Mark Hughes, CEO of BT Security, will deliver a keynote speech focused on National Cyber Security Transformation at GISEC. Mark Hughes will show how governments and organizations need to rethink their cyber strategies in the face of a rapidly changing cybersecurity landscape. CTF – A Head To Head Battle for the Future of Technology For the first time in the GCC the world’s greatest security enthusiasts will test their mettle in a head to head cyber security competition covering a range of technology challenges from network security to cryptography, web security and digital forensics.

Future Technology Week’s CaptureThe-Flag Competition, held in association with CyberTalents.com, will see cyber security enthusiasts take part in various challenges to find the hidden ‘flag’ across a range of categories covering multiple levels of difficulty including:

• Reverse engineering • Network security • Cryptography • Web security • Network security • Digital forensics The Capture-The-Flag Competition is open to competitors from across the globe, with each participant having to pass an online qualification prior to the event ensuring their knowledge and skills are up to the required level. Teams who are able to solve their qualification challenge will then be eligible to play

in the final phase held live at Future Technology Week at Dubai World Trade Centre.

Once each competitor has passed the qualification stage they will then be able to form teams of between two to five competitors. Each team will contain a number of different technology skill sets in order to allow them to solve as many challenges and accumulate as many points as possible? At the end of the event the team with the most points will be crowned the Future Technology Week CTF Champion 2016.

Please note that the above will actually be demoed at the Microsoft stand and people can experience it in real time.

THE HACKATHON INTELLIGENCE ITH LAYER 8 TECHNOLOGY Future Technology Week in association with Microsoft, Dubai World Trade Centre’s (DWTC) new umbrella brand for a quartet of specialised industry trade exhibitions, is set to host the second live Hackathon series. The live Hackathon event will feature more than 40 developers, designers and coders pitching and developing new software technologies to a panel of judges. “A key enabler in our drive to develop the nation’s young talent by creating innovative breakthroughs in technology, the second Hackathon aims to bring together the brightest minds to develop, design and deliver the smart applications of the future,” said Trixie LohMirmand, Senior Vice President, Exhibitions & Events, DWTC. “There is no limit to the online world of applications and ideas continue to be the starting point of innovation. We are excited to see the outcome of how these innova-

The winning project will be entered in Microsoft’s Imagine Cup UAE, the local leg of the world’s premium student’s technology competition that encourages youth to apply their imagination, passion and creativity to technology innovations. developer platforms, advance design skills and capacity to make valuable hacking connections, this year’s Hackathon will feature three themes, Smart Transportation, Smart Environment and Smart Cities. Future Technology Week will debut The Hive – billed by organisers Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) as the ‘Start-up showdown of the century’.

Handpicked by an esteemed panel of distinguished technology industry experts, business gurus and SME accelerators, The Hive will see the region’s leading young entrepreneurs pitch unique start-up concepts conceived to solve today’s greatest technology challenges. During The Hive, the contestants will present breakthrough business concepts to a live audience and judging panel in a five-minute pitch on the first day of Future Technology Week.
