Subject choices 2022-2023

Introduction Dear Parents,

In this booklet, you will find all the necessary information regarding the choice of subjects.

The students will choose one subject from each option group, but the class will be offered only if there are sufficient students to form it. For certain subjects, the grades of the exams in Year 8 will be considered. The final decision, as regards the choice of subject, will rest with the school.

The students will have a choice of 4 options:

• A science subject

• A foreign language

• A subject from Group Option 1

• A subject from Group Option 2

You will also find the necessary information regarding each subject in the option groups.

It is very important to consider the aptitudes, motivations and wishes for future careers before filling up the options chosen. Good Luck!

This magazine has been specifically prepared to inform you of the various available options. It also contains information about post-secondary courses offered locally. It is important to keep in mind that the information in this booklet is up to date at the time of publishing, but it is subject to change, until you complete your secondary school studies, according to new syllabi, or other changes as instructed by the Education Authorities.

Therefore, you will need to keep yourselves informed by occasionally checking the Department of Education website and asking your Guidance teacher, Head of School, and other educators for the latest updated information.
