A
photography zine builds on the concept of seeing the world and life in 360° through a panoramic camera’s creative capability.
The Contemplative Maniniyot (“Maniniyot” is a Bisaya word for “Photographer”) is photographer’s moniker and Facebook page.

As a contemplative photographer, one strives to reflect and respond to each moment presented. To achieve this, he practices awareness through regular brain exercises, meditation, mindfulness leading to insights left by walking life’s meandering path. The result of this is the creation of surreal creative images through the eyes of the author. This zine, therefore, is all about seeing the profound in the mundane and sometimes profane.
The author encourages the viewer to appreciate the new creatively presented photos. See it as a surreal expression using technology and processes.
You take 35 degrees out of 360 degrees and call it a photo. No individual photo explains anything. That's what makes photography such a wonderful and problematic medium. ~ J��� S���n��l�
About the February issue
L ast January, after a year, that was. I decided to look for colorful spaces to create interesting 360°
still photos. My motivation for this was to develop a sense of hope for the new year through color.
T he first two weeks’ photos were in a supermarket and a mall candy/flower kiosks. It was really the first time I lingered in its grocery. Taking my time to go around my usual aisle route and thinking about what I wanted to create. Guards were around, of course, but I managed to blend in and discretely position the camera for potential shots and being careful not to be too obvious as to draw unwanted attention from security.
M id-month and after over a year at home, my family and I had our “stay-cation.” We decided on
Dusit Thani D2, a relatively new hotel about two kilometers away from where we lived. Indeed a welcome relief and a change of environment. We, of course, still took precautions and made sure the hotel is following safety and health protocols. Two nights were enough to relax us. I do hope you enjoy the 1st to the 29th degrees of the 360° of 2021! ~ Migs

The most interesting 360 scenes are with color with a lot of repeating patterns. Supermarkets offer a lot of these. Gestures help a lot as well.

ABOUT MIGS
F or the past twenty-five years, Jose Miguel "Migs" Lisbona worked in the hospitality, academic services, and human development fields. M igs is a visual artist and enjoys shooting panoramic 360°, minimalist/contemplative and street, documentary photography. He describes his enthusiasm in the three genres as a swinging pendulum: "manic" at one end for the versatility of the 360 cams, "reflective" at the other end for experiencing perceptions, and in the middle as being "balanced" of seeing streets. His manic photography style utilized the image's flexibility, and coupled with post-processing programs, he creates something almost fantastical or surreal like as you can see from this zine.
Photography, for him, is all about seeing deep meaning in everyday ordinary life moments he sees. He happily encourages fellow visual ar�st photographers to shoot what moves them whenever he can. It is his personal mission to encourage fellow visual artist photographers to shoot what moves them with purpose.
H e loves writing “haiku,” a traditional form of Japanese poetry consisting of three lines with five syllables on the first and last lines and the middle line having seven syllables. Expressing his experience on the way he felt, thought and acted on a particular shot.
O riginally from Makati City, Metro Manila, he and his family are now residing in Davao City for eleven years. Migs is a practicing life coach. A "fire-starter," if you will, encourages others and groups to express, connect with their purpose and expand their strengths and abilities. Preparing a safe space for his friends and clients to connect, play and practice their expressions formally through one-on-one, group sessions, or informally in his role as an online curator/admin/moderator in various social media online groups. He loves and enjoys being with them through collaboration in their hopeful journey until they shine in whatever passion they follow.
H e believes in the brilliance that resides within each person. His sincere desire is to inspire that spark so each can become centers upon themselves and inspire others. It is his true purpose to remind and encourage a BRILLIANT LIFE!
