SPEECHLESS’ INTRODUCTION Speechless is Jurarez-Lincoln ACE’s creative writing & art magazine. This is an opportunity for JL ACE to showcase its artists. Art is subjective and means something different to every person. It is in a constant state of change, so you can never really pin down what it is other than thought provoking.

E.noyola@ljisd.com MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL The amount of freedom we get is always directly proportional to our personal commitment to education. The more education we have, the more freedom we get. The fear of losing our freedom will always lead us to the joy of keeping our freedom. Education and freedom do not come to those who want them, but to those who look for them. It is not about how we are going to be free but about how we are going to learn to be free. Freedom is about having choices and education will give you the power to choose. At Juarez -Lincoln ACE, we understand. After all, we all were teenagers once. We know that many of the things you count on don’t count, but the things you don’t count on are the ones that count. There is a fine line between freedom and lack of restrictions. As long as we do not affect the freedom of others, freedom is to do whatever we want. Freedom is similar to success.

When you go from failure to failure and never give up you are free. Is freedom real or is it just a dream? You just have to look up at the sky on a clear night, stare at the stars for a few seconds, and you will realize that freedom, like God, really does exist!

We know it’s not that simple, but it is worth a try.

Urban Art: A Way to Free Your Mind Urban art, bEtter known as ‚graffiti,‛ is thought to be vandalism, a way for ganGs and crews to mark their territOry. People see them as delinquents escaping at night to be rebellious ‚big shots‛.

With some crews they are somewhat right, but what they don’t know is some kIds that sneak out of their rooms do it to see the world in a different perSpective.

Urban ArtisTs have passion for it. The ones tHat don’t just want to find a stop sign to put a ‚tag‛ on or a local businEss to drop a ‘bomb‛ on. No, they go under a bridge, a burned up building, or an old abandoned building. These are the places that have been forgOtten and which the state either doesn’t waNt to waste money knocking down or rebuilding.

The artists look for thEse buildings to free their mind and express how they feel. For example, say the artist is sad, disappointed, or mad; they could take it out with paint. The mural will be dark and scary with intense colors as if you were in hell! If the artist is glad, excited, or just plain happy, he will express how he feels with light bright vivid colors as if you were in heaven!

Yes, at first I was dropping bombs, but now I don’t even focus on walls. I focus on paper and canvass.

Behind every mural there is a story. What’s your story?

Senses The sensations that I feel being close to her are truly strange for me. I love being with her, seeing her, feeling her, listening to her, smelling her aroma.

It’s something beautiful. Tasting her kisses that taste of the finest wine. She looks like the most gorgeous and brilliant stars. When she gets close to me I can smell her aroma as my favorite perfume. I can’t stop caressing her rose petal soft skin when she’s near.

I’ve never actually touched them, but I can imagine that she is better still.

Listening to her voice I feel as if I hear her singing, “Te Quiero”.

This is strange to me only because it all happens in just seconds. She floods my senses. How can my senses have such a powerful effect on me?
