Horse competitors should kindly note access will not be granted to any part of the showground (with or without horses) until 12pm Saturday. Access will be permitted only upon production of competitor number(s), relevant vehicle pass plus wristbands. Every rider, handler and groom must wear and clearly display a wristband. Passes are strictly non transferable. Competitor numbers must also be clearly displayed at all times. Any contravention of these rules will result in being refused admission and entries being cancelled without refund.

These classes are affiliated to the Retraining of Racehorses (RoR). All those entering horses and/or participating in RoR classes at this Show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and Regulations from time to time in force. All entries must be registered with the RoR and include their competition registration number on entry form and have raced in GB. RoR prizes will not be awarded to RoR qualifiers with numbers forward of two or less, however qualification for the final will stand.
The winners of classes E173 & E174 will go forward to the QuitKick Supreme Ridden Horse Championship, to be held on Monday afternoon in the Main Ring.
Riders must be 15 years or over on the 1st January 2023. Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, pelham or simple double bridle with a plain cavesson noseband. Horses should be plaited. The first three will go forward to the Championship at Hickstead in 2024. All entries MUST be registered with the RoR and include their competition registration number on entry form and have RACED in GB. All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and Regulations from time to time in force. Please be aware that the Show will split the class on the horse’s last run in a race (NH or Flat) or will provide 2 ride judges should the entries exceed 20. Please include race details in notes section of entry. Competitors must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap. Racing injuries and blemishes WILL NOT BE IGNORED in this series.
Riders must be 15 years or over on the 1st January 2023. Horses to be ridden in any suitable bridle and should be plaited. All entries must be registered with RoR and HAVE raced in GB or been IN TRAINING. Racing injuries and blemishes ARE IGNORED in this series. The first three go forward to the final at the Jockey Club RoR National Championships, Aintree in August 2024. The judge will not ride. Horses may be stripped for conformation at the discretion of the judge. Competitors must wear a safety/kitemark hard hat with a chinstrap. All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and Regulations from time to time in force. Class E174 will be judged 50% jumping, 20% style while jumping and performance and 30% awarded for show, manners and suitability to be retrained.
Jumping to be judged: 8 rustic jumps 3 foot (90cm) to 3 foot 3 inches (1m) with a maximum spread of 95cm The following points to be deducted at the end of each jumping round:
- 10 points to be deducted for a knock down.
- 15 points to be deducted for a refusal. 20 points for second refusal.
- Elimination for third refusal, fall or error of course.
Class returns without boots and judged for an individual show/conformation. In some classes, at the judge’s discretion, horses might be asked to do a ‘show’ following their jumping without leaving the ring. This is often the case with a large number in the class.

Show to include the following movements: walk, trot, canter showing change of leg, extended canter (gallop), halt and stand, walk off on long rein. The Barnaby Jones Memorial Trophy (T139) will be awarded to the winner of this class, kindly presented by Mrs Alison Harris.
The sole criterion for this class is the elegance of the picture presented by horse/pony and rider, and the way of going of the horse/pony. Safe tack must be used. Detailed inspection of the rider’s period costume is not required. Fancy dress is not permitted. Competitors are required to walk, trot and canter. No individual show is required but the judge may ask small groups of 3 or 4 riders to give short displays. Juniors must wear hats to current British Safety Standards or above for this class. Adult riders not wearing such hats do so at their own risk.
Competitors should produce brief notes about their costume for the commentator when submitting their entry.

The Royal International Horse Show Qualifier 2024: Classes E160 - E161 are qualifiers for The Royal International Horse Show. The first prize winner will qualify to compete at the final. To be eligible for Light Horse Brood Mare classes, mares must have foal at foot or a relevant certificate of pregnancy for the following year, which may be inspected at the show. To be eligible to enter Light Horse Foal classes the foal must be at least 4 weeks old on the day of the show.
SHBGB Day Tickets
Competitors may compete on a day ticket at £36 and may have a maximum of two day tickets per season at £36 per show. Each day ticket is valid for one show and it covers the owner and rider membership together with horse registration/over stamp for that show.
SHBGB Broodmare Premium
Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain offers one Broodmare Premium in Class E180. The Premium will only be awarded if there are a minimum of three mares forward. The Premium will take the form of a £100 Service Voucher awarded at the Judge’s discretion to their selection from the monetary prize winners, to be used towards the cost of covering the mare by any SHB (GB) Graded Stallion or Life Approved Premium Stallion. The Service Voucher may be used in either of the two years following the year of that award. The owner must be, or become, a fully paid member. No mare shall take more than one award per year. Grade I and II mares are eligible to be transferred into the SHB(GB) Stud Book.

Horses must be registered with the BSHA, Sport Horse Breeding (GB) or The Showing Register and all riders, owners and producers must be Members of the BSHA, Sport Horse Breeding (GB) or The Showing Register. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry form. Any horse which has qualified as a Grade A Showjumper or Advanced Event Horse as at 1st January in the current year is not eligible to compete in Working Hunter classes. Both classes will be jumped over the same course and height. When judging the Championship judges will use the marks they have already allocated as a guide. Marks must be awarded in the following way: PHASE 1 (60 MARKS) A: Jumping Points 40 Marks; B: Style while jumping 20 Marks; PHASE 2 (40 MARKS) C: Conformation 20 Marks; D: Ride 20 Marks. In the event of equality the conformation mark from phase 2 will take precedence, followed by the ride mark and then the style mark. Fences will not exceed 1.14m (3ft 9 ins) in height, there should be a minimum of 8 fences and a maximum of 12 fences. The course must contain a combination and should contain a water tray. This class will be judged in two parts: part one (jumping) will be judged first, without a jump off. All clear rounds and any other horses the judges may require will go forward to the next part. A rider can ride up to two horses in the jumping phase but then must select one horse to take forward into the ride and conformation section if so required (no change of rider is allowed).
Horse of the Year Show – Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain Working Hunter of the Year
Classes E138 & E139 are Horse of the Year Show Qualifiers, all data given upon entry of this class is provided to Grandstand Media Ltd. and stored on the Grandstand Entries System. For full policy details please visit www. grandstandentries.com. These classes are qualifying classes for the Horse of the Year Show, NEC, Birmingham 4th - 8th October 2023. Qualification will not pass below third place. The highest placed unqualified horse within the top 3 of the Championship will qualify for the Horse of the Year Show. If entries warrant the Andalusian/Lusitano will be judged separately. Not open to Arab horses who have their own classes. All competitors entering these classes are requested to submit commentary notes (at time of entry) providing information about the horse and its breed.
The British Association for the Purebred Spanish Horse Ltd kindly offers a rosette to the highest placed Spanish horse.
The Haflinger Society of GB offers a special rosette to the highest placed Haflinger owned or ridden by a member of the society.
A British Appaloosa Society Card of Merit will be awarded to the highest placed BApS member with a BApS registered horse in Foreign Breed classes, in hand and ridden. BApS Membership cards must be shown in the ring to claim your award and the card of Merit must be signed by the Judge. This is a qualifying show for the British Arabian Championships to be held on 9th & 10th September 2023 at Onley Ground Equestrian Complex, CV23 8AJ. Class E190: Pure bred Arabian

Stallion, mare (with or without foal at foot) or gelding 4 years and over. The winner of this class will be awarded a special rosette by the Arab Horse Society.
The Arab Horse Society offers a best gelding rosette to the highest placed pure bred gelding, if not the winner of this class. The Arab Horse Society will award a special rosette to the highest placed foal in this class.

This show is affiliated to The Coloured Horse & Pony Society (UK). Affiliation Nop 23-091. Both owner and the rider/exhibitor need not be a membver of CHAPS (UK) nor must the horse or pony be registered with CHAPS (UK) to compete. However, in order to quualify for the CHAPS UK Championship Show 2024, both Owner and Rider/Exhibitor need to be a current Showing Member and have a valid Qualifier card. Members should apply to CHAPS (UK) for the appropriate Qualifier card. The CHAPS (UK) 2023 Championship Show will be held on 10th-12th August 2023. This Show is a qualifier for The CHAPS (UK) 2024 Championship Show. The following classes are CHAPS (UK) Qualifiers: E73, E74, E76 & E77. For full rulings and information on competition/ qualification, please refer to the CHAPS (UK) Members’ Handbook or visit www.chapsuk.com for rulings. Only Skewbalds/Piebalds may compete these classes.
This competition is open to mares, geldings and CHAPS (UK) graded stallions, four years old or over, to be registered in, and complying with the showing requirements of, the main body of the stud books of the Coloured Horse and Pony Society CHAPS (UK) or the Traditional Gypsy Cob Association (TGCA). Stallions are required to wear stallion discs in order to compete. All riders and owners must be Members of CHAPS (UK), The Showing Register or the TGCA. For height restricted exhibits a valid JMB number must be lodged with the respective society.
These classes will be run in accordance with the general rules as set out in the HOYS rulebook, a copy of which can be downloaded from www.hoys.co.uk, all data given upon entry of this class is provided to Grandstand Media Ltd. and stored on the Grandstand Entries System. Marks will be awarded in the following way:
Ride/Performance - 50 marks maximum
Conformation, Movement & Quality - 50 marks maximum
In the case of equality, the horse with the highest Ride/Performance mark will be deemed the winner. If there is still equality at this point then the judges’ decision will be final.
This class is a qualifying class for The Horse of the Year Show, NEC, Birmingham, 4th - 8th October 2023. Qualification will not pass below 5th place. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office. This class entitles eligible amateur combinations to earn points for the Premier Amateur League, with the opportunity of gaining a wild card place at HOYS 2023. CLASS RULES, REGULATIONS & QUALIFIERS
These classes are affiliated to the British Show Pony Society (BSPS). Ponies, owners and riders must be BSPS members before the date of the show to compete in the Heritage Supreme Classes. Competitors must be registered with the BSPS to compete in these classes. Classes will be judged under BSPS rules as per the 2023 BSPS Rule & Show Handbook. Riders must adhere to rule 43 in the 2023 BSPS Rulebook with regard to hat tagging and specification. Animals must be the correct height for the breed as laid down in the individual breed standards.
The BSPS New Horizon Plastics Heritage Ridden Championship
Open to 1st and 2nd prize-winners from classes E164 - E169. Animals must be placed to third in every Championship. The Champion will qualify for BSPS Supreme Heritage at London International Horse Show 2023. If the Champion has already qualified, the Reserve Champion will qualify. If the Champion and Reserve Champion have already qualified the third placed animal will qualify. 1st to 3rd prize winners of the individual classes (with the exception of the pony that has qualified), will qualify to compete at the SEMI-FINAL to be held at THE BSPS HERITAGE CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW, at Arena UK. (The qualification will not pass down the line).
The BSPS Roger’s Truck Services Ltd Challenge & The BSPS Binks Family Champion of Champions
These classes are also qualifiers for the BSPS Roger’s Truck Services Ltd Challenge, and ponies that have been placed 1st in open Heritage Classes will qualify for the BSPS Binks Family Champion of Champions.
The classes will be judged on a 50/50 marks system.

CLASS RULES, REGULATIONS & QUALIFIERS
These classes are affiliated and run under the rules of the Shetland Pony Breed Society Stud Book. These classes are confined to SPS-BS registered ponies. Ponies must be named on the entry form and will be named in the catalogue. Society rosettes will only be given to ponies registered with the Society or to foals eligible for registration. 3 year old fillies with foals at foot may not be shown. All foals must be a minimum of three weeks old on the day of the Show. In order to enter a stallion, entire males aged 4 years old and over must have an “S” Number and have been successfully through the SPS-BS stallion assessment prior to 2006 or the current SPS-BS voluntary veterinary examination. In-hand entire males 2 years and over are advised to display a stallion bridle badge. Children under 14 years old may not show colts (excluding foals) or entire males in In-hand classes. In the interests of safety, hard hats must be worn by all handlers aged 14 years or under in In-hand classes. Exhibitors should not kneel but remain standing while in the ring.
The Best Shetland Pony bred by an exhibitor living in Kent or Sussex will be awarded the Annwood Trophy (T40), kindly presented by Mr D W J O’Brien. The Nashes Shield (T49) will be awarded to the best black Shetland pony, bred by an exhibitor, kindly presented by Mr & Mrs J Church.
Class E45: Standard Shetland Yearling Ring 3, 3.15pm. Colt, filly or gelding.

Ponies must be aged 4 years old or over and must not exceed 122cm. Ponies entered may be of any breed but must be shown in a snaffle bridle. Lead rein to be attached to the noseband only.
Class E15: Local Lead Rein Pony

Riders to be aged over 4 years old. Riders must not have attained ther 9th birthday before 1st January in the current year. Each competitor in this class will be awarded a special rosette.

Class E17: Local Mini Ridden Championship

CLASS RULES, REGULATIONS & QUALIFIERS
This class is unaffiliated and open to all children aged 4-12 years old. The maximum height of ponies to be 128cm (12.2hh). All ponies to be ridden, leading reins will be permitted. This is not a fancy dress competition and ponies must not be “made up” to resemble a Thelwell Pony but must be presented in their natural condition.
If entries are sufficient, the class will be divided by pony height. This class is to give children whose ponies are not suitable for the in-hand or ridden classes a chance to compete in something other than the Mounted Fancy Dress.

The winner of this class will be awarded the Cecil Ramsey Challenge Trophy (T32), kindly presented by Mrs A Michelle Robinson in recognition of Mr Ramsey’s 20 years service as Hon. Secretary. The highest placed rider aged 12 years and under will be awarded The Homestall Cup (T86), kindly presented by the Moore Family.

Travelling Assistance
£45 travelling assistance will be awarded to exhibits that come forward in Heavy Horse classes E104, E107 and E114-E118. A maximum of 2 animals per owner will be eligible for travelling assistance, with only one amount allocated per animal.
Stabling
Heavy Horses will be stabled within the horsebox park, close to Ring 5. Stabling is available for Shires and Heavy Horse exhibitors at the rate of £70 per box per night, or £120 for two nights, and will be refunded after the Show providing that the animal came forward in their class. This entitles the exhibitor to use the stable from 6.00pm on the night of reservation until 6.00pm the following day. Stabling must be booked and paid for at the time of making entries. Bedding will not be provided.
Best Shod Heavy Horse
The competition, sponsored by The Worshipful Company of Farriers, will run concurrently with judging of the Shire Classes and Any Other Heavy Horse Breed classes.
Heavy Horse Parade
Please note the Heavy Horse Parade will take place in The Main Ring. All heavy horse exhibitors are warmly invited to take part in this parade.
Judge: Mr Adrian Devereux, Surrey
The competition, sponsored by The Worshipful Company of Farriers, will run concurrently with judging of the Shire classes and Any Other Heavy Horse Breed classes. The judge will examine each horse before or during the line-up for preliminary judging, taking into consideration:
a) The condition of the feet
b) The making (or preparation) and fitting of the shoes
c) The nailing and position of clips
Normal shoes and showing plates are equally acceptable, provided they are suitable for the horse. The best shod heavy horse in each class will go forward to the Heavy Horse Parade for final judging and presentations.
Prizes: 1st - The Worshipful Company of Farriers will award a rosette and an inscribed card to the winner in each class and a plaque to the overall winner. The Worshipful Company of Farriers will also award a plaque for the Registered Farrier responsible for the winning horse’s feet and shoeing.

Eversley Ridden Heavy Horse Championhip 2024
Open to horses 4 years old and over that are certified British bred and registered in the main Stud Books of
the Shire, Clydesdale, Suffolk or Percheron Society at the time of qualification. Part breds are not eligible. The horse must be entered in the name and ownership they are registered in. Qualification can be awarded to 3rd place if the winner and runner-up have previously qualified. If less than three horses are forward in the ring the award will not be presented.
QuitKick Supreme Ridden Horse Championship
The winner of class E104 will go forward to the QuitKick Supreme Ridden Horse Championship, held on Monday afternoon in the Main Ring. Stabling is available for this winner free of charge if required, please contact the Show Office to make arrangements.

CLASS RULES, REGULATIONS & QUALIFIERS
This class is unaffiliated and open to young persons aged between 12 - 18 years old. Mares and geldings, any age of any heavy horse breed.
The Shire Horse Society will once again be running the SHS Young Handler’s Accumulator Award in 2023. Points relative to placings will be awarded to those young handlers who are 2023 members of the Shire Horse Society. The winner will be announced at the end of the year. Points will be awarded to the top five, with points awarded as follows:- 1st-5 points, 2nd-4 points, 3rd- 3 points, 4th-2 points and 5th-1 point. The Champion Young Handler with the most points at the end of the year will win the trophy. Those taking part in the above should be Junior members of the Society and are able to join mid-season if they are not already members. Points will only count once membership is taken up and points will not be back dated. Junior memberships are £10 per annum and are open to those that have not attained their 18th birthday.

These classes are affiliated to the British Driving Society. Private Driving Classes are for horses and ponies any height, 4 years old or over, correctly and smartly harnessed to a sound, suitable and well-maintained traditional type vehicle, suitable for a competent whip to drive on the road, (commercial vehicles, hackney show wagons and pneumatic tyres not permitted). There will be no Road Drive. If sufficient entries are forward the classes will be divided (at the judge’s discretion). Exhibitors in all driving classes should ensure they are covered by third party insurance. Whips under the age of 18 must be accompanied in the vehicle by a competent and experienced adult groom over 18 years of age.
Horse of the Year Show 2023 – Harness Horse and Pony of the Year Championship.
Classes E91 - E93 are qualifiers for Horse of the Year Show, to be held on the 4th - 8th October 2023 at the NEC, Birmingham. The 1st & 2nd from each class will go through to the Championship, a qualifier for Harness Horse and Pony of the Year Championship. All data given upon entry of these classes is provided to Grandstand Media and stored on the Grandstand Entries System. For full policy details please visit www.grandstandentries.com. The qualification for the Harness Horse and Pony of the Year Championship will be awarded to the highest placed turnout, owned and driven by a member of the British Driving Society, in the championship down to 6th place, disregarding those already qualified. Victoria Food Company Open Private Driving Championship Qualifier.
The Harness Horse and Pony of the Year Champion will qualify for the Victoria Food Company Open Private Driving Grand Final. To be held on 9th - 10th September 2023 at Bury Farm Equestrian Centre, Suffolk. In the event that the Champion has already qualified, then the Reserve Champion to qualify. If the Reserve has also qualified, the rosette to be awarded back to the Champion. Once qualified, the horse, whip and vehicle may not be changed.

Pleasure Driving
Class E97 is open to newcomers to showing and not intended for those who show in Private Driving classes. Regular showing competitors are asked to respect this and entries for the Pleasure Driving class will not be accepted from those who enter our Private Driving classes.
Edenbridge & Oxted Show Equestrian Schedule 2023
To be judged on general cleanliness, safety of turnout, correct fitting of harness and vehicle suitability. To be judged: 15% vehicle suitability, fit and cleanliness; 15% harness suitability, fit and cleanliness; 70% driver and groom, horse/pony, way of going and suitability as a family pleasure animal. Competitors may, for example, be required to drive and halt between two pairs of cones and/or given other specific movements to execute in their show.
The essence of the class is the word ‘elegance’ and the winner will be the turnout which, in the opinion of the judge presents the most elegant effect. To include vehicle, horse, driver, passengers, etc. but above all the general impression. Attention may be paid to driver’s/passenger’s personal costume but fancy dress or period costume are not permitted. The object of this class is to establish which turnout presents the most pleasing picture and normal judging criteria does not apply. It is judged from a distance and vehicles are not closely inspected. To be driven at park pace.
Ring 5, 12.15pm
Open to horses, ponies, donkeys and mules aged 4 years old or over. Single, pair or tandem driven to a vehicle capable of seating 2 or more persons. Traditional and non-traditional vehicles are permitted.
The Nettlestead Baron Memorial Cup (T142) will be awarded to the winner of this class and kindly presented by Mrs Elcome. A bottle of champagne will be awarded to the best donkey or mule in a non-traditional vehicle in this class. This prize will be kindly presented by Mr Neil Burke.
Ring 5, to follow class E97
This class is designed to establish the most elegant turnout. Open to singles, pairs, multiples, 4 years old or over, to a traditional type vehicle. The George Freeman Challenge Cup (T112) will be awarded to the winner of this class, kindly presented by Mary Byers.

These classes are affiliated to and run under the rules of the British Donkey Society. These classes are open to all donkeys and all exhibitors whether they are members of the Donkey Breed Society or not. For the award of DBS rosettes the exhibit must be owned by a member of the DBS. DBS Certificates will be awarded to all Champion Donkeys at the DBS AGM held in November each year and special rosettes will be awarded by the DBS at the Annual Championship Show to the qualifying donkeys in attendance. Special DBS Rosettes will be presented in each class.

The In-Hand Champion Donkey at this show automatically qualifies for the relevant Championship at the DBS Annual Supreme Championship Show, provided it is owned by a member of the DBS. A Donkey may win more than one DBS Championship at Shows but will qualify only once for the DBS Supreme Championship Show. Where the In-hand Champion Donkey has previously qualified, the Reserve In-hand Champion Donkey will be deemed the Qualifier. If the Reserve Champion has also previously qualified, the judge will select another donkey from the In Hand Championship line up as the qualifier for the DBS Annual Supreme Championship Show.

Entries confined to Registered Horses to be ridden by Adult, Associate or Junior members in accordance with British Showjumping Rule 79 and Rule 82.19. No member shall allow a stallion for which he/she is responsible as an owner, lessee, authorised agent or rider to compete or be prepared to compete, in any showjumping competition without taking adequate precautions to ensure other members of the public are not put at risk of injury. Edenbridge & Oxted Show Equestrian Schedule 2023
Entries may be made online at www.edenbridge-show.co.uk or on a printed entry form and must be delivered or sent to the Show Office, with the entry fee, on or before the close of entries. If known, the name and address of the breeder of each entry should be mentioned, as well as the year in which it was born.
1. All entry forms must be accurately filled up and signed by the Exhibitor or their agent. An Exhibitor omitting to give information asked for on the entry form will be liable to have their entry rejected.
2. Every Exhibitor shall prove the correctness of their entry to the satisfaction of the Committee when called upon to do so. Failing to furnish the required proof may result in prohibition from exhibiting, any prize awarded may be withheld and the award cancelled.
3. It is the competitor’s responsibility to ensure that they are eligible to compete in each class. No entry will be substituted after the closing date of entries.
4. Entry fees will be forfeited if the animal does not come forward for their class without a valid reason.
5. A refund will be considered if the animal is medically unable to compete. A refund request will need to completed, in writing, within 1 month of the date of the Show. All wristbands and passes must be returned to the Show Office, unused. A vet’s certificate must be supplied with the refund request. Refunds will only be considered after the Show.
6. In all classes the Committee reserves the right of rejection of the entry of any person and also the right of withholding any prize or prizes awarded.
7. Riders or handlers must be a minimum age of 4 years or over.
8. Entry fees for classes that are qualifiers for the Horse of the Year Show include a £16 HOYS contribution. For further information, please visit

9. To be eligible to make entries at Members’ rates an Exhibitor must have paid the annual subscription for the current year, 2023. Members must have paid their membership prior to making their entry to ensure that they are eligible for Members’ rates.
10. The Committee reserves the right to restrict the number of entries in any class.
11. Competitors in all classes must ensure they have sufficient grooms in attendance, especially if multiple entries are made.
12. Competitors and their associated party must have the correct and valid passes in order to access the Showground. Passes are only valid for the day of the competitor’s entered class. Where possible, passes will be sent electronically, and it is the responsibility of the competitor to ensure that they bring their passes to the event.
13. Exhibitors will be allocated 2 passes for the first horse entered, and 1 additional pass for each horse thereafter. A maximum of 6 passes will be allocated to each Exhibitor. Driving entries will receive 1 additional pass per entry.

14. Parking
Horse boxes & trailers will require a pass for the Horse Box Park.
Supporting cars will not be permitted in the Horse Box Park and must park in the public car parks.
15. Stabling
Stabling will not be available for competitors resident
in local postcodes. This includes all Surrey, Sussex and London postcodes, and all Kent postcodes with the exception of the CT area. Stabling can be booked for competitors travelling from postcodes outside the areas listed above and for competitors in the Heavy Horse and Coaching sections (postcode restriction does not apply and stabling costs are refunded after the show for horses forward).
Horses and ponies must be competing on the day after the night booked for stabling – ie, if entered in Monday classes, stabling will only be permitted for Sunday night. Horses and ponies may not stay overnight unless accommodated in the official show stables.
Competitors with stables must provide their own bedding, feed and associated equipment and must ensure the stable is cleared completely before they leave. Stables cannot be accessed until 6pm of the night booked and must be cleaned and vacated by 6pm on the following day.
All stabling must be booked and paid for at the time of making entries. Competitors must report to the Stable Manager upon arrival for allocation of stabling. There is no opportunity to hire stables on the day. Horses eligible to compete in the QuitKick Supreme Ridden Horse Championship will have stabling provided free of charge for the Sunday night, if required. Please advise the Show Office if stabling is required.
16. Animals
If any animal shall be proved to be suffering from any contagious or infectious disease at the time it is sent to the Show, the Exhibitor thereof shall indemnify the Society against all or any claims for losses sustained.
17. Competitors in charge of animals must be subject to the orders of the Stewards, and must be in attendance during the whole period of the Show.
18. Equine Influenza & Tetanus
All equines arriving onto the showground must be accompanied by their equine passport. Spot checks
will be carried out by a vet. All equines over six months of age must be fully vaccinated against Equine Influenza and Tetanus. Animals must have been vaccinated to comply with the requirements of the primary course (1st vaccination followed by the 2nd vaccination, between 21 - 92 days later), followed by the first booster (150 - 215 days). Animals may compete having received the primary course and prior to the 1st booster, but not within 7 days of receiving a vaccination dose. Animals arriving at the showground must have been vaccinated within 6 months before the show, but not less than 7 days of arrival.
19. The Show prohibits the administration and use of tranquilisers or other substances which may affect behaviour or performance of any animal at Show. The rules of the affiliated Breed Societies will be upheld in respect of the administration of forbidden substances to show exhibits and The Show permits such societies to carry out any tests or inspections provided for in their rules. In the event of any such test proving positive, societies may be expected to take disciplinary action in accordance with their rules. Exhibitors will disqualified from their class and placing and may be liable to pay for any additional costs that are incurred by The Show. The Show reserves the right to sample horses, ponies or donkeys independently from the breed societies.
20. Prizes & Judging
All horses, ponies & donkeys receiving a prize, reserve or commended rosette will be required (under penalty of disqualification) to be ready to parade when required.
21. Trophies presented at the Show to be held for one year.
22. No one will be allowed in the ring while the judges are engaged upon their awards, except those who have duties to perform.
23. The judges may withhold any prize where there
is evident want of merit. No second prize will be awarded unless there are at least three entries in a class and two individual exhibitors, and no third prize unless there are at least five entries.
With the exception of Young Handler classes, all prize money will be paid electronically to the bank account nominated when entering a class. Prize money will be paid within 1 month of the Show. Entrants are advised to take care to ensure accuracy when completing their entry to avoid delay in payment of prize money. There is no alternative method of payment.
25. Any class may be cancelled or, where appropriate, amalgamated unless there are at least three entries.
26. A class is deemed to have commenced when an animal enters the ring, if the judge is then present in the ring. If the judge is not present then the class shall commence when the judge enters the ring. Exhibits will not be allowed into the ring after the ponies/horses have been asked to trot.
27. Judges named in this Schedule have been appointed to act as such in events as indicated. The Committee reserves the right to appoint substitutes for any who may be unavoidably prevented from attending and all entries are accepted upon that understanding.
28. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to note the name of the judge appointed for the classes they wish to enter and are advised, in the interests of all concerned, not knowingly to enter an animal bred by, previously owned by or with any connections to the judge appointed.
29. The decision of the judge is final.
For those with stables booked and wishing to camp, a camping/caravan permit can be purchased when making entries or at a later date. A camping pass
will need to be purchased for a tent, motorhome or caravan that will take up additional space in the Horse Box Car Park. Passes can be purchased for £10 and are valid for staying on site between 26th & 28th August 2023. All horses staying overnight must be accommodated in official Show stables (see regulation 15).
31. Use of data
Data given upon entry of any classes to Edenbridge & Oxted Agricultural Show will be retained and used to provide you with reasonable information about your participation and about the event in general. It may also be provided to various and relevant societies for checking eligibility, for publication of results and may be published in the Show’s catalogue, social media and website.
By providing data you are giving permission for that data to be stored on the Show’s systems and databases. The Show’s Privacy Notice can be found on our website at www.edenbridge-show.co.uk.
By entering a competition class you permit the Show Organisers to use your name and photographs of your exhibit in our publicity material. This could be online, in print and could be supplied to third party media organisations for publication.
All objections must be made in writing to the Show Office within one hour of the termination of the judging of the classes in question on the day of the Show; such objection to be accompanied by a deposit of £5.00, this deposit to be forfeited in the event of the objection proving unfounded and/or frivolous.
In the event of an Exhibitor, or anyone connected with an Exhibitor, being guilty of improper or abusive behaviour towards their animal, any Official of the Society or the general public, then the Chairman, Chief Steward or Show Director shall have the power to order the offender to leave the showground and

recommend that the Council shall refuse that person’s entries for future shows. Should an Exhibitor be aggrieved at such action they may lodge an objection in writing. Such objections shall be considered by a panel of not less than 3 members of the Society appointed by the Chairman or Vice-Chairman and their decision shall be final.
All of the Stewards and Committees are volunteers who dedicate their time to organising and running the Edenbridge & Oxted Agricultural Show. The Show operates a zero tolerance approach to abuse of our volunteers and kindly asks that you respect them during the event.
The Organisers of this show have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the Organisers and all the Officials and Stewards.
35. Neither the Society nor its officers or servants shall be liable for personal injury or loss of or damage to any property whatsoever happening to or arising out of the presence of any person at the Society’s Show and caused by the wrongful act or omission of the Society, its officers or servants, and it is a condition of entry to the Show that any person visiting the Show, including any Exhibitors, competitors or their servants shall indemnify the Society, its officers or servants against all liabilities, claims, proceedings, costs and demands arising out of such act or omission. The Show requires all exhibitors and competitors to hold third party liability insurance for the duration of the event.
36. Force majeure: Whilst every effort will be made to ensure the event takes place as planned, if natural disaster, extreme weather, act of God, war, act or threat of terror, civil commotion, fire, disease or death of a monarch should prevent the Show from running
or substantially curtail its activities the Show shall not be liable for any losses incurred and reserves the right to refuse refund of fees.
37. Failure to comply with any of the foregoing regulations could result in prize money being withheld, possible disqualification and refusal of entries in future years.
38. Should any questions arise not provided for in the foregoing rules and regulations, the same must be referred to the Committee, whose decision shall be final.
