WHS Marchers Explore “The Fire Within” By Ann Mead Ash
The Warwick High School (WHS) marching band did not shrink from tackling weighty issues in this year’s fall band drill. “It’s called ‘The Fire Within,’” said band director Matthew Tenaglia, who added that the show is based on composer Igor Stravinsky’s “The Firebird” and that music from that ballet will be used in the finale. “It will depict … our resilience to overcome the struggle (against) what is inside ourselves.” WHS held band camp weekdays from Aug. 5 through Aug. 23, meeting from 2 to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to noon each Friday. The 75-member band, which includes 15 color guards, will compete in the Liberty Division of Cavalcade of Bands, with plans to attend shows at Hempfield High School on Saturday, See WHS Marching Band pg 2
When a downpour interrupted the Warwick High School marching band camp practice on Aug. 7, members moved inside to rehearse in the band room, the auditorium, and one of the large entrance halls. The group will present its 2019 show, titled “The Fire Within,” at football games and competitions during the autumn months.
18th Annual Rothsville Day Planned LBC To Stage “Tradition!” By Ann Mead Ash
Terry Marxen, one of the organizers of Rothsville Community Day, is grateful to all the area residents and businesses that participate in the annual event. “This is all made possible through the work of many volunteers from the various churches in the area,” said Marxen, “but it would also not be possible without the local businesses who support us
financially and allow us to bring in this level of entertainment.” The 18th annual Rothsville Community Day will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, at Forney Field on Church Street in Rothsville. This year’s 5K Fun Run/Walk will begin at 9:30 a.m. Registration at Forney Field on the day of the event will open at 9 a.m. The 5K is sponsored by WellSpan Family and Pediatric Medicine in Rothsville, and it raises funds for WellSpan’s Prescription for Caring to help people who cannot afford necessary medications. Free events scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. include a bounce castle, barrel train rides, and games. Two of the games sponsored by the St. Paul’s See Rothsville Day pg 4
Character juggler Chris Ivey will entertain audiences at the 18th annual Rothsville Community Day, which will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, at Forney Field on Church Street in Rothsville. The event will include games, food, and demonstrations.

In Honor Of Past Musicals By Ann Mead Ash
When Dave Felty, head of the musical theater program at Lancaster Bible College (LBC), realized that this fall would mark the 10th year since the music, worship, and performing arts
division of the college began to produce musicals, he knew he had to plan a fall show that would honor the accomplishment. “This felt like a great time to celebrate a little bit of every show we have done,” shared Felty. “We won’t hit every show, but we will hit most of them.” See “Tradition!” pg 7
Lancaster Bible College (LBC) students will celebrate 10 years of musical productions when the school stages “Tradition!” in a dinner theater format on Sept. 27 and 28. The show will feature music from past LBC shows, including “Mary Poppins” and “Fiddler on the Roof.”
