Last Thursday, EO members gathered at Capital Club for an inspiring session with Pierre de Plessis. The event drew a strong turnout of 50 members, all eager to explore the theme “In Praise of Masks” and its connection to imposter syndrome.
Pierre shared powerful insights on the liminal space — that uncertain, transitional zone between who we were and who we are becoming. It is often marked by insecurity, chaos, and the familiar voice of imposter syndrome. Yet, he reminded us that this uncomfortable in-between is also where the greatest opportunity for growth and transformation lies.
Through the metaphor of masks, Pierre highlighted how stepping into new roles and identities — even when they feel uncomfortable — is part of our evolution. Rather than fearing imposter syndrome, we can reframe it as a signal that we are stretching, evolving, and moving into new possibilities.
The session left members with a resonant message: embracing the tension of becoming is not weakness, but the very path to courage, creativity, and reinvention
Last weekend the EO Kenya Board and Moderators had the privilege of attending the Chapter Leadership Academy (CLA), brilliantly run by the legendary George Gan of EO Malaysia. CLA is known as the “little sister” to the Regional Leadership Academy (RLA)—one of EO’s most sought-after learning experiences— and this weekend proved why.
Hosted at the iconic Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club, the program kicked off in Nanyuki with a special visit to BATUK, the British Army Training Unit Kenya. Here, senior officers shared insights into military leadership and how their styles are adapting to a rapidly changing world. It was a powerful and fitting introduction to the weekend.
From there, we dove headfirst into three days of connection, leadership modules, and transformative learning. The sessions pushed us to go deeper—embracing “connection before content,” challenging our leadership mindsets, and equipping us with tools to grow as individuals and as EO leaders.
It was a phenomenal experience, and every participant walked away inspired and re-energized. For many, this was just the beginning—a stepping stone toward attending the full RLA in the coming years.
If ever there was proof of the value of stepping up into EO leadership, this was it.
Now it’s your turn. EO thrives when members step forward to serve. If you’ve ever thought about joining the board or taking on a leadership role, this is the moment. Not only will you grow as a leader, but you’ll also shape the future of our chapter. Step up, raise your hand, and be part of the team driving EO Kenya forward. LETS LEAD FROM THE FRONT.
We are thrilled to present the EO MEPA Year Book, TRIBE!
The new term is already underway, and TRIBE is the perfect way to kick it off. Inside, you’ll relive the highlights, celebrate the wins, and see the faces shaping our region right now. It’s more than a book - it’s a reminder of the powerful community you’re part of. So if you’ve been meaning to share EO with a friend or colleague, this is your resource!
If your story isn’t in these pages, don’t worry, there’s always next time. Start planning now to ensure your achievements are featured in the next edition, where your peers will look for inspiration and connection.
A huge thank you to all our outgoing and incoming Communication Chairs and
Chapter Staff, your hard work makes this possible.
We can’t wait to connect with you at Unleashed and MLS. If you’re ready to grow your influence, don’t forget to apply for the Path of Leadership
Opportunities like this don’t come around often. Make sure you’re part of the journey.
