At first, the MYEO groups were hosted in our EO KENYA chapter group, but then it dawned on us that if members from outside our chapter wanted to join, Sachna would have to fight off the “group joining requests” like tsetse flies on a walking safari while wearing dark blue colours.

Since I was very young, my dad and I would watch the recap of the Paris-Dakar on the local French telly. Seeing those guys going bonkers on those, ehm, non-roads was just a dream and filled me with excitement!
Things happen for a reason, and in their own time. Sometimes it takes years for them to make sense.
Well, I met Basel from the Saudi East Chapter. We were chatting together at lunch during our MEPA RC meeting (yeah, I’m doing that, too)… and I shared how I would love to see Dakar as a spectator.
Later that day, during the launch event for MLS in Bahrain
(Board members, you all missed out btw—it was FAB!), he came to me and said,
“I want to be your co-champion, and I have someone who can handle all the logistics; plus, a friend of mine is participating.
” Boom, shack-a-lak, a-what the people them want!! (Apache Indian, 1 Love!)
The rest is history!
