WHS To Stage “The Curious Savage” By Ann Mead Ash

Connie Hilliar, director of the Warwick High School (WHS) presentation of “The Curious Savage,” chose the play because she likes the message it embodies. “(I like) the idea of finding beauty in things people typically don’t find beauty in,” Hilliar said. “The idea that those who have can take care of those who have not. There’s so much to be learned from this (play).” “The Curious Savage” will be staged at the WHS Performing Arts Center, 301 W. Orange St., Lititz, on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 1 and 2, at 6:30 p.m. and on Sunday, Nov. 3, at 2 p.m. Tickets to the play may be purchased at the box office one hour prior to performances. Ticket prices will be discounted for Warwick School District students and senior citizens. The play, written by John Patrick,

tells the story of Ethel P. Savage, played by Stella Newman, an elderly woman who inherited millions of dollars after her husband passed away. She wants to make the best use of the money, so she places it into negotiable bonds with the hope of establishing a fund to help others. Meanwhile, her greedy stepchildren, played by Bryce Pfeiff, Abby Weiss, and Taylon Madison, have her committed to a sanatorium hoping to persuade her to leave the money to them. While there, Mrs. Savage meets various social misfits, played by Derek Knudson, Angela Cordischi, Zandaisha Louissaint, Helana Campbell, and David Ziegler, whom she eventually learns to care about. With the help of her new friends, Mrs. Savage leads her stepchildren on a chase to find the money by giving them clues as to its whereabouts. Additional characters include Amelia Blevins as See “The Curious Savage” pg 6
