IT’S A SUCCESSFUL HAT-RICK FOR GEC AWARDS- ‘KNIGHT OF EXCELLENCE’
G
lobal Enterprise Connect Awards was held on 11th October 2016 at the extremely picturesque setting of Dubai Creek Club. Amidst the lush green golf course and the pleasant weather conditions, the evening also witnessed the gathering of ‘C’ level executives, top IT professionals and the crème of IT industry in attendance.
GEC Awards is one of the most celebrated IT awards of the industry. The winners of the prestigious awards are chosen on the basis of nominations and selection is done by an independent IT jury which decides the most deserving organization. There is a need to glorify and bring to limelight the endless toil and dedication which an organization puts in reaching
to the pinnacle of success. GEC Awards understands the collective team work of the organization and felicitates that. In a fun filled event of chess themed night, there was a surprise element of GEC King and GEC Queen, Mr Basil Ayass, Marketing Director, Dell EMC was the GEC King 2016 and Ms. Maya Zakhour, Channel Director, Middle East, Fortinet was the GEC Queen 2016.
The Supreme Legislation Committee has announced that it will showcase its new and comprehensive portfolio of creative projects especially designed to meet the requirement of Dubai’s shift towards smart governance during its participation at the 36th edition of GITEX Technology Week. The Supreme Legislation Committee participation at the largest information and communications technology (ICT) event in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia will focus on highlighting the achievements of ‘Official Gazette’ Portal and ‘Official Gazette App.’ ‘Official Gazette’ Portal is a unified knowledge portal that plays a vital role in promoting public awareness about legal rights and obligations while ‘Official Gazette App’ is a significant contributor in translating the ambitious vision to create a smart and innovative government.

DARKMATTER SET TO MAKE CYBER RESILIENCY RALLYING CALL AT GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2016
EMITAC ENTERPRISE SOLUTIONS LAUNCHES ITS NEW IDENTITY In a fast-changing world, driven by the power of creativity, innovation, responsiveness and technology leaps, Emitac redefines its dynamism through constant reinvention.
E
mitac Enterprise Solutions launched its new corporate brand identity on 16th of October 2016 during Gitex. The identity was launched by Tony Alam, Chief Executive Officer, Emitac Enterprise Solutions (EES) Emitac Enterprise Solutions (EES) was instituted in 1976 and has evolved and
grown since then from its humble beginnings to an envied full-fledged IT Systems Integrator, over the years. Today, EES is a living example of success, while it celebrates 40 years of excellence in Systems Integration in the region. It recently launched its managed Services division couple of years back followed by rolling out its own Cloud
called INFINET earlier this year. Today Emitac stands as one of the leading providers of Managed and Cloud services in UAE and played a major role in serving the IT Sector in its growth journey over the past four decades. The reason of the continuous success is the trust and confidence of the clients who over the years fueled Emitac’s success.
This year, GITEX’s theme is “Reimagining New Realities Cutting edge technologies and experiences”, which DarkMatter identifies with strongly given that many cutting edge technologies are a result of digitisation, which is an environment that needs to be secure in order to perform optimally. The EMEA 360 Boardroom Survey conducted by Deloitte earlier this year, canvassed 271 non-executive directors across 20 countries in the EMEA region, and found growing awareness and higher priority being given to cyber security issues, as well as more focus on innovation and digitisation. Faisal Al Bannai said, “As cyber threats become more numerous and sophisticated, they risk the development of smart cities and Internet of Things environments should these ecosystems become compromised. DarkMatter advises that cyber security resilience be placed at the centre of digital developments in order to ensure the integrity of digital networks and all parties connected to them.”
NEXANS TO PROMOTE ITS LAN CABLING SOLUTIONS AT GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2016 Nexans will promote its LAN cabling solutions including its latest data centre innovations at the region’s largest ICT event. ROBOTICS TO BOOST BUSINESS PRODUCTIVITY AND WORKPLACE SAFETY BY 2020, SAYS NEW REPORT The six-fold growth in mobile robotics by 2020 will dramatically enhance Middle East and global business productivity, workplace safety, and daily lives, according to an exclusive new report by Frost & Sullivan prepared in collaboration with GITEX Technology Week. Shipments of mobile robotics will grow from 4 million in 2012 to 25.4 million in 2020. The fastest growing sector in this expansion is predicted to be logistics, with unit shipments of logistics-related robotics increasing from 1,400 in 2012 to 95,000 in 2020. The largest absolute growth will be in personal and household robotics, growing from four million in 2012 to 25 million in 2020. “As robots get inexorably smarter with advances in Artificial Intelligence and know more about the world around them through access to the Internet of Things and Big Data, they will make more informed decisions and be able to adapt to the environments they inhabit. This in turn will lead to richer human-machine collaboration – driving massive gains
in productivity, safer workplaces, and better lives,” said Paul Clarke, CTO at the United Kingdom-based Ocado, the world’s largest onlineonly grocery retailer.

FORTINET’S FOCUS ON SECURITY FABRIC GITEX Technology Week 2015 Hosts Plentiful New Product Launches Supporting Internet of Things Innovation
F
ortinet will demonstrate how enterprises can protect themselves from the most sophisticated cybersecurity threats with its Security Fabric at GITEX Technology Week 2016. Fortinet Security Fabric is an integrated, collaborative, and adaptive architecture that is designed to deliver distributed security for global enterprises, providing comprehensive

protection against threats from IoT and remote devices, through the infrastructure core, and into the cloud. “Fortinet is committed to delivering security without compromise. As the number of potential attack vectors has multiplied in recent years, complexity slows down a network and to secure a complex network is never a satisfactory strategy. Our
aim at GITEX is to educate organizations and show them that in order to successfully compete in this new digital economy, they need a wellcoordinated security solution such as Security Fabric, which can see and govern data across an entire borderless network without compromising agility or performance,” explained Alain Penel, Regional Vice President – Middle East, Fortinet
Gigamon will put the spotlight on Gigamon’s innovative Visibility Fabric and the industry’s first security delivery platform – GigaSECURE at the largest ICT event in the Middle East. Senior global executives and experts will meet with customers and partners and hold demonstrations on the features and benefits of its security solutions. Gigamon will place the spotlight on GigaSECURE, the industry’s first Security Delivery Platform that provides pervasive visibility of network traffic, users, applications and suspicious activity, and delivers it to multiple security devices simultaneously without impacting network availability. The direct result is that third party security appliances are more effective at protection and remediation, and the cost and complexity of security infrastructure is reduced. “GITEX 2016 will be a great opportunity for us to meet with key decision makers and to educate the market on the importance of visibility and security solutions to organizations in the Middle East. We will have technology experts at the stand to hold product demonstrations and share our global successes with visitors attending the event,” said Trevor Dearing, EMEA Marketing Director at Gigamon.

100 MILLION HEALTHCARE WEARABLES BY 2021 TO REIMAGINE PATIENT CARE
T
he GCC healthcare market is rapidly expanding, with connected hospitals and healthcare providers re-imagining the industry with wearables, machine monitoring, and patient record digitisation. Both startups and established technology firms are transforming healthcare technology, showcasing the latest developments at GITEX Technology Week 2016. At
GITEX’s Healthcare Monday industry vertical programme and conference, healthcare innovators such as Dr Rafael Grossmann, and Australia’s first Chief Medical Information Officer Dr Monica Trujillo will support the GCC and wider market and share global best practices. Speakers will detail how cutting-edge healthcare technology can enhance the patient experience, deliver personalised care, and
contribute better value for money. Startups are beginning to play a significant role in reimagining healthcare. The GITEX Startup Movement will connect more than 400 entrepreneurs from over 40 countries with over 250 global investors. These startups are set to showcase innovative healthcare solutions that help to connect and personalise healthcare in a rapidly growing market.
Palo Alto Networks highlight its next-generation security platform for businesses in the region to prevent cyber breaches at GITEX. Under the theme ‘Prevent and Empower’, the company will showcase its threat prevention, advanced end-point, and nextgeneration firewalls offerings – all key components of the platform. “In order to thrive in a rapidly changing digital environment, companies in the Middle East need to have a robust cybersecurity and risk management strategy in place. Before that can happen, there needs to be a change in mindset where cybersecurity is viewed as a business enabler rather than another cost consideration,” said Saeed Agha, General Manager, Middle East at Palo Alto Networks. Additionally, there will be a strong presence from Unit 42, Palo Alto Networks threat and intelligence research team, who will be offering consultation to help companies enhance security during the five day event.
JUNIPER NETWORKS WILL SHOWCASE THE TRANSFORMATION OF SECURITY AND DATA CENTER TECHNOLOGY AT GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2016 At this year’s event, Juniper will showcase its joint solutions with partners Beta IT and Fireware exhibiting data center and security products, respectively. Live presentations will be taking place every three-four hours in Juniper’s booth. Juniper will demonstrate its powerful new security offerings with Sky Advanced Threat Prevention, a cloud-based service that delivers a dynamic anti-malware solution and is integrated with the SRX Series Firewalls.
