A woman . A dog . A campervan . And 4,500km of wide open road .

Mot wakes up one morning to find that her heart is missing from her chest. She can breathe; she has a pulse— but she feels… nothing.

So, she decides to go and look for it. With her dog enlisted as co-pilot, Mot heads down the Highway of Lost Hearts: into the deepest core of the Australian outback— navigating red dirt landscapes, fire and flood, brittle dryness, vast salt lakes, age-old mountains and murky waters filled with lost souls.

An allegory for a country that’s lost its heart, Highway of Lost Hearts, by Mary Anne Butler, is half gritty road journey, half magic realism and all heart. It leaves you pondering the question: when your heart goes missing, what lengths will you go to in order to find it again? A truly regional story!

Set within a place called the 'Depository', Whalebone follows a solitary worker as he tries to safeguard human stories, memories and emotions in a data-driven world where AI and machines are going rogue, and making more and more decisions for us.

Featuring dazzling video and computer animations, flying objects and a pinch of circus, this richly visual theatrical experience takes kids and adults alike on a roller-coaster ride filled with eccentric contraptions, strange machinery and clunky inventions, including the world's first half-human juggling machine!

Whalebone will inspire the minds of young aspiring inventors, as well as everyone who loves stories, surprises and wonders, and leave audiences pondering what role technology plays in our lives and just what it is that makes us humans, human.

Stay for the Q&A after the show

Performed by the imaginative mind of clown, tinkerer, inventor and comedian Jens Altheimer . Stay for the Q&A after the show with the opportunity to check out all the contraptions!

People who’ve seen Kay

Proudlove play her songs know she’s whip-smart, hilarious and with the voice of an angel, but seeing Kay turn her own life into a theatre show I saw the depth she has as a writer and performer, and how much extra talent she’s been hiding in those suitcases.

A play with songs

Phenomenal South Coast Singer Songwriter, Kay Proudlove, brings her formidable talent and infectious personality to the stage in Dear Diary, directed by Merrigong Theatre Company's own Artistic Development Manager Leland Kean.

Dear Diary takes us on a journey through Kay’s teenage diaries through a collection of intimate and vulnerable stories and songs. From first kisses, girl power, spice world, and Elijah Wood fan fiction to lost gigs, found memories and frayed friendships, Dear Diary is a hilarious, nostalgic and sometimes painful revisiting of our teenage years, delving into the pressures and expectations of growing up.

With wry humour and confessional stories, Dear Diary asks us to look at what we hold onto in our lives and when it’s the right time to let them go, if ever. One for women of all generations!
