Spike Davis Comedian Host Actor Writer Comedian Spike Davis, born and raised in Louisville, KY but now residents in Atlanta for the past 12 years. Over the past 30 years, Spike has toured the country with some of the hottest names in the comedy business. Most notably, he appeared with Steve Harvey, Jamie Foxx, and Ced The Entertainer just to name a few. Also, Spike has made several national television appearances on HBO, Showtime, Comedy Central, and BET. He has been rocking comedy club stages from coast to coast and now sea to shining sea. Over the past 6 years, Spike has elevated to himself one of the most requested comedians on the high seas. Working cruise lines and performing to sold-out rooms nightly. With his intelligent and witty comedic style coupled with the ability to work off the crowd, he leaves the audiences with a lot to laugh about and tons to think about as well. His well thought out sets include humor mixed with poignant messages of hope, inspiration, healing, and inclusion all with a silly twist.

Interview with Spike Davis

by ANN C. Editor-in-Chief 1. .Spike hey it’s been a minute ! Where have you been the past few years ? How is the family?

It has been a while. The family is doing great! I was initially home like everyone else, of course. The lockdown was tough on a person like myself. I really rely on live audiences for my comedy performances. I did a bunch of Zoom shows, but it's so good to be back in front of live crowds!

2. Are you still touring doing comedy?

I work almost exclusively for Carnival Cruise lines, doing hundreds of shows a year on all of their ships. We travel all over the eastern and western Caribbean. From Barbados to Puerto Rico and to the Bahamas, then over to Hawaii, Alaska, down to the Mexican Riviera. I love it!

4. Louisville, Ky is home for you when was the last time you visited and will you be back to Kentucky any time soon?

I am a Louisville boy born and raised. I haven't been home in a couple of years now. I'll be back home performing during Kentucky Derby weekend, if the virus decides to behave itself, at least a little bit.

5. We see you are doing Spike Davis & Friends Reboot on the Envision Radio Network ! What can we expect on your show?

So excited to be back on the radio with the Spike Davis and Friends Show. It's going to a fun, funny, fast-moving show with plenty great inspirational music and interesting interviews. We're going to laugh, cry, learn, be motivated and inspired all in one!

1. Your program on Envision Radio Network is about Credit Repair, what does that entail?

Credit repair means different things to many people. Of course, I like using the language Credit restoration as a key element of that conversation.

I help them to navigate through the nuances to become financially literate, building their finances, organizing spending and savings and protecting their financial future. As a Credit Coach, I am educating individuals and families on credit education, financial education and literacy.

2. What’s the difference between bankruptcy and credit repair? Which is better?

Bankruptcy is a legal proceeding which helps individuals who cannot pay their bills get a relief from their debt.

Credit repair/restoration is having items disputed and removed that is inaccurate, obsolete, on your credit profile history.

Bankruptcy can remain on your credit from 7-10 years. It would be better to make an arrangement, if all possible to pay down your debts.

3. You have posted about becoming an agent, is that a credit agent coach?

What are the requirements?

We are looking for credit agent coaches .

Our company has been in business for over 17 years. Our team recently started the Businesswoman Boss movement throughout the United States, Guam and Puerto Rico. We are looking for individuals across the country who can help us reach a multitude of people.

There are over 53 million persons in need of these protection plan services.

We provide our credit agent coaches with the ability to build their own business by marketing innovative financial literacy tools and services to help even more families.

Requirements: There is a small start-up fee to own your business. Computer or Smart phone needed. There are no educational requirements, must be at least 18 years old, and willingness to build your own legacy part-time or full-time through our training platform of information.

4. What made you start a career in credit repair?

I had worked in the Professional Industry in Financial Empowerment & Micro-Lending in my last career. I saw the need of access to capital for small businesses, many individuals were underbanked, and lacked access to credit and asset building. I also worked with a lot of single and married couples who desired homeownership or business loans who were adversely affected by their credit score.Credit was a key factor that held a lot of people back. It was important to me to teach the importance of having a healthy credit score and the ability to sustain it. I had also experienced an unexpected financial credit quandry. This journey sparked a new passion to help others to become financially stable by getting their credit score under control.

5. You are also a Pastor, On air personality, grandmother, entrepreneur when do you have time for yourself?

How do you make time for yourself?

That is a very good question. I have to schedule an appointment with myself. I just recently started back my 6am

Extreme Hip Hop workout, which helps me to center my time for the rest of the day. I take me days, where I am not interrupted for periods of time. I turn my cell phone off, no social media posts or viewing. Above, that I take mini vacations to get away.

6. What are your hobbies?

I enjoy traveling just about anywhere. I love to read. I love to dance. I enjoy theatre and sitting in front of a fireplace listening to my favorite jazz artist.

7. What are your goals for 2022? ● Maintaining self-care, getting more rest, exercise, and healthy foods ● Co-authoring a new book “The Battle Behind My Smile” with other co-authors, with Author Tanya White “Public testimonies of our private trauma” coming April 22, 2022 ● Speaking and expanding my business across the country ● Opening a local community spot to bring services in the marketplace. ● Try something new – maybe learning ball-room dancing 8. COVID Variants: What You Should Know In December 2020, we all heard about a variant of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19, and since then, other variants have been identified.

Variants of viruses occur when there is a change or mutation to the virus’s genes.

Mutations in viruses including the coronavirus causing the COVID-19 pandemic are neither new nor unexpected. All RNA viruses mutate over time, some more than others.

The delta coronavirus is considered a “variant of concern” by the WHO and CDC because it appears to be more easily transmitted from one person to another. As of September 2021, delta is regarded as the most contagious form of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus so far.

None of the new coronavirus variants call for any new prevention strategies.

We need to continue doing the basic precautions that we know work to interrupt spread of the virus.

There is no demonstration yet that these variants are biologically different in ways that would require any change in current recommendations meant to limit spread of COVID-19.

The more people who are unvaccinated and infected, the more chances there are for mutations to occur. Limiting the spread of the virus through maintaining COVID-19 safety protocols (mask wearing, physical distancing, practicing hand hygiene and getting vaccinated) gives the virus fewer chances to change.

Crispy Duck Recipe

BY CHEF JIMA , Host of Haute Conversations & Cuisine

INGREDIENTS For the Duck: 5-6 lb duck 2 tbsp salt For Cavity Stuffing: 6 whole garlic cloves 3 medium shallots 1 lemon, sliced 1 orange quartered Fresh sage & rosemary For Glaze: 1 cup honey 3 TB maple syrup 1/4 cup orange juice 2 TB soy sauce 1 tsp black pepper 2 tsp garlic powder 2 tsp onion powder

INSTRUCTIONS 1.

Completely defrost the duck in the refrigerator for 1-2 days, if using frozen. Once defrosted, rinse and pat dry. For best results, let the duck sit uncovered in the refrigerator overnight. This will help dry and crisp the skin.

2.

Use a sharp knife to score the skin on the duck's breast in a diamond pattern, trying to cut only the skin without reaching the breast meat below. Cut off excess fat and poke the bird all over with a knife. Only prick the skin, don't hit the meat.

3.

Season the duck all over with salt, including the cavity. Stuff the cavity with garlic, shallots, lemon, orange, and fresh herbs. Use toothpicks to sew the skin around the cavity opening tightly together, to keep the inside moist during roasting.

Cross the legs and tie them together with cooking twine. Fold the wings under the duck.

4.

Place the duck on the roasting pan and cook at 300 F for 1 hour, breast side up. After 1 hour, flip the duck breast side down and roast for another hour. Continue doing this process of flipping the bird every hour for 3 hours.

5.

Prepare the glaze by combining the glaze ingredients in a medium pan. Simmer until thickens, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

6.

After 3 hours, remove the duck from the oven, turn up the heat to 400 F and cook for 15 minutes, breast side up. Then brush with glaze and finish for another 5-7 minutes.

TIPS FOR YOU Save the duck fat (just before blasting) from roasting as it has a lot of flavor and it's great for roasting potatoes.

Be sure to remove the neck, giblets, and such from inside the duck, if necessary, and reserve them for another use.

by DR. JULIA ROYSTON Each opportunity I have to do something or meet someone new, I don’t take it lightly. Envision-Radio.com has afforded me more than my fair share of interviews with people I never would have met otherwise and I thank you. So I was given the opportunity to interview Mrs. Lynnette Canedy-Durham, who is the sister of the Bestselling and Pulitzer Prize Winning Author Dana Canedy of “A Journal for Jordan” which is now being released to the big screen, directed by Mr. Denzel Washington, himself and starring Michael B. Jordan.

I admit I was quite nervous which is a good sign for me. Why? My nerves mean that I understand the importance of the assignment, conscious of my own inadequacies, need God more in that moment than ever and clearly don’t want to mess it up. At 58 years old, I finally said it. On the other hand, with prayers from my husband and God settling my heart, it was an honor and a pleasure. The interview was a conversation like two old friends talking about a recent book and movie without speculation but a first-hand account of the process from the book to the pitch to the red carpet, the screening with paparazzi and the joys of love, family, service and the future. Are your personal finances looking complicated?

Did you know that statistics and studies show that many of us chose not to deal or take a hands-on approach when it comes to our finances? There are many stories that I could share with you on how people are taking control of their finances. ● ● ● ●

Almost 2-4 people say finances cause them stress monthly One-third would say money is a conflict with one another Over fifty-three million people have 599 or less credit score There is estimated 1.6 trillion in student loan debt

The roller effect is that our economy only makes us more hesitant to take control of our finances. Are you

convinced that all financial mistakes send you on a downward spiral, and you want to be able to recover from it?

I like to offer you some rules of engagement, using an index card. I was recently reading a book called “The Index Card” This caught my attention, because Helaine Olen and Harold Pollack teamed up together to explain some simple rules. I want to outline a few of those rules.

RULE #1: Strive to save 10 to 20 percent of Your Income ● Step 1 – Monitor your spending habits ● Step 2 – Confront Your Spending habits ● Step 3- Refine your Expenses over time ● Step 4 – Create a spending plan.

Make sure to pay down the bill with the highest interest rate. It never hurts to ask on negotiating your credit card bill. Be willing to reduce your credit card spending and then reward yourself.

RULE #3 Buy a Home When You are Financially Ready Make sure that you have the traditional amount saved is 20 percent down payment. You must know what you can afford before you make a purchase. The good news is that homeownership puts you on the pathway to creating generational wealth.

Rule #4 Insurance – Make Sure you are Protected I have lived long enough to know, that terrible things to happen to good people. Have you considered what happens if you cannot work?

Organize your files and back them up somewhere. I recently switched jobs and realized the importance of backing up all of my files and deleting those I no longer used. You never know when you are going to need an old resource or document.

Clean up your social media. It’s okay to unsubscribe, unfollow and, yes, unfriend anything or any person that triggers you or disturbs your peace.

Practice self-care. That means you have to have some “you” time that is uninterrupted, enjoyable, and all about what makes you happy. You can take a trip, read a book, go to a movie, get a pedicure, do yoga, journal, or whatever you want to do – for you!

Rest! Within the word “reset” is rest. Get some extra hours of sleep. Turn off your television or your phone or at least your notifications.. I always say that if someone needs me desperately or in case of an emergency, if they have my home number, then they can reach me. You have to rest to successfully recharge.

Choose your word for the year. I remember my word for 2018 was “surge”. At the time, I had no idea what that would even look like. By the end of the year, Robert and Charliese Lewis Ministries had published its first book. The months to follow, would begin a new path for our business in helping other authors self-publish their work. I didn’t see any of that coming, but I trusted the word God gave me.

● Redo your resume. You have gained some new skills and done some different things. Always keep track of “all the things”. You never know when the next opportunity will come knocking at your door.

●

Set your goals. If there are goals you couldn’t or didn’t achieve last year, make it a priority to achieve them this year. Put timeframes on them. Start with doing your monthly short-term goals. This will help you establish your long-term goals for the year.

Revisit your financial priorities by creating a budget, buying additional life insurance, cleaning up your credit, starting a small business, and/or

establishing a savings plan. In order to create generational wealth, we have to plan for it. If you need help, reach out to a financial planner or a financial literacy coach. ●

Know your priorities. Make sure you know what is important to you – your spiritual life, your family, your career, even your time, whatever you value.

Think Big! Don’t be afraid to think big. Others might not go along with your vision. And everyone isn’t supposed to. It’s YOUR vision. We live our lives

The Cross Over

By Dr. Julia Royston Host of Live Your Best Life & The Book Business Boss About 20 years ago, there were some major changes about to happen in my life. God took me by the hand to make the transition like I was a 5 year old crossing a 4 lane highway. He was intentional, strategic and methodical.

He didn’t let me sleep until I had completed the tasks no matter how much time, how stressful or even the emotions that the tasks triggered. I had to get it done before I could move on to the next thing. I feel that same way crossing over into this new month, season and year. However, this time it is different. It is not a command from God but a command from myself. There are some things, people and habits that can’t ‘Cross Over.’ How do I know?

Passion Some things are not wrong but I don’t have a passion for it any more so it doesn’t cross over.

Purpose Some other things aren’t fitting in with the mission, direction and movement of my purpose. It just doesn’t fit. I’m not going to continue something out of habit that eventually will become so detrimental that it blocks me from the things I am meant to do and have worked so hard to be able to do.

Taxpayers will See their Biggest Refunds Yet in 2022

by Jeovonnii Pryor, EA Host of Life In the Tax Lane (www.syndicatetax.net) A family of four with two small children could realistically qualify for up to $23,980 in refundable tax credits this upcoming tax season! It sounds unbelievable but it's true. Let's say a pair of new parents were blessed with twins in 2021, each new dependent qualifies for a child tax credit of $3,600 which in their case would be a credit of $7,200.

Also, let's not forget the economic impact payment of $1,400 per dependent for tax year 2021, which will qualify the new parents for a recovery rebate credit of $2,800. So, even if these new parents didn't have any earned income to report on their return they'd still qualify for these credits of $10,000.

That's money they can put in their pockets.

What if only mom stays home and dad was lucky enough to work to support them through this pandemic. If he earned less than $50,000 for the year he can qualify for EIC of up to another $5,980 in refundable tax credits. EIC

helps lower income families so the lower the income in this instance, the higher the tax credit for the couple. Let's also say the mom has a side hustle and so the kids are in daycare a few hours a week so that she can work from home. The dependent care credit has been reformed and is now 50% refundable. A couple with 2 children can get a tax credit equal to half the amount of their expenses paid to the provider. However, it is maxed at $8,000 for two dependents. So let's do the math, $7,200 in child tax credit plus $2,800 in recovery rebate credits, plus another $5,980 in earned income credit for working families, and last but not least the refundable portion of the dependent care credit of $8,000. That's a total of $23,980 in possible tax credits for one family. Of course each credit has its own rules & compliance standards in order to qualify. But basically due to some great tax breaks for families, some will see their biggest refunds MAYBE EVER, in this upcoming 2022 tax season.

Best-laid Plans...

I am a traveling soul.

Whether in my imagination, on the page, on foot, a bicycle, a car, bus--you get the idea, I keep it moving. I had grand plans for 2020. Iceland, Nigeria (a regular stop for me), Senegal, and that was just the first quarter of the year. In early January 2020, I arrived in Reykjavik, Iceland (a day late due to storm delay) for what I hoped would be a meet and greet with an astral plane called Aurora Borealis.

No such luck. The storms persisted which meant skies full of clouds concealed the grand light show. So, I thermal pooled, sloshed around the city streets, worked a bit and spent cozy evenings in a high-rise flat listening to the coverage of Meghan and Harry’s Brexit sprinkled with murmurings of a strange new virus spreading in China.

A week or so after my return, I was on a plane from one home to another. JFK to ACC. My bi-continental life has me nearly, evenly split between Ghana and the US. Endless summer lifestyle is what I like to call it. Not long after arriving home, I was on another flight, this time for work to Lagos. It was a social media

conference and social it was a full on mix and mingle fest. By the time my week was ending, news of the first case of the now named mysterious virus—COVID-19, emerged in Nigeria. Mask on. Boarding the flight back to Accra, about four of us, of the 20 or so passengers had caught the drift. Travel was changing.

I returned relieved to have hopefully dodged that potential viral vector only to have to literally get on a plane 24 hours later making an emergency trip to London. My aunt had suddenly fallen ill.

I was needed. Here I was again, on a plane, mask on, peering at questioning eyes.

I arrived and headed straight to the hospital. This would be my first encounter with the UK’s NHS. I spent the day working out a plan for my aunt’s care with the attending physicians, “consultants” they call them, and observing the protocols on the floor.

Hand washing upon entering the room was required, but access to the floor was wide open. Access to the entire facility was wide open which was only increasingly troubling as 90 percent of 89

news coverage was reporting on the escalating presence and spread and unknowns about COVID-19. By the time I left the UK to return to Ghana, nearly two weeks later, again masked and now gloved I was sufficiently spooked and happy to return to my tropical existence.

Thankfully, I was able to return when I did. The day before my departure, Ghana reported its first case; two days after my return the borders closed. The world was now officially on lockdown.

I spent the next four plus months patiently grounded. No plane tickets awaiting departure.

No grand experience awaiting activation. Simply me and my garden. Chirping birds.

Darting geckos. Silent mosquitoes. I was grateful for the way in which Ghanaians and our leadership quickly established temperature checks, hand sanitizer dispensers and Veronica bucket (aka handwashing basins) stations everywhere. Life was not normal, but it was entirely bearable given the circumstances.

I spent a quiet holiday with family in Colorado in December 2020 then returned to my bi-continental lifestyle and traveling soul persona in January 2021. paperwork, but it is a small price to pay for the comfort of spreading your wings in an age of uncertainty. A few lifestyle tips for my fellow traveling souls: ●

Mind your health regimen – establish a fitness routine even if it’s just walking 30 minutes a day; add plenty of mineral rich foods to your diet; reduce your intake processed foods.

Stay hydrated.

Keep your hand sanitizer handy and wash your hands frequently.

Watch more, touch fewer surfaces.

Keep calm and mask on!

And remember, fortunately the travel industry is on our side. Book your next trip with confidence that should COVID-19 interfere, all is not lost, your best-laid plans will somehow eventually come to fruition.

Hurry Up and Wait!

By Dr. Zelda V. Kitt Host of Zelda Kitt Ministries As a teenager, I would cringe each time the Pastor preached a sermon about waiting on God. The word wait sounded like an acronym: warning against intense trouble, and I wanted no parts in it. Most often, the Preacher would center the message of waiting around the life of Job—how the enemy sorely attacked him and how he had to wait (warning against intense trouble) until God reversed it and later rewarded him double for his trouble. Nope. I decided that was not for me.

Soon, the love of God swept the fear from my heart, and I found myself in the Body of Christ. Waiting was still a thing.

But it now described by a new acronym: whining, again and again, in spite of God’s truth. At this stage, I was a babe in Christ and had to learn that waiting was a blessing and not a punishment. I didn’t mind waiting if only God would hurry up and do it. I found myself whining and complaining while learning to be still. (Often more anxiously than patiently). The wait seemed like pressure against time and turnaround and the measurement of grace with faith. It was ever-growing, changing, 96

and becoming while making and stretching me. Like dough in the hands of a baker, time pulled, patted, and pinched me. This discomfort challenged me to trust God beyond duty and obligations, and more importantly, trust Him with the outcomes. Indeed, growing pains!

I noticed that waiting on God mirrored my growth. As I continued to develop in faith, waiting looked differently. Time: a nature-bound term time, had connected with the concept of patience and together communicated that waiting on God had an impending dread of expiry.

Soon, I would realize that God is not bound by time, but time is bound to him.

Again, wait changed. It was no longer the timing of God; instead, it was the God of timing.

As the image of Christ began to form within me, wait became yet another acronym: warring against internal turmoil. By this time of growth, I knew to pray and intercede when things seemed delayed or challenged. This warfare made waiting on God a relatable concept; it set some spiritual

purpose to waiting, I thought. I had to learn not just to wait as in being still as God was working but also how to rest in God’s providential care when nothing seemed to be happening. I had to rest in God. As I practiced resting and welcomed waiting, I continued to grow. The wait became a new acronym: winning against internal turmoil. Yes! This growth level indicated that I was no longer afraid, or anxious about the outcome, no longer bemoaning the process, and no longer in a perpetual fight; this time, I am winning. The

victory of waiting had become attainable. The shifting in perception and the development of faith helped me hurry up and wait! As the scripture says, “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31 NKJV) Dr. Zelda V. Kitt. Which is why if you have been challenged with starting a resolution and not keeping it, I posit for some really key shifts you can make to prepare and walk in your Best Body Year Ever in 2022. And then shifts are so simple - they may be the hardest things for you to actually do. But I will give you a shot, and you can try them and make them work for you.

Here are the Top 10 BBN Tips for your Best Body Year Ever in 2022: Make everyday the start of changes that bring out the best of years of your life to come. Maybe you can lay out your workout clothes on the days you decide work best for you.

Think about working out as a given medical necessity even if you do not have a medical challenge, you are preventing one.

Make a an unbreakable vow for your sleep hygiene to be priority and execute it daily. Decide on a time to stop all work conversations or even with friends and family outside of your household. Hang up your Pajamas in a section in your closet, or have them packed neatly as a set in a designated drawer. Have a set of Pajamas for each day of the week.

Your body will register sleep time and you will become unstoppable in your days and years to come at any age at work and in the gym.

Educate yourself on what is true liquid nutrition that makes your quality of life better and longer.

Staying hydrated is not just how much water you drink - liquid nutrition goes much deeper than a simple compound H2O. Seriously - this is a huge mis-conception and overlooked more than it should be.

Always remember forgiveness is life saving for your health and prosperity.

But it is ok to remember things because not forgetting is vital to your survival

and sustaining success. This may not seem like a “fitness” topic; but it is to me. I do not believe in New Years Resolutions or Revenge Bodies. Forgive yourself. Forgive others. Get fit as an act of love for yourself and your loved ones.

End without explanation all cycles in any area of your life that give you negative ‘vibes’ or results AND stop using negative reinforcement to get you to make the changes you want to make.

This should be your non-negotiable.

Evolve.

Allow yourself to skip getting on the scale the whole year. And when you go to the doctors - tell them not to share your weight.

Measure your body progress with a dress in your current or goal size. Hang the dress up in a place you walk by as a gentle reminder.

And make the dress stunning doesn’t have to break the bank, but it must be a stunner.

Try not to rely on motivation, or things happening the way you want all the time when you want there is no real…or meaningful growth that will remain. So working out is it not about getting tough on yourself. Go easy on yourself. “Even you” will respond in a way that is easier to sustain.

Yes your “inner world” will be more receptive to you. Become your own bestie. Lol. Sounds weird - but try it for the next 6-11 months and see what happens.

Remind yourself daily whether reading this article or literally saying it out loud in front of the mirror; It’s not about being perfect everyday. It’s about giving it whatever your 100 is for that day and for one day at a time. In my experience with clients that get the best looking and feeling body at any season of their life, is that even the smallest efforts done consistently will show results that look spectacular.

Routine. Get into a workout routine. Without routine there is no reward. It doesn’t have to be extreme. It can be extreme when 102

you are available to go there. But for the most part, a routine of workouts with a difficulty rating of 6/10 are better than stressful 8/10 (with ten being the highest level of difficulty).
