MICROSOFT BRINGS ‘DUBAI BOT’ TO GITEX 2016 MICROSOFT REINFORCES THE POWER OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN THE REGION YET AGAIN BY SHOWCASING DUBAI BOT, A DEMO DEVELOPED BY MICROSOFT GULF AT THIS YEAR’S GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK.
DUBAI CHAMBER LAUNCHES BI INFORMATION SYSTEM TO PROMOTE SMART BUSINESS
D
ubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has launched the Business Intelligence Information System (BIIS) smart platform, which aims to change the way business information is shared and used. The new platform gives users instant and easy access to important information about
local and foreign businesses, enabling companies to research prospective partners and make more informed decisions. Launched during the Chamber’s participation in GITEX Technology Week 2016, BIIS is a one-stop shop for intelligent information as it provides key data such as financial details and credit ratings. H.E. Hamad Buamim, President and CEO, Dubai Chamber, stated that
this revolutionary service is a valuable resource for businesses as it fills an information gap and gives them the tools to become more intelligent and efficient. He explained that BIIS will also enhance transparency within the local business community, and provide more reliable information about Dubai-based companies to foreign firms and investors, which is essential to securing trade partnerships.
DUBAI BOT, A SHOWCASE DEMO DEVELOPED BY MICROSOFT GULF, ACTS AS A VIRTUAL TOUR GUIDE FOR VISITORS TO THE EMIRATE, GIVING THEM AN AI SOURCE FOR ALL THEIR TRAVEL NEEDS. IT CAN SUGGEST RESTAURANTS AND ENTERTAINMENT VENUES; MUSEUMS AND BEACHES; AND IDEAL ATTRACTIONS FOR CHILDREN, PARENTS OR THE LONE TRAVELLER. THE BOT ALSO HELPS WITH THE MORE FORMAL ASPECTS OF TRAVEL, SUCH AS BOOKING A TAXI, ADVISING ON USE OF THE METRO OR GIVING UP-TO-THE-SECOND UPDATES ON CURRENCY EXCHANGE RATES. ALL OF THIS INTERACTION IS BASED ON THE BOT’S KNOWLEDGE OF THE USER’S CIRCUMSTANCES, SUCH AS THEIR LENGTH OF STAY, AGE AND WHETHER THEY ARE TRAVELLING ALONE OR IN COMPANY. DUBAI BOT PRESENTS AN IDEAL APPLICATION FOR MICROSOFT’S BOT FRAMEWORK AND COGNITIVE SERVICES, WHICH ARE BEST SUITED TO SCENARIOS WHERE REPETITIVE TASKS NORMALLY COORDINATED BY HUMAN ACTORS CAN BE HANDED OVER TO AUTOMATION.

Mr Karl Heinz Warum, Vice President CEEMEA, Sophos feels that everyone should understand the importance of data and avoid being a target of cyber threats, for protection one needs a product and a concept for securing data. This is the reason why Sophos has participated at GITEX to talk about the next level of security and GITEX is the perfect platform to do so. “We have an expertise in end point and networking on both sides and we are investing in it heavily. We are building our channel and distribution and we are looking at educating our reseller to be a trusted advisor. As the region’s largest ICT exhibition, GITEX is a perfect platform for Sophos to reach out to companies and communicate our ‘synchronized security’ strategy”, adds Mr. Karl. “Our marketing strategy at GITEX is that we bundle everything under the strategic message which is ‘discover synchronization’, which means we really address our customers and partners to enable them to be protected with our product and strategy against tomorrow’s threat which is becoming more and more sophisticated. We use GITEX as a major communication platform however we market our messages and campaigns online as well as through our partners since we are completely channel driven. For us it’s important that our partners are willing to expand their security know-how, they have full competency in IT security and they support our strategy in a way that they follow this line of synchronized security and investing in trainings in both network and end point protection,” said Katja Meyer, Marketing Director CEEMEA, Sophos.
