Kenya members,
I know it feels like the new year has already begun but the current board is still in place until 30th June. We have been ready for this for a while.
When I decided to put myself forward for this role, I made a commitment to myself: that if this chapter was going to have a year worth remembering, it would require real preparation, not good intentions. So we started in January. We went to GLC in Ireland. We ran a pulse survey that reached nearly three-quarters of you. We held an externally facilitated Strategy Summit in May. We built a three-year Long Term Plan. And today, what you’re looking at is Year 1 of that plan — not a starting point, but a continuation of something already in motion.
I have been a member of EO Kenya long enough to know what it looks like when this community is working at its best. I’ve been Forum Moderator. I’ve been Member Engagement Chair. I know the moments that change people — and I know the friction that gets in the way. This board was built with all of that in mind.
A note from our Incoming President
Our three priorities this year are Member Experience, Net Growth, and Operational Excellence. But underneath the language, what we’re really committing to is simple: that by the time we hand over to the next board, every member in this chapter should be able to say they felt more connected to EO than ever before.

Past Event: The Family Carrier
At our recent EO learning event, The Family Carrier, facilitated by Joe Okello of the Association of Family Business Enterprises, members explored a role that exists in many families and businesses, yet is rarely discussed openly.
A “carrier” is often the person who quietly holds responsibility, absorbs pressure, and becomes the steady point around which others rely. Not a hero, and not a victim, but someone carrying a weight that is often unseen by those around them. What resonated throughout the session was just how common this experience is. Many leaders recognised themselves, or someone close to them, in the conversations that followed.
Perhaps the most important takeaway was this: the goal is not to create stronger carriers. The goal is to build healthier systems where the load is shared, support is available, and no one person feels solely responsible for carrying the burden. A thought-provoking and highly relevant session for anyone navigating the complexities of family, business, and leadership. Be sure to catch future learning events hosted by the chapter.
