dor-

mant Indonesian volcano, during a demonstration flight to impress potential buyers, killing all 45 people aboard.

The fish processing waste is treathen to contaminate the sea

The shed of boiled fish processing at Kusamba village, Dawan, makes the potential of local fisheries still survive. However, the shed begins to give forth serious environmental impact. Its waste is discharged into the sea so that it often triggers a protest from fishermen. Local fishermen hope the waste of fish boiling can be channeled into septic tank so as not to contaminate the environment.

Previously, the waste had been complained by one of the local fisherman group leaders, I Wayan Suartika. He once conveyed the impact of the waste on the fishermen’s catches at Kusamba. At that time, Suartika alleged the waste caused the decline in the catch of local fishermen. The waste was considered to contaminate the sea so that no fish were stuck in the fishing nets when going to sea.

As field observation of Bali Post on Wednesday (Nov 28), the waste of fish boiling was indeed flowed into the sea. One of the Kusamba residents who boiled fish at the location, Dewa Ayu Rai, admitted it. Every single processing, she could produce 400 baskets containing ten fish.

The fish that had passed through boiling process was sold at higher price. “A fish bought from fisherman at IDR 1,300 was sold for IDR 15,000 to IDR 25,000 per basket containing ten fish. The boiled fish is then sold to traditional markets in Bangli, Badung, Gianyar to Menanga in Rendang, Karangasem,” she said.

A former fisherman at Kusamba now having profession to tow

a fishing boat, Nengah Mandri, said last Wednesday the request to make septic tank to hold the waste from the shed had been delivered a long time by related parties or those who had done a research in the boiled fish shed.

Of that number, 50 people were categorized into large boiled fish maker (yielding over ten baskets) and the remaining was classified into medium and small ones. Within a day, they could work for 12 hours depending on the fish supply.

The fish boiling shed is now only relying on the fish supply from Karangasem because Kusamba fishermen have long suffered a famine. As consequence, many Kusamba fishermen are now looking for another job. The boiled fish makers are charged a levy of IDR 300 per basket of fish and cleaning up service at IDR 7,000 per month.

QUITO - WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is suffering from a chronic lung ailment that could worsen at any time and is being checked regularly by doctors, the Andean country’s ambassador to Britain said on Wednesday. Assange, 41, whose website angered the United States by releasing thousands of secret diplomatic cables, has been holed up inside Ecuador’s embassy in London since June to avoid extradition to Sweden for questioning over rape and sexual assault allegations. Assange has denied any wrongdoing.

Zippers and “Bo-flakes” deck the White House Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON — “Bo-flakes” featuring the first dog and ornaments fashioned from zippers are among the new twists on traditional favorites at the White House this Christmas season. First lady Michelle Obama unveiled this year’s decorations before an appreciative crowd of military families Wednesday, then spent some time doing holiday crafts with military kids.

The theme for this year’s decorations is “Joy to All,” but first dog Bo seems to steals the show. There are 40 “Bo-flake” ornaments throughout the White House that feature cutout images of the dog.

There’s a life-size replica of the dog, with a string of lights in his mouth, in the East Garden Room. And there’s an outsized statue of the Portuguese water dog next to the 300-pound (136kilogram) gingerbread house in the State Dining Room.

Mrs. Obama said that reflects Bo’s high standing at the White House. “He’s almost as big as the house,” she declared. “He is such a huge personality.” Visitors also will get a Bo bookmark that sends them on a scavenger hunt for “Bo-ornaments” stashed in eight rooms.

Bo himself made an appearance during Wednesday’s festivities, sporting a jingle bell collar, and was quickly swarmed by young guests.

This year’s decorations include lots of handmade items that could easily be done at home, including patriotic wreaths and ornaments wrapped in red, white and blue yarn to fit with

Mrs. Obama’s emphasis on supporting military families.

The gargantuan gingerbread house, however, is not a feat for amateurs to attempt: It contains more than 175 pounds of gingerbread and modified gingerbread and more than 50 pounds (22 kilograms) of chocolate. Pastry chef Bill Yosses mixed up a combination of wheat, rye and white-flour gingerbread that mimics the color of the sandstone house prior to 1798, when the house was first painted white.

More than 90,000 visitors are expected to pass through the White House this holiday season. Executive chef Cristeta Comerford said she’s drawing on the recipes in Mrs. Obama’s gardening book, “American Grown,” as she prepares food for all the guests. The treats will include sweet potato quick bread, green beans with almonds and a winter salad featuring fennel.

The massive decorating job — there are 54 live Christmas trees in the White House — comes together in just five days, with the help of 85 volunteers from around the country.

“The ideal UMP rate for Bali is equal to that of Jakarta which was fixed at IDR2.2 million per month,” FNPBI chairman for Bali Ikhsan Tantowi said here on Wednesday.

He expressed hope the regional minimum wage increase in Bali should not follow the way it was raised in the past where the increase was only at hundreds of rupiah range.

Ikhsan said that the hike which was too small could not balance the increase in the prices of daily necessities which continued to increase.

“We hope the governor and the related parties would be aware of this fact so that they would be able to fix an ideal amount of regional minimum wage level in accordance with decent living cost,” he said.

Ikhsan said there was other problem that needed to be given attention to, namely the fixing of minimum wages based on sectoral basis. So far, the minimum wages were fixed with a uniform rate while it should not be like that.

Dormant, headquarters museum of Ngurah Rai almost collapses Tabanan (Bali Post)—

Commitment of Tabanan Regency to historical heritage is worth questioning. As evidence, the headquarters museum of Gusti Ngurah Rai at Munduk Malang, Dalang village, East Selemadeg, is in very poor condition. The roof has broken and almost collapses, even the door has been fragile and the key has vanished.

Condition of the floor is also unkempt and filled with dust. More ironically, the photos of Gusti Ngurah Rai and his troops were left rusty. Meanwhile, the miniature of Ngurah Rai sculpture and his men look disheveled and dusty.

Damages to the General Headquarters (MBO) monument of the People’s Struggle Council of the RI Lesser Sunda have long taken place.

However, it has never been touched by a single improvement project.

“This museum has started to badly damage since the past five years, where many roofs have fallen because of rain,” said Ida Bagus Putu Madya, 63, a resident who lives next to the museum, Wednesday (Nov 28). More sadly, its wall also

starts to be mossy. Being unlocked, it is often used by children or wild dogs to play. IB Putu Madya added that such condition made the museum look vile.

Karangasem Hospital does not have a radiologist after Handojo has retired. As a result, patients in Karangasem are confused because they must go to Denpasar to get X-ray service. It was revealed by a member of Commission D of the Karangasem House, Iluh Purnaminingsih, Wednesday (Nov 28).

She said to receive many complaints from families accompanying patients to Karangasem Hospital because they did not obtain complete services. “Many patients complained because they could not get X-ray service,” said Purnaminingsih. Buleleng Regency through the Culture and Tourism Agency takes another way to promote local tourism potential.

Within two days, the agency held a screening of the film Rumah di Seribu Ombak (House on a Thousand Waves) at the hall of the Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha), Singaraja.

The Head of the Buleleng Culture and Tourism Agency, Ketut Warkadea, accompanied by Art Section Head, Wayan Sujana, in his office on Wednesday (Nov 28) said the film would be played on Saturday (Dec 1) and Sunday (Dec 2).

As scheduled, the film would be screened for two times. On the first day, the agency would invite the officials in the Buleleng Regency, leadership and legislators of the Buleleng House.

After that, the screening on the follow-

ing day targeted the line ups of pupils, students, and general public. Before the screening, it would be filled with introductions to some actors getting involved in the film.

Introduction to the actors of the film was ascertained to be eagerly awaited because some actors were the natives to Buleleng such as Tutik Kusumawadini, a legislator, and a little actor who had enough talent. According to the Head of Culture and Tourism Agency, Warkadea, screening of the film was intended to promote the tourism in Buleleng.

Moreover, the film lasting for 105 minutes was shot at several tourist attractions in Buleleng such as Lovina, Gitgit and elsewhere. In addition, the film also tells about cultural acculturation and genuine friendship despite coming from different religions and beliefs. (kmb)

“Arrival intensity of the fuel-conveying vessel is quite often, namely on average of two and three days. It is to maintain the fuel stability of the availability in Bali,” Iin said.

Iin said the fuel distribution to Bali Island so far was carried out through two entrances, namely depot at Manggis, Karangasem that did not only meet the needs in Bali but also the needs in West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara up to Timor Leste. Besides, it was also distributed through Pesanggaran Depot in Denpasar. The fuel would be further distributed by 67 tank trucks of Pertamina to 180 gas stations across Bali.

“In Bali, the condition is conducive enough and no scarcity happens as in other regions. Bali is different where there are no long lines. It is our collective duty to maintain because Bali is a tourist destination. Hopefully, it will be secure until this year end,” Iin said. (kmb27)

DENPASAR - Sales Area Manager of Pertamina Retail Fuel Marketing for Region V Bali-Nusa Tenggara, Iin Febrian, claimed that fuel stock was relatively secure until the end of 2012. Therefore, his party has asked all the fuel users in order not to have to worry about the availability of supplies.

“We do everything possible to maintain the community stability associated with the fuel fulfillment. It can be ascertained that fuel stock in Bali is secure,” said Iin Febrian in Denpasar.

According to Iin, the fuel stock in Bali had no constraints, as happened in some regions beyond Bali. Quota of the subsidized fuel for Bali in 2012 reached 767,038 kiloliters (KL) for Premium, while 224,155

KL for diesel fuel. The amount was predicted to suffice until the end of the year and even the realization could exceed about one percent.

“Fuel quota in Bali experiences no reduction, so that it is secure until the end of 2012.

However, the decline is vulnerable to happen because of entering holiday season. We estimate the realization of subsidized fuel consumption until the end

of 2012 exceeds one percent of the quota,” Iin said.

Iin explained the subsidized fuel stock of Bali so far reached 28,500 KL of Premium and 25,000 KL of diesel fuel and would suffice up to 20 days.

Meanwhile, the consumption of subsidized fuel in Bali averagely reached 2,500 KL of Premium per day and 750 KL of diesel fuel per day.

The action done by the late Desak Gede Raka Nadha was truly great especially during her time fighting for Indonesian Independence with I Gusti Ngurah Rai. In 1945, Desak Raka was assigned in the Red Cross along with other volunteers.

The fight by Desak Raka was started when she joined with few other women to established Kediri Women Association (Pewake) during the time of Japan colonialism. After Japan surrender, she was assigned by Debes and Mr. Putih to investigate the weapon storage of the Japanese.

However, it didn’t give any great result. Then, Desak Raka was assigned to build public kitchen and spread the word about Indonesia Independence to the inhabitants of Kerambitan Village.

The situation is getting worst when NICA patrolled in the area.

Her family was forced to go to Munduk Malang and joined I Gusti Ngurah Rai to fight. Ngurah Rai established his headquarter called MBO of Indonesian Republic in Dalang Village, Eastern Selemadeg. The main duty of Desak Raka was to prepare the food for others.

From there, Desak Raka was following Ngurah Rai move from one place to another to avoid the attack by NICA. At that time, they run to Sengeketan, Bengkel Anyar until Pucan Sari Temple. At night, she treated the wounded soldier only accompanied by the light from a few torch.

Because the attack from NICA was increasing, so the troops must move again to the south towards Gempinis then to the house of Desak Raka in Munduk Malang, Dewa Nyoman jahen. They kept moving from one place to another until they met Gusti Sukra, the Head of the Youth Organization of Timpag.

Since then, Desak Raga continue to fight in the field of education and one of them by establishing SLUB which will become Sarawasti School.

In his life, Desak Raka joined many organizations.
