Business today is all about ‘Being Available’. Since its inception in 2006, Veeam has had a strong grip in making our digital lives work seamlessly. Digitization is a business inevitability and underpinning the digital transformation is data availability. At a time when digital technology is seen as key to the world’s continued economic recovery and future potential, the VeeamON Forum 2017 re-affirms the commitment and ambition of the company to revolutionize the digital experience of users around the world. With the next-gen technological breakthroughs, the Veeam Availability Suite and the Veeam Availability Platform, the Veeam team is determined to enable organizations to ensure “Always-On Cloud” availability and breathe ease into their operations in multi-cloud environments. VeeamON Forum 2017 connected leading IT experts and visionaries throughout the region to share and learn how to ensure Availability for the ‘Always-On Enterprise, and deliver seamless digital experiences for customers. The conference hosted a series of educational lectures, reflecting on business challenges and technology developments, and discussed how to integrate the latest trends of availability, cloud and data center modernization. There were also sessions for businesses new to Veeam, where they were introduced to the Veeam® Availability Suite ™ and Veeam Availability Platform for the Hybrid Cloud to show how to deliver Always-On ™ cloud availability, and how to capitalise on one of this year’s biggest talking points; working in multi-cloud environments. VeeamON Forum 2017 toured the culturally diverse European cities of Hanau, Paris, Milan, Istanbul, London, Prague and Moscow, while also visiting Johannesburg in Africa, before arriving in the United Arab

he Rajmahal Theatre, famous for its larger-than-life performances, came alive on 15th November, 2017with ‘enterprisechanging’ thoughts and best practices on Availability and data management for the VeeamON Forum 2017, before closing on a high note at the colourful Dubai Parks and Resorts.

experiences for customers.

enior Veeam executives from across the world joined their local counterparts and presented keynote sessions exploring the how user demands for better experience can be driven by digital transformation. All sessions showed how businesses of all sizes can re-think their IT strategies and services models, to address users wanting better digital experiences and demanding 24.7.365 access to data and applications.

he UAE edition was also further fueled by Veeam’s expansion in the region. Veeam announced the opening of a new office in the heart of Media City Dubai, fresh off the back of a record-breaking quarter in the region, and growing enterprise customer traction. The new Veeam office in Tower 1 of Business Central Towers doubles the square footage from its previous office location in Internet City. Further expansions across the UAE and additional staff are planned during 2018 to help support the company’s growing customer base in

The annual VeeamON Forum in the Middle East provided an excellent opportunity to directly network with Veeam and its partners and customers. The main discussion point was about how user demands are rapidly evolving - highlighting the need for seamless digital experiences with 24x7 access to data and applications to shape the digital future.

KING ABDULAZIZ CITY FOR SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY KACST (Saudi Arabia, Middle East). The Internet Services Unit (ISU) deployed Veeam Availability Suite in order to provide the science community in Saudi Arabia with 24.7.365 access to critical data for research that fosters innovation and promotes a knowledge-based society. Mr. Abdulmajeed R. Al-Osaimi, Manager of the System & Development Department at ISU says, “Veeam helps us deliver 24.7.365 Availability of the data that becomes the catalyst for discovery, economic development and social prosperity.”
ABU DHABI GAS INDUSTRIES LTD. (GASCO) (UAE, MIDDLE EAST). GASCO’s IT team chose Veeam® Backup Management Suite—a powerful, easy-touse and affordable solution designed specifically for virtualization that provides VMware and Hyper-V backup, replication, monitoring and reporting. With Veeam, GASCO’s IT team backs up VMs three times faster than its previous backup tool. VM backups are quick, cost-efficient and require less storage space. Veeam Backup Management Suite saves GASCO approximately $10,000 each year in new storage. Overall, it was 30% less expensive than GASCO’s previous backup tool.

Veeam’s built-in features reduce backup storage consumption by 50%. DWTC uses Veeam Availability Suite to monitor and manage the resources in its backup and virtual infrastructures. ARABIAN GEOPHYSICAL AND SURVEYING COMPANY (ARGAS) (SAUDI ARABIA, MIDDLE EAST) Veeam® Backup & Replication™ was deployed as a reliable backup solution that supports Microsoft Hyper-V and protects ERP. Veeam protects all virtualized data, including data in the ERP system. When the deduplication feature in Microsoft Windows Server 2012 is combined with Veeam’s built-in deduplication and compression, the size of VM backups at ARGAS decrease significantly, requiring 150% less storage, which will save the company up to 50% in storage costs. In addition to decreased backup storage costs, Veeam Backup & Replication reduced the time needed for ARGAS to monitor and troubleshoot backups.
