TECHNOLOGICALINDUSTRIALPARK:DRIVING FORCEOFAREGIONALINNOVATIONCENTRE

The regionalization of companies has been motivated by several international factors, such as trade disputes between the United States and China, the search for strengthening the stability of supply chains and the move away from areas of high politicalinstability.

Among the industries that have developed a regional relocation strategy, supported by the United States government, are the semiconductor and high technology industries. In that country, the state that has initiallyreceivedthelargestinvestmentofthis type is Arizona, which is motivating the development of a California-Arizona-Baja California mega technological region. The city of Ensenada is playing a leading role in this scenario, with collaboration agreements between research centers and companies such as Qualcomm for the design of courses and careers in the semiconductor area. Likewise, with the installation of new software development companies in this city, we are placed in a good competitive position to attracthightechnologycompanies

On the other hand, the recent publication of the guidelines for the development of the northern area of the municipality of Ensenadahasgenerateda

series of real estate development projects (including hotels, services, new communication routes, etc.), among which the design and implementation of a new technological industrial park stands out. Although this idea is not new, the conditions arenowinplacetomakeitareality.

The objective of a technological industrial park is to attract high-value companies by motivating and stimulating collaboration and the flow of knowledge between universities, research centers, government, and service companies, facilitating marketing strategies to connect them more easily with the market. This is a great opportunity that must be supported by a legal and regulatory frameworkofgoodindustrialpractices, aswell as by a business environment based on the effectivenessandefficiencyofsolutionstothe challengesthattheseindustriesrepresent.

The combination of high-tech companies, talent, educational offerings and business conditions can result in the creation of innovation centers for different technological industries in the region, making this new technology park the most important innovation center in the northwest of the country, bringing benefits and new opportunitiestothecityofEnsenada.

Win-Win

Thereisalotoftalkintheindustry and the media about emerging technologies. Today we live in a time when they are stepping on each other's heels, producing innovations at a dizzying speed: fiber optics, smartphones, apps, social networks, drones, artificial intelligence.Thetitaniccompanies that seem to cover the entire horizon with their image are precisely those that are taking care of our digital future by creating augmented reality, the Internet of Things, electric cars, vertical landing rockets... Faced with this storm of novelties, it is certainlythesystemsdepartments ofourcompaniesthatarenowthe most qualified leaders and they are the ones standing at the bow with their sword pointing the directiontothehelmsman Ornot?

The truth is, this is not the case Systems departments are usually a support area. However, a quick glance is enough to realize the enormous importance of their function as the backbone of the organization.

“Inthisincreasingly

digitalisedenvironment, thesystemsdepartmentis astrategicpillarthatdrives operationalefficiency, innovationand competitiveness...”
