MID-KANSAS COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAM

In 1967, Butler, Harvey, and Greenwood County Community Action Programs incorporated to become the Mid Kansas CAP, with the mission to provide approachable and intentional services to those working towards a prosperous future In 1996, expansion efforts resulted in nineteen counties participating in Mid Kansas CAP’s programs In the same year, the agency became a Community Housing Development Organization, providing housing built in Greenwood, Butler, Chase, and Cowley County

Through providing programs and services focused on expanding community housing options, education, employment, economic mobility, family development, and actively engaging community members in anti poverty collaborations, our staff continuously works to pursue our mission of “Helping People, Changing Lives” With a vision for “Individuals reaching their full potential, working harmoniously toward a more prosperous future” Mid Kansas CAP provides many programs that support their community members

Mid Kansas CAP has improved the lives of thousands of people, who were living in poverty, while promoting personal accountability through job readiness training, rent & utility assistance, transportation, food & nutrition supplements, financial counseling, income development spending plans, as well as intensive case management Our vision is to further expand our housing development to serve the additional needs in Mid Kansas

IDEAL CANDIDATE

Mid Kansas CAP is seeking an experienced and growth minded Executive Director (ED), to set organizational goals in response to the ever increasing needs of the customers we serve An empathetic leader, the incoming Executive Director will be passionate about the mission of Mid Kansas CAP, ensuring that everyone is treated with dignity and respect to ensure a healthy community for all

A purpose driven executive, the ideal candidate will develop a vision for the organization’s next decade and create a strategic plan in collaboration with the Board of Directors and our committed staff The ideal candidate will strengthen internal and external relationships, and continue developing critical community partnerships in Mid Kansas

Overseeing an annual budget of $1M, the Executive Director will work tirelessly to advance the organization's community initiatives, while seeking to expand government grants and individual fundraising for more diverse income

The next leader is experienced in strategic planning and has prior experience in direct service organizations, forging partnerships, expanding new and existing funding sources, and mentoring staff and a Board of Directors

The ideal candidate has a passion for working with underserved communities and a strong understanding of the funding and political landscape impacting families and individuals experiencing homelessness, especially in the rural communities of Kansas

Position Overview

The Executive Director (ED) is the chief administrative officer of Mid Kansas Community Action Program, Inc , responsible for providing management oversight and leadership of the organizational anti poverty programs in 19 counties in South Central Kansas

The Executive Director is directly accountable to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the planning, administration, staffing and successful implementation of all programs and services Under the direction of the Board, the Executive Director manages an annual budget of $1M, and oversight of all grant funding and private donations Additional duties include leadership of 10 staff, organization planning and capacity building for services impacting low income families, resource grants management, fiscal fund management and developing and maintaining key community collaborations

The ideal candidate will bring commitment, passion, and innovation to the Executive Director role, providing a sense of continuity, while also ever evolving to meet the needs of the community
