Local levies fund the gap for student services, programs, and operations not fully funded by state and federal funding.

Our EP&O Levy provides funding for continued educational programs and operations not funded by the state. This four-year levy replacement would maintain services and programs such as: Health & Safety: counselors, nurses and health room professionals, safety and security, social and mental health services Instructional & Support Staff: custodians, librarians, para-educators, certificated staff Student Support: early learning services, student support services Educational Programs and Services: teaching and school supplies, transportation, child nutrition services, music and arts programs, athletics, co-curricular programs Maintenance & Operations: of playgrounds, playfields, and other facilities and operational costs

Our Tech Levy provides our district's technology, including instructional technology equipment and infrastructure, related staff training, and other technology to enhance student learning. This six-year levy replacement would maintain funding for related services such as: Maintain and improve instructional technology & infrastructure Replace and upgrade computers, devices, hardware, software, and telecom systems Cyber security Provide staff training and support for new and existing technology Fund costs for associated staffing, hardware, software, online applications, and related equipment Cover ongoing fees for subscriptions, licenses, upgrades, and training

The current Educational Programs & Operations (EP&O) Levy (approved by voters in 2022) and our current Instructional Technology (Tech) Levy (approved by voters in 2020) will both expire in 2026. The school district is asking our community to consider renewing the two levies on February 10, 2026. If approved by voters, these levies will sustain funding for current services and programs.

The state provides funding for 'basic education,' but many programs, services, and school buildings rely on Funded Through: FUNDS THE GAP local measures approved by voters to bridge the State Total for funding gap. State (and federal) funds do not fully Federal Local Levies ESD cover the actual cost of operating a school district in Health Room Washington. The current voter-approved EP&O levy 5.5 3.5 9 Professionals makes up approximately 16% of ESD's operating budget.

These are replacement levies.

This is not a new tax.

The Enumclaw School District's overall tax rate includes the current remaining bond (2015), the current Educational Programs & Operations (EP&O) Levy (approved by voters in 2022), and our current Instructional Technology (Tech) Levy (approved by voters in 2020).

With the approval and renewal of both levies, our overall tax rate is still projected to decrease over the next four years due to growth and increased district assessed value.

This decrease is also due to the April 2025 bond refinance. ESD refinanced the District’s outstanding 2015 Bonds. This successful refinancing reduced the District’s existing debt and will save taxpayers $3.36 million over the next nine years.

THE ROLE OF THE ESD SCHOOL BOARD The school board consists of five directors who are elected by voters in the Enumclaw School District. The directors must live not only within the school district boundaries, but they must also live within the district boundaries they service. They serve a fouryear term. We also have two EHS student board members.

School Board Directors work together to oversee the school district. As a board, their primary responsibilities are: Hire, supervise, and evaluate the superintendent.

Set the vision, mission, and strategic goals for the district.

Review, revise, and adopt policies.

Establish and oversee the budget.

Serve as community representatives.

Monitor the district’s progress toward its goals.
