THE TECHNOCRATS GET A NEW NAME IN 2019


As a critical step towards further establishing the Global CIO Forum (GCF) to be the single voice for CIOs globally, GEC Media Group brought out the industry-first edition of ‘BOTS— The Book of Titans’, a special yearbook that celebrates the success of the world top 200 CIOs of the digital world and their projects. The yearbook was unveiled in a gala ceremony amidst the presence of VIPs, dignitaries and some renowned CIOs who successfully made it to the list of 200. The World CIO 200 were chosen after a deep-dive into the mega projects and accomplishments of the CIOs based on the nominations submitted for the CIO 200 Awards. The Roadshow held between May to November 2018, covering ten countries, honored 1280 CIOs from UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Ghana, Kenya, Egypt and India. The award categories (Next-Gen, Leaders, Masters and Legends) were set based on the career span of the CIO and celebrated every single project or CIO who brought a difference to the organization— significant or small.


Emirates Safer Internet Society (eSafe) signed a strategic partnership MoU with GEC Media Group in Dubai for all its events in the coming days. E-Safe foundation has been established with the very goal of creating a safer online experience for the society with a key focus of safeguarding the rights of children to ensure they can benefit from the advances of internet technology while remaining protected from all types of exploitation. At the Future IT Summit 2019, GEC Media Group and e-Safe introduced the WTX – Women in Technology Transformation. A 30-minutes power-packed session comprising four women leaders from the GCC; Alia Al Hammadi, ex Director of IT at ENEC and CEO and Co-Founder of Dubai Freelance Company; Aisha Suleiman Ahmed Al Ali, Managing Director of Experts Department, Ministry of Justice; Maya Zakhour, Head of Distribution and Alliances, Middle East & Africa, NetApp; Sherifa Hady, Interim Managing Director – South Africa and Distributor Director-Central Eastern Europe Middle East & Africa at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. The panel was moderated by Mohamed Mustafa Saidalavi. Mustafa is a Founder and Chief of 2 Not-ForProfit Organization in UAE & India and 25 years of stellar IT professional and humanitarian career in UAE. An internationally recognized social entrepreneur, Mohamed is currently heading to build an Asia & Africa regional capacity on Child Online Protection. The panel shed light on key areas as; Achieving Women Safety online in a Geography Agnostic Jurisdiction, Driving UAE towards a safer Haven for Women, From Empowerment to Further Peace, Safeguarding the digital footprint and integrity of women online.
