ABOUT US OUR MISSION Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati (ETC) is a professional theatre dedicated to producing world and regional premieres of works that often explore compelling social issues. We fulfill our mission through our stage productions and educational outreach programs that enlighten, enliven, enrich, and inspire our audiences. OUR HISTORY From its founding in 1986, ETC has focused on providing an artistic home for local theatre professionals, including serving as a training ground for young artists. Each season, ETC produces a lineup devoted to the newest in contemporary theatre that attracts a diverse audience of 30,000 to more than 220 performances. Our work also includes education and engagement programs centered on introducing the performing arts to students from under-resourced schools and children with disabilities. Combined, our productions and educational programs strive to fulfill ETC’s vision of creating an urban arts district that is accessible to all.

CAST KENNETH EARLY (Foster) is honored to return to Ensemble Theatre for this production, where his previous credits include Who All Over There?, Pipeline, Red Velvet, Around the World in 80 Days, The Whipping Man, and Grey Gardens, among others. He has been seen regionally at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, Actors Theatre of Louisville, and the Human Race Theatre Company in Dayton, Ohio. He is a member of SAGAFTRA, and his film credits include White Noise, Miles Ahead, UFO, Chain of Command, Dark Waters, and Dusk.

MAGGIE LOU RADER (Amelia) (she/her) is thrilled to be back at Ensemble Theatre where she last played Lizzie in Maytag Virgin. She attended William Jewell College, Oxford University, and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. She has performed regionally with Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Human Race Theatre Company, Florida Studio Theatre, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, The Kitchen Theatre, Know Theatre of Cincinnati, and Cincinnati Shakespeare Company. Some of her favorite memories on stage have been playing The Pilot in Grounded, Maggie “the cat” in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, June in Alabaster, and Marie Antoinette in The Revolutionists. She’s also a national award-winning playwright and resident artist at Playhouse in the Park. Love to her folks, Justin, and the fur babies. Follow her at maggielourader.com

DAVID WOHL (Sam) has been an actor for more than fifty years, working on and off Broadway, in regional theaters, in movies, and on television. David and Lynn Meyers (both barely out of diapers) met at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park in 1979. He met Theresa Rebeck in Los Angeles in the early '90s when they worked at Paramount together on the TV show Brooklyn Bridge. Recently, Theresa directed Rob Ackerman's play, Dropping Gumballs on Luke Wilson, at the Working Theater in New York where David played the filmmaker Erol Morris. CREATIVE TEAM THERESA REBECK (Playwright/Director) is an award-winning and widely produced playwright, whose work has been staged across the globe. Her most recent Broadway play I Need That (starring Danny DeVito) premiered in fall 2023 at the Roundabout Theatre Company’s American Airlines Theatre, where it broke the theater’s record for the highest-grossing week of any show, play, or musical. Additional Broadway credits also include Bernhardt/Hamlet; Dead Accounts; Seminar; and Mauritius. Other notable plays include the New York Times Critic's Pick Dig (which she also directed) at Primary Stages/59E59 Theaters; Mad House, which played a critically acclaimed world premiere on London’s West End starring David Harbour and Bill Pullman; Seared (MCC); Downstairs (Primary Stages); The Scene, The Water’s Edge, Loose Knit, The Family of Mann, and Spike Heels, (Second Stage); Bad Dates, The Butterfly Collection, and Our House (Playwrights Horizons); The Understudy (Roundabout); View of the Dome (NYTW); What We’re Up Against (Women’s Project); and Omnium Gatherum (Pulitzer Prize finalist). As a director, her work has been seen at The Alley Theatre (Houston), the REP Company (Delaware), Dorset Theatre Festival, the Orchard Project, and the Folger Theatre. Major film and television projects include Trouble (writer and director) with Anjelica Huston, Bill Pullman, and David Morse; NYPD Blue; the NBC series Smash (creator); the female spy thriller 355 (for Jessica Chastain’s production company); and her most recent film Glimpse, now available for streaming. As a novelist, Rebeck’s books include Three Girls and Their Brother and I'm Glad About You. Rebeck is the recipient of the William Inge New Voices Playwriting Award, the PEN/Laura Pels Foundation Award, and a Lilly Award.

D. LYNN MEYERS (Producing Artistic Director) (she/her) has been with Ensemble Theatre for over twenty-five years, having directed more than a hundred world and regional premieres, including Hands on a Hardbody, Fun Home, Morning Sun, The Wolves, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, I Am My Own Wife, Next to Normal, Tiny Beautiful Things, and the world premiere of The Dancing Princesses. She began her career as the associate artistic director at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, has directed off-Broadway at the York Theatre, and has directed extensively throughout the US and Canada. As a member of the Casting Society of America, Lynn's recent feature credits include The Bikeriders, Shirley, and Dark Waters, in addition to serving as the location casting director for The Shawshank Redemption. Lynn recently directed the world premiere of Fierce for the Cincinnati Opera. She was named a finalist for the Zelda Fichandler National Award in 2011, is a past recipient of the YWCA Career Woman of Achievement Award, and received the 2018 Rosa F. and Samuel B. Sachs Fund Prize for regional arts impact and leadership.

PRODUCTION TEAM BRIAN c. MEHRING (Scenic & Lighting Designer) (he/him) is incredibly thankful to have served as the resident scenic and lighting designer at Ensemble Theatre for over two decades. Some of his favorite productions include Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Your Negro Tour Guide, Next to Normal, An Iliad, Sweat, and Fun Home. His regional favorites for set design include The Last 5 Years and I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park; Henry IV, Part 1, The Georgia Shakespeare Festival; and I Am My Own Wife, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Peterborough Players, and Florida Studio Theatre. Brian would like to thank D. Lynn Meyers for her endless support and dedication to ETC.

HANNAH DRINGENBURG (Costume Designer) is the costume shop manager at Ensemble Theatre who occasionally moonlights as a costume designer. Hannah received her BFA in costume design & technology at Northern Kentucky University and her MFA in costume technology from Ohio University. Her work has been seen on stages around Cincinnati as well as at Nashville Repertory Theatre, Monomoy Theatre, Playhouse on the Square, The Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, and many others. She is beyond grateful to be part of the ETC family.

FITZ PATTON (Sound Designer) is the winner of the 2019 Tony and Drama Desk Awards for Choir Boy and received a 2021 Tony Nomination for The Rose Tattoo. His Broadway credits include The Rose Tattoo, Choir Boy, Three Tall Women, Meteor Shower, Present Laughter, The Little Foxes, The Humans, Blackbird, Our Mother’s Brief Affair, It’s Only a Play, An Act of God, Airline Highway, The Other Place, I’ll Eat You Last, Outside Mullingar, Casa Valentina, The House of Blue Leaves, Brighton Beach Memoirs, and Broadway Bound. Fitz has designed 56 off-Broadway shows and received additional Drama Desk awards for When the Rain Stops Falling and The Humans. He is a founding editor of Chance Magazine.

SHANNON RAE LUTZ (Properties Curator/Design Assistant) (she/her) earned her master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music in 1996 and became the properties curator at Ensemble Theatre. Trained as a performer, she first appeared on ETC’s stage during the 1988-1989 New Works Festival. In 1991, she was granted an ETC internship. Now the director of apprentice programming, she is honored to co-manage ETC’s Professional Apprentice Company with Torie Wiggins. Shannon would like to thank D. Lynn Meyers, Ruth Sawyer, and the Cincinnati theatre community and patrons for their generous, supportive, and tenacious spirit.

PRODUCTION TEAM JACOB DOWELL (Technical Director) (he/him) is thrilled to be in his third season at Ensemble. He received a BA in theatre from Morehead State University. Some previous technical direction credits include The Match Game, Fiona: The Musical, Hands on a Hardbody, Kinky Boots, The Who’s Tommy, and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Jacob would like to thank his family, friends, and cats (Ronnie and Stan) for their continued support.

LEXI MULLER (Production Stage Manager) (she/her) is delighted to be back at Ensemble Theatre, where some of her credits include Fun Home, The Wolves, Skeleton Crew, and Fly By Night. Other regional credits include Sex with Strangers, The House, and 26 Pebbles with The Human Race Theatre Company. She is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association and a graduate of Wright State University, where she received her BFA in stage management. Lexi would like to thank her friends, family, and her extraordinary mother for supporting her every step of the way.

ABBY SAUER (Assistant Stage Manager) (she/her) is thrilled to return as ASM for Ensemble Theatre! Recently, she was the production stage manager for tick, tick… BOOM! at The Carnegie, where she is also on staff as the events manager. Other stage management credits include The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati, Summer Repertory Theatre Festival (Santa Rosa, CA), The Cincinnati Ballet, and Aspen Music Festival and School. Abby holds a master’s degree in arts administration from Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of the Performing Arts and a BFA in stage management from University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music. PATRON INFORMATION ETC BOX OFFICE HOURS Monday through Friday 10 am to 5 pm, and 2 hours prior to curtain. Weekend hours vary. CAMERAS & RECORDING DEVICES Actors’ Equity Association strictly prohibits the use of cameras or recording devices (including camera phones) in the theatre. ACCESSIBILITY OPTIONS ETC offers audio-described performances, ASL-interpreted performances, wheelchair accessible seating, large-print programs, Braille programs, assistive listening devices, and sensory sensitivity items such as noisecanceling headphones and fidgets. RELAXED PERFORMANCES Select performances offered for those with sensory sensitivities and developmental disabilities and their families to enjoy the production with lighting and sound adjustments and other accommodations. SALE POLICY Single-ticket purchases are final sale with no refund. If a patron is a no-show for their reserved performance, ETC is under no obligation to reschedule their tickets. LATECOMERS & ADMITTANCE Latecomers are seated at the House Manager’s discretion and may be denied admission depending upon the demands or structure of a particular production. Should you need to leave the theatre during a performance, readmittance is not guaranteed. ETC reserves the right to deny admission and/ or remove any disruptive patrons from the theatre at any time. TAX CREDITS If you cannot attend your performance and cannot reschedule for another date, tickets released prior to performances by calling the ETC box office are fully deductible as a charitable contribution.

PARKING Patrons may park at the Gateway Garage (accessible via 12th Street) or at the surface lot, both conveniently located at the corner of Vine and 12th Streets. Parking is also available at Washington Park Garage and Mercer Commons Garage. CHILDREN Children under the age of 4 will not be admitted to productions unless otherwise advertised. Parents with disruptive children will be asked to leave the theatre. GROUPS & DISCOUNTS Groups of 8 or more can save on single-ticket prices. Student rates, rush discounts, Public Radio Perks Card, AAA, ArtsWave Pass, and educator and military member discounts are available for select shows (please consult your appropriate membership(s) for details and exclusions).
