Taking on the role of President feels a bit like stepping into the wilderness with a map drawn in instinct in one hand and a drum in the other. This year, I invite us to go Untamed—to unlearn the scripts that hold us back and lean into the raw, wild power of authentic connection.
Our strength isn’t just in our ventures—it’s in the quiet moments of truth in Forum, the late-night idea spirals, and yes, the unexpected dance-offs at retreats. It’s also in the simplest acts: meeting around mugs of hot chai, letting stories steep slowly, ideas swirl, and bonds grow strong—just like the perfect brew.

We all showed up not quite knowing what we were in for… but we did suspect there’d be gin involved. And considering that the locally produced bottle alone accounts for 40% of the total cost—it quickly became clear we’d landed in one of Nairobi’s best-kept secrets: the Procera Distillery.
Now, I’ll admit—in my younger days, I did a fair bit of drinking and driving… but that was back in the Wild Wild West (Kampala), a far-off land with looser rules. The temptation to relive that era was strong. Not just because the gin was incredible—but because here we were, EO members, many of whom I hadn’t seen in a while, suddenly relaxing, reconnecting, and sharing a moment.
And to top it off, we were in the heart of Industrial Area… yet surrounded by greenery (just look at the photos I took). It felt surreal.
Did I have a great time? Absolutely. Did we all enjoy a fun, memorable evening? Oh yes.

Procera Gin is revolutionising craft spirits by doing what no one else has: distilling fresh juniper—grown at altitude in equatorial Africa—capturing essential oils and terroir lost in traditional dried versions. Each bottle is estate-crafted with hand-selected botanicals like Moroccan coriander, Madagascar pink peppercorn, Swahili lime, and West African Selim pepper.
With only 24,000 bottles made annually, each vintage is tracked by terroir, harvest, and distillation date—much like fine wine. Their Blue Dot, Green Dot, and Red Dot expressions offer layered tastings: neat, on ice, with tonic, and finished with their signature botanical salt.
